- Here are 7 reasons why chickens make great pets:
* You get fresh eggs every day from the hens
* They're friendly animals
* They each have their own personalities
* They make funny sounds (not a true reason I suppose)
* Chickens are beautiful animals
* They provide free fertilizer
* They're fun to watch and hang out with
Let's not forget about their funny dinosaur feet and are naturally curious animals. They will follow you around everywhere you go in the coop or run, and are not afraid to jump up in your lap.
The breeds of chickens we have are golden sexlinks, golden laced wyandottes, Rhode Island reds, an Ohio buckeye, a blue Andalusian and a Barnevelder.

There is always that one chicken that would rather chill with you than the other chicken
Yea i had one but he died he was a good rooster
Got a chick fil a ad before this lol.
Roosters are kinda like hens but with a rooster they’ll try to mate with anything that’s remotely hen shaped but most times they’ll be as chill as a cucumber. Sometimes roosters will do some of the funniest things like roosting in a odd place, sun bathing in a weird way, sometimes crowing in a funny way, and pick fights with a mirror or anything that they deem as a challenge
virgin parrot vs chad chicken
I chill with my chicks a LOT! I do have a rooster; therefore chicks, which are adorable.
Take care of him ... especially his legs
I have a rooster too. I incubated 4 eggs and got 1/4 hatched. And guess what, he is gonna replace daddy as it is a cockerel lol. Daddy is so docile but he is ready for soup now!
They looked healthy… 😊
Do your chickens form “cliques”? My great uncle’s chickens totally did. Lol it was like the cafeteria in mean girls
For sure! They form a hierarchy. It can be distressing when one higher up the social ladder picks on one at the bottom of the hierarchy.
Everything he says is true. I love my chickens.
Bajrangbali bless you
Yessssssssssss
Yessssss😂
I love my chicken on the grill smothered in barbecue sauce!
@@jamesprior2496Grill your own beloved pet, loser.
Nice video. Beautiful birds (and cat). I used to raise chickens and always had a few that would "bond" with me, including the roosters.
They're wonderful animals!
Had a cat,dog,rat...maby time for a chicken lol...the free eggs thing really speak to me 😆
Get two
They do have personalities and bound to the owner, when i was a kid I have a couple of chicken and when the hen was laying egg Its so wonderfull, she never prevent me to take her egg under her body and when they hatched she wasnt prevent me taking and pet the baby chicken
I have hatched a chick using an egg incubator. The chick is a month old now and well, so it turned out to be a cockerel who's gonna replace his dad 😁
Mine are 11 weeks old. I was making a run but, now I just have em out wherever they want to be.
I love chickens😍😍😍😍😍
Both chickens and roosters make great pets (we got both!).
I had a incredibly jealous chicken as a pet, every time my wife chicken would snuggle with me she would jump on me and bite me until I kicked the wife’s chicken down and snuggle with her lol
I want a pet chicken now
They are also little dinosaurs
We had a hen wander into our yard. We live in a city. She really seems to like it here and has adopted us. I have no idea if I should be feeding her or letting her just scratch and forage. I gave her some corn and peas, and now she follows me around the yard. Not so good when I cross the street, though. She wants to follow me there. I have no idea what to do with a chicken.
I like birds in general! We have some hummingbirds who have really gotten to know us from all the food we give, and there's even some Ravens around our area too. I've read a bunch of interesting stuff about the later.
Not for everyone. They poop a lot (can't potty train them) and if you live where there are predators you. have to make sure they are locked up at night and when you are not at home
Awesome video! We just acquired a couple chickens that seem to of found their way into our property,
But anyway , I’ve never been around chickens , just heard their infamous cockadoodledoo,
But always from a distance , and always loved hearing it!
I think it’s a very uplifting sound …the crack of dawn and another beautiful day , sound
Anyways , those couple chickens ..we’ll let’s just say …they sure can multiply and multiply ,
But Ive really started getting attached , and I see them as pets , not chicken dumplings !
So thanks for taking the time to make your video !
Yup mine are social and follow me around , roosters can be pretty nice but still challenge anyone for dominance mine does luckyli he knows his place
Chickens also eat mice! Pest controlers, friends, egg layin machines, fertilizers for plants, no excuse to not have chickens!!! 🎉
Yesterday, while I was biking with my brother, I noticed a white little thing, we thought it was a chicken. We were right! We couldn't do much since it already had an owner and it was stuck to a leash, but man we got along well! I think we bonded for 30 minutes. One time it but its mouth on my hand while I was trying to pet it and I was kinda scared. I also held the chicken and man it was SOO CUTE! even if it wasn't a baby chicken, I loved it so much and now I'm begging my parent's for a chicken. I'll update this story if my parent's do or do not buy us a pet chicken
Super entertaining video. I loved it and would love more about animals. Your chickens are super cute. Love your hair and glad you are doing well .
