NetBSD was the first BSD I tried. It was recommended by a Cisco engineer. He told me Cisco iOS was loosely based on it and they had licensed the tcp/ip stack from NetBSD. Sure enough some BSD commands that were not listed in their command reference were there!

I use XFCE as my daily driver as well. Its flashy enough without being too much of a resource/s hog.

Trying NetBSD on a Raspberry Pi Zero now. Very hard to find any documents. I need something to make a custom image, so I can try boot CURRENT and maybe get the internal wifi working.
Already had a Videocore 4 demonstration working with Omxplayer. Pretty awesome. But it's not going to pull any reasonable browser...

I run on a virtual machine NetBSD 9.3 with i3 and i3status bar. With xcompmgr you get fency shadows and transparency effects.

I have NetBSD running on a 30MHZ 68040 Quadra 800. It has X11 installed and can get on the internet with the Dillo browser. As far as support goes I am on my own.

@@Xenotypal yes I do! Great site! I actually set it up as a MUD server and used an 8-bit Atari 800XL to connect as a client. Lots of fun, learned alot. XMMS kinda runs on it. Looking forward to NetBSD 10 to finalize so I can try that.

@@danaeckelnice! sounds awesome, that'd be really cool if the netbsd experiment works out.
