This is something I've done in my own city. I actually planned out 2 realistic-ish buslines that both stretch to the main central station. 1 bus line heads into the downtown and industrial part of the city and the other goes to the more rural and urban parts. Definitely something that a lot of Lego builders overlook! Great idea!
Ok, you’re definitely the best Lego CZcamsr out there. Finally someone who doesn’t just make reviews or builds a city only with official sets. Congratulations
I feel the same, and I hope he makes a lover level with an openpit mine so the moc will go to the floor with city underground, in tge form of mineshafts, Subway, sewers and what else you one can think of...
@@williamneuenschwander829 same with Robin Hood bricks, the farm and fairgrounds are on a low hill and the rest is very 🇬🇧land of flat Jange tries to be 100% custom built and has a couple of mountains but still mostly a flat area which is understandable i think it’s kinda based on his home area San Francisco. Amazing to be on this journey with you. Maybe a market in the village would fill some of the smaller gaps. A few fruit and veg stalls and an ice cream stand etc
I wanna add onto that, he was talking about adding a car because of the road, I think an old timey truck delivering crates of fruit could fit right in with that idea!
*"Isn't a sideroad right after a tunnel a bit dangerous?"* It might be dangerous, but sideroad right after a tunnel does exist in real life. Yes in real life, there would likely be a mirror, but there would also be triangle warning signs showing sideroad ahead or diamond priority road signs on main road. A stop sign or a yield would make sense on the sideroad, but stop sign would more sense, since it's right next to the tunnel. Coming out of the tunnel, there would also be a warning sign with a image of a train, since there's no barriers.
In my opinion, the trees you've created near the tunnel entry (near to wind mill) blends into the vegetation, maybe you should try leafs with different colour?
Reading this reply and looking back over the video? I am having that same thought. Those trees were nice, but they do kind of blend in. Yeah a variation in the leaf colors could do some good even if they are background details. Not a bad idea.
I think that's the point. Too many variations, draw your eye for no pay off. He's added trees for height and variance without being obtrusive or taking your line of sight from the tunnel which draws the focus. I could be wrong though.
6:40 For the hills, I'd say high enough to where the backdrop would be all sky that way you could hide the electrical outlets behind it. You already have that for the mountain area and it looks great.
The engineshed is a really cool idea! Maybe you can add a railway turntable to it? That would be awesome and it may even allow the rails to make an awkward turn!
What I really love about your city is it looks natural. I lot of large Lego cities look a little cramped with fitting in as much as possible. Having some space and vegetation really elevates the overall look.
Instead of a little house, why don't you use that patch of land for the parking slot? It wouldn't be too tall to cover up the tunnel, it makes sense that you would put a small parking slot before a "no car zone", and could preserve the rustic look of the old town without modifing it for a parking space inside the town itself.
An idea for cars could be instead of a new building adding a gravel parking lot keeping the view of the tunnel as well as removing cars from the town. You could also add some poles or barriers between the new parking space and the town to show visually from a far why there are no cars in the town.
That could work. Maybe he can make a small roadside produce stand right there just off where the cars park. Add a few garden details around a few of the houses on top of that. Make it look like a community thing. Near where I am the Amish tend to do that. Several families will grow vegetables and sell them at a nearby stand by the road.
it would be neat to have some scenes going on with minifigures throughout the layout, such as a lost dog, or a car crash, or even a picnic with ants on it. it could make looking around the city a lot more fun!
The spot you have to put a building on, you could make a parking lot, so you wouldnt even need to worry about a new building. Also it could integrate into the engine house as the train workers cars too
You know what would be cool if you're doing it. Is in the modern city have a castle ruin as say a tourist attraction. Then if you're building a medieval section build the same castle but not as ruins.
The place you have set aside for another building could be used for a small dirt or cobble parking lot which would keep the sight lines to the tunnel and give the shortest route for cars to drive, maybe a small tourist kiosk with information about the village
At the village instead of a small house by the tunnel Why not a small parking lot with a light post for all of the villagers to be able to drive to the city. It’ll make the village feel more occupied
AMAZING! I love when you add the greenery. I think you should make that town car free! You could leave it attached to the road for bikes and pedestrians walking! And then maybe add some bollards or cool "concrete" barriers to only allow bikes to get past.
Your commitment in time and money and scale have to be unmatched in the Lego community. Even the subsurface layering goes far beyond what most people would attempt. I imagine keeping the city dust-free is itself a full weekend chore. Incredible job.
Something I always thought would be cool when I was a kid, was if there was a bubble in the middle of a lego city that a person could go under the city and put there head up into so they could see the "inside" of the city! Of course, now there are cooler things, like small cameras that can do the same thing!
Looks great, maybe in time you could ad an open mine like in Kiruna (sweeden) between the rural area and the planed airport. Then you would have a lowered level for the pit with mine tunnels going out to the front of the table, giving your city some beginning undergrund action.
The tunnel looks amazing, and it’s so cool that it can be taken apart easily for maintenance!! I think the empty space would be a lovely area for a little pasture for some cows or a horse
Hey Brickcrafts, awesome builds once again. I have a small remark about the windmill in the background of the tunnel part. I think you should remember that mills have a purpose. They can e.g. be used to process wheat into flour, to power a lumber operation, to drain water from a piece of land, to extract oil from seeds, etc etc. It might be a good idea to figure out why that mill is situated there, since there are no wheat fields around nor is there a lumbyard. Also it is in a hilly area, and those dont need the water drainage. Adding e.g. a small wheat field or a small lumber operation around it would really add to the overall logic in the LEGO City!
In the half timber village, you could create a horse stable which would add some more animals as well as more diversity to the city. It wouldn't have to be tall either :)
Your series has inspired me to want to create my own lego city. I know it is extremely expensive, but, when you are young you usually don't get the luxury to buy what you want, and your ideas about hobbies that are seen as "childish" are usually put down. Now I want to do something I never got the chance to, and make it my own place to express my creativity. Thank you for creating your content. I bet it has inspired many people just like me to follow their lifelong dreams.
Maybe the new building near the entrance to the village could be a sort of Visitor Centre, where folks would pick up pamphlets on the villages history or buy tickets for guides and what-not
I haven't built with lego in over a decade, but I still get SO excited when I see this week's video has been released!! I absolutely love this city and the way you film / narrate your process!
I think you should have a parking area near the town so the road connecting makes a little more sense. There’s no where for cars to park or even drive through in the town. Everything is beautiful but I think this little detail will help.
For the car, I think it would be a great idea to try and build an old timey truck delivering crates or something like that, would fit in with the scene, and still make sense for the road being there
In the big open space maybe put a windmill so residents in the town won’t have to cross the main row to reach it. There could be farmlands there, apple trees, raspberry bushes, strawberry bushes, flowers maybe wheat farms idk?
I LOVE your work, you are by far the best I have seen. Saying all that You gotta fix where the train tracks cross the road. Maybe you could add the village parking lot to the green tile instead of adding a house. I think it would fit in right next to the road intersection and railtracks without making the village look more car centric. Perhaps the parking lot could look more rural with gravel instead of asfalt. :)
I think it’s kind of a huge idea to plan and make but if you extend the mountain in the back enough it would be incredible to implement a little ski resort on it with a working lift and everything ! Anyway, i’m always looking forward to next saturday for the lego city update ! Keep up the good work dude ! Love it ❤

