  • This week Jason Berard, UVLT VP of Stewardship, visited our Lyme Hill Conservation Area to talk about the current state of the field we manage for bird, wildlife, and pollinator habitats. Our field certainly looks different during the winter than in the summer, but that doesn't mean it is not actively benefiting wildlife!

As Jason shows us along one of the field edges, he points out the American Cranberry (Viburnum opulus) and it's berries that are still hanging onto the branches. These berries are an important food source for not only migrating birds, but our local winter birds such as the black-capped chickadee, cedar waxwings and cardinals. This is just one example of all the ways that this field and the way we maintain it can benefit local wildlife.
