It's a good thing the world has people like you Trevor to get out there and record what at the time is just ordinary everyday stuff but which now, years later is pure magical memories. This is another of your best videos. Thank you. David.
For those who don't know: the green containers on the train hauled by 37097 contained potash bound to ICI Severnside, Bristol, for the manufacture of fertilizer. These wagons started their journey at Boulby potash mine, just outside if Staithes. This service started IIRC in May 1984, but I can't remember when in last ran. The closed containers are required because potash will absorb water and become a sticky mess that is hard to shift. Other destinations for the products of Boulby include Selby and East Anglia, but these tended to be in smaller amounts for use in the sugar industry. In such cases the containers would contain sylvanite, a mixture of potash and rock salt.
Couldn't agree more. True locos in a great time to watch trains. Those days may be gone but your videos are a great reminder of what joy railways once brought to so many.
Thank you. What fantastic sights and sounds. Each loco bringing back memories of so many happy days "watching the trains go by". What a different world we live in now.
I thought you would like this Allan going back 30 odd years when i was out filming these super loco's and i am glad i did.Pleased you enjoyed the clips....Cheers....Trevor.''
Great video Trevor. This video looks good back in the 80s, lots of Diesels back then, especially that steam locomotive too you know. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers ta ... Josh
Plenty of footage taken in the 80s at York mainly and glad that i filmed these so people can see them in years to come Josh.....Thanks for looking......Trevor.''
Duff's class 47'sand goyles class 31's happy days as i miss them days of seeing these locos at various tmd's all over the UK In the early to late 1980s best times ever as todays railways are poop! Great video!!!
Fantastic! Thank you Trevor, the signalman at 0:48 looks like Dick Dring from York Yard North Box under the bridge there...I wonder. A lovely way to spend 20 mins immersed in lovely memories!!
good video Trevor, these locos on top of my real train list and Steam trains, modern trains look more like glorified motor coaches, lol maybe i am just old fashioned!
Trevor.... Super stuff mate, worked a lot on some of the loco's on film, brought some memories back. OK some were slow and not pretty but they really did work em hard in my day. Have subscribed Cheers IAN
Definitely Trevor,an age of Diesel heaven. The 47 on the merry go round train sounded mint and the 45 accelerating as it came out the station... sulzers ruled ! Andy
THATS WHAT U CALL THE GOOD OLD Days just plastic rubbush around now even the hst scrapped from lner replaced with something that wont last 40 odd years
Great video Trevor. everything looks so different to the York I know. I was only one when you filmed this. They must have altered the bridge at some point maybe when the wires went up?
For some reason Class 31's have always seemed to attract derision. I'm not sure why, they were versatile locos and worked in multiple quite happily. Then again, I like the look of 37's but many people consider them to be absolute monstrosities.
I adore 37s. cant beat a good bit of growler Hellfire. Remember many years ago being on a old class 43 intercity bound for London just after virgin took over the west coast line. We broke down just south of crew and were rescued by a very old elderly looking class 31 still in old BR blue livery. Ive never been more thankful to a loco in my life.
..Hell yeh man...those were the proper ones.(the original ones )..far far better than all this modern stuff of nowadays..which look absolutely awefull...to say the least..!!!.

some brilliant thrash from 47145 on the MGR. Very lucky parallel run with the 37 and the Peak. They were both just going slowly enough.
Fantastic! Thank you Trevor, the signalman at 0:48 looks like Dick Dring from York Yard North Box under the bridge there...I wonder. A lovely way to spend 20 mins immersed in lovely memories!!
Always nice to have a look back Stu....thanks for the info on the signalman but can't say i knew him....Glad you enjoyed it.....Cheers....Trevor.''

Denis Cahill the Pacers were so bad that they lasted longervthan the trains they replaced....
That IS locos.. they looked very close to hitting that bridge when they went under - not a lot of clearance
Yes Kev.....not a lot of clearance in them days.....Cheers for looking....Trevor.''
exactly what I was thinking - the cars must've been clearing it by inches! Great coverage Trevor!
Nothing comes close to a good Sulzer nowadays
except maybe a class 68!