Great idea
You should build it with a water tower(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧

Don't yell! 😂. Great idea 🙃
That would be cool
adding a bus stop next to the path leading to the town would allow residents to get into the city by road and would keep the town walkable
Great idea!

Good way to justify the village streets to road connection while keeping the village car free

Isn't a sideroad right after a tunnel a bit dangerous? Maybe add traffic signs or one of these mirror signs?
If you scale it in terms of minifigures it might be too close. But if you sclae it in terms of the houses it looks a good 100m away.
It probably is, a mirror would be absolutely fitting at that corner!

Wow, what a beautiful village. Someday you must build a LEGO museum using your creations.
The Pigeon should get a little reference somewhere in the city, perhaps as a bird terrorizing some Lego civilians.
I really love the smooth curve of the hill when contrasted with those jagged rocky mountains! it adds so much to the city

The rock face really adds to the hill.
I think for that little village, maybe you could have one or two classic cars around, just to give a more country side feeling.
I’d love to see a Ranger tower outpost in the forest
And for that one house, maybe you can make it into a farmhouse? With animals and such.
The pigeon was an agent sent by the Bourgeoise - your ever expanding Lego city is making you too powerful!
That tunnel building technique is insanely creative. Well done! Too bad it is far away from the visitors.
if you wanted it to be a car-free neighbourhood just make it a bus stop or just for scooters they use the road too!
Definitely one of the best Lego cities on CZcams!
Now you need to build a big LEGO scarecrow to keep birds out!
Maybe you should add a beach connecting towards your harbour. Just a suggestion, that's all
I'd still like to a level rail road crossing, the bump you have now looks a bit too steep for the scale and trucks would probably get stuck on it. Adding a gradual incline to the road would help a lot.
Great creation, man 👍🏼
