      +bmarkyt132 As I stated with a commentator before, you have no idea what you are talking about! This interviewer (Ryan Tubridy), is not an interviewer specifically for politics. The Late Late show is a variety show, which features people of all sorts of professions each week e.g. politicians, musicians, actors, chefs, comedians, etc. Also, if you watch any of Ryan Tubridy's other political interviews (which you obviously have not), you would know that his questions are nearly always, equally as interrogative as in this interview whether he is questioning socialists, community activists or environmentalists.

All that and an audience free from green haired swamp donkeys shouting "waycist" for no apparent reason.
    This won't catch on in The UK sadly as people might then get to hear the real message rather than the preferred unfair picture of a terrible bigot they paint him to be. I guess that's their only option though as you can't disagree with a word he says.

    Britain has *always* been a country of great religious tolerance?... (Opens Irish history book) Hmm, think I'll have to disagree, there!
    I'll give Farage the benefit of the doubt and say maybe he meant modern Britain which, to be fair, did become much more tolerant from the latter 19th Century onward, but even in the 20th Century, Britain turned a blind eye while Irish Catholics in Northern Ireland were effectively second class citizens, only doing something when those citizens had the apparent gall to kick up a bit of a fuss on the matter.
    Farage has some good ideas on a more sane immigration policy, but he comes across as happily ignorant of Ireland, and Turbridy missed the opportunity to at least qualify the point, if not school Farage on a few things.
    And it also begs the question if Farage would happily destabilise the Northern Irish Peace Process through reckless "Britain First" policies, just as bad, if not worse than, the current Conservative government of the UK are doing?

    Nigel Farage only ever talks great sense that all politicians should aspire to be like. Common sense is not an impossible way to be. You can gain common sense by listening,reading and doing less dreaming of a fantasy world. Get involved in the real world. Learn from the good man Nigel Farage as he has it in his blood and soul.

    A good interview. Nigel being put on the spot with a succession of incisive and potentially difficult questions, and being given the opportunity to fully answer each one and lay to rest a lot of the political establishment/mainstream media anti-UKIP propaganda.

  • @dashercronin
    @dashercronin Před 8 lety +1

    Farage was asked if UKIP is racist and xenophobic and replied: "Is the British public racist and xenophobic?" All we have to do is look at N.I. 4 million votes for Farage's party further confirms it. However, racism and xenophobia in Britain is the hate that dare not speak its name due to the English distaste for clearly expressing personal feelings in public and at the same time being hampered in doing so by current anti-racist legislation. UKIP is trying desperately to negotiate a passage for the voter between these two situations. It failed to do so at the recent general election retaining only one seat and seeing Farage failing to win a seat in the UK parliament. The British voter is caught between a rock and a hard place regarding the immigrant issue. They want them out but don't want to appear racist in the process. They like what Farage says but are fearful of the Pandora's box his party would open should it ever get its hands on power. Farage does not mention the fact that the EU members, Britain and France, created the current immigrant crises which really originated 100 years ago with the Sykes Picot agreement just as partition created the current problem in Ireland. If Britain had lived up to its obligations to its Arab allies in WWI we would not now be going through this trauma. Sykes Picot allowed the UK and France to divide up the Middle East, put puppet rulers in power to make sure the oil kept flowing westward and it also helped create the state of Israel which continues to inflame the Arab community throughout the Middle East. The whole area has been a boiling cauldron ever since. Farage claims to have ancestry that fled the Huguenot persecutions in France in the 17th century to avoid being "burnt at the stake" for their religious beliefs. He does not mention that the Huguenots burnt a significant number of French Catholics themselves and ghettoized and vandalized large parts of France during their time trying to force Calvinism on Catholic France with English support and what Calvinism brought to the indigenous populations of North America. Its Protestant allies laid waste to Europe in the 17th centuries leaving devastation in their wake that ultimately created the kind of nationalism, fascism and Nazism that practically destroyed Europe in two devastating world wars. People have short memories. The devastation wrought in the 20th century will return if we listen to the likes of Farage. People forget why the EU was formed. It was not just a trading block, it was a declaration of intent to never again sort out our differences by war and conquest, but to work together to bring about unity in Europe. Farage and his acolytes would destroy this, destroy our childrens' futures and possibly destroy civilization, just as his ancestors tried to do in France 300 years ago and whose allies succeeded in doing in Germany.

I hope Ireland leaves the EU as well, it has dealt it a significant blow with the bailout and also with the now proposed mass immigration into it.