Thank you! I'll try to do more.
you did not include how chickens are good for business because they are able to come up with intellectual business practices and invest in stock
Waheey! You really did grow your hair back! :-D Looks great man, has more of a "vibe" to it...
Thanks! I'm just growing it out.
I’m naming the cat “Domino”
Good name!
Hola amigo muy hermosas tus gallinas. Me encanta cómo las tienes disfrutando del aire libre 🤗. Abrazo grande y bendiciones desde Uruguay nueva amiga 👍.
Gracias!
I need a diaper for my baby chicken
Who else is here researching whether or not to get chickens instead of revising for their final exams? Because I sure am.
I’m making my final about chickens lmao 😭
I was wondering what would be the best breed for a person that is just starting out with their first pet chicken? As well is it better to start off with a chick?
That depends on where you live and what the climate is like. Also depends on what your set up will be, like whether they're free ranging or will spend their entire lives in a coop/run. I would NOT recommend starting off with chicks if you've never had chickens before. You need some experience with chickens first before having chicks. Chicks require a special setup. You'll want to research the proper setup and care for chicks. Adults or at least chickens of 6 months of age require less care than chicks, but still require proper care. Either way, do some research on how to properly care for chickens and the proper setups. They aren't the easiest animals to keep, but not terribly difficult either. They get sick very easily and you have to know how to properly treat them. They also have specific feed requirements and their living quarters have to be kept clean and secure from predators.
That's nuts, i've never seen a lesbian in a thin blue line t-shirt before
Has anyone understood the language of the chickens yet?
Do you still have a backyard nursery Seth?
Yep, sure do!
I'm planning on getting chickens, but I've heard that laying eggs every day isn't especially healthy for them. I think I'll use suprelorin to cut back on the egg production. Do you know anything about this I should know?
That's definitely not true. You should NOT be trying to force your chickens to lay less eggs. In fact, you might harm them by doing that. Chickens that lay eggs every day or at least consistently, is a sign of a healthy chicken. Here are some sources with information: www.purinamills.com/chicken-feed/education/detail/how-long-do-chickens-lay-eggs-goals-for-laying-hens#:~:text=D.&text=Consistent%20egg%20production%20is%20a,an%20egg%20almost%20daily%20thereafter.

You really shouldn't be interfering with your chicken's ovulation. Just feed them properly and provide an ideal, clean, comfortable and stress-free environment with plenty of space for them and allow them to lay their eggs as often as they want to.
@@bwelmhouse1 hey, thanks for responding!
I won't be getting chickens for several years still, but it's good to get a lot of perspectives/info on these topics already.
Sets, in past videos you’ve mentioned that your had blind spots in your vision? Did they get better o stay the same?
The same. They haven't changed. My eye doctor could never figure out what caused them. But they're tiny, so they don't affect my abilities to do things.
@@bwelmhouse1 I still have them with my vestibular issues. I’m still dealing with jumpy vision, which is almost imperceptible, did you experienced this at some point? Have a nice day.
I'm scared of live chickens 😊Are you a vegetarian or vegan Seth?
Neither. We eat meat, but we'll never eat our own chickens.
Do you still suffer from anxiety??
Yes, but not every day. I'm susceptible to it because it is a disorder and that's how my brain is wired, but I've done enough exposure therapy that most everyday situations are not a problem. I still have some anxiety when driving certain places or being in certain situations where I feel trapped.
Love this video, I have rescue roosters too and I adore them!!! When mean or aggressive you do have to work with them. Hoping you make a video on roosters because people have the wrong view of them :( :( especially their crow which is just sad because a dogs bark is soooooo much louder but people don't complain that is okay!!! Also the city laws are just insane and ridiculous :( :( :( Thanks for the video!!
Wow! So nice to see a man who’s not wearing a face diaper (a k a beard, mustache or both). Clean shaven is always better looking. Long hair a plus!👍
Are you gone forever?
No, just been too busy lately to release any videos.
@@bwelmhouse1 happy to hear you're still going strong champ
Would love to have chickens as pets but unfortunately I would probably end up cooking and eating them lol
You’re such a sad lonely man
I had a pet chicken until it was mistakenly cooked by a family friend (sweet old lady) cooked it. 😣💔
Oh no! No cooks are allowed around our chicken coop. lol
I hear they're also tasty.
Oh yeah that’s a good idea. And then you know, if it doesn’t work, then it doesn’t work. It’s a win win! 🍗
What do you feed them??
Worms, laying pellets, cracked corn, grass and whatever food the local grocery store gives away for animal food.
