THANKS FOR WATCHING!
Good morning, 3 years ago, my husband and I sold our home and paid off all of our debt. We bought land in the mountains of Virginia. At age 66 and 63, we cleared a spot in the woods so we could pitch our tent . 3 years later, we're in our house we built and have 4 greenhouses. It's slow going because we do the majority of the work ourselves . We're raising our chickens, ducks, and sometimes turkeys. It's hard, hard work, but it can be done. We grow so much of our food now. Joe and I really enjoy your channels, and you guy's have taught us so much. Thank you, and God bless you guy's ❤️
This video made me smile & your comment put the icing on the cake. ;) Thank you & God bless you too!
Awesome and inspiring ❤️
🦋🙏🙏🙏That’s awesome
Diana very cool..we did the same 2 years ago.. Sold our house debt free bought 28 acres cash.. Have our 600sf cabin..a small green house..aspire to yours.. congratulations to you and husband.. It is hard work and dirty..lol..but debt free .. Thank goodness
You are an inspiration! ❤
Danny, I am 65 and building my homestead. This has been my dream for 45 years and I am now seeing my dream come true!
We have been so blessed with our fruit this year. We had to do a major pruning on our fig tree and were expecting a smaller harvest this year. Instead, it is looking to be our biggest harvest yet. We have limbs so full and heavy with fruit that they are laying on the ground. Other limbs are higher up and it looks like we are going to have to tie them up to give more support to try and protect them from breaking. We are so thankful for what the Lord is doing. I've been tied up with doctors and surgery that I've been limited on what I could do. But our God is an awesome God & He provides. 🙌🏻
We turned 70, 71 … bought an acre + last year. Just getting started, but it’s a peaceful spot surrounded by farms and private people. Just started working on the land. Blackberries are planted and the little scrub apple tree is full…first time in years. No garden this year, but I’m planning! Never too old !
I did not know that about pears. Soft at the top is ready to pick. Thank you!!❤
I have had an abundance of every thing I’ve grown & harvested so far this year, peas, green beans, cucumbers, squash, Yukon potatoes, berries. My tomato plants are loaded too, waiting on them and okra to be ready. Even my herbs are showing out, in my mind and soul I know God is saying he is blessing me before things shift. Someone will be blessed to own Deep South homestead property!
Isn't it a good thing... when you can see the return for your labor. I'm so proud for y'all 🙇♀️
Isn't it just amazing how food springs from God's good earth as "volunteers" when a seed drops to the ground, yet, so many people say they can't grow a garden. Lol
May The Lord continue to bless and keep y'all! Great video!
My blueberry and peach tree limbs are having the same abundance, praise our lord Jesus Christ
The fruit trees are making so much because of the drought last year. They think they are going to die, so they reproduce like mad. Newton, Ms here and I have the same thing going on.
I've noticed that too.
You must be right. Our plums and peaches are LOADED!
Doesn't look ragged from here! Looks lush and green 😍
Someone will be getting a turn key homestead.
Another great video. My husband and I moved fron Colorado to Florida in our mid 50s to start all over pray for the best for everyone
Good morning Mr Danny and Ms Wanda. Amazed the pond is still so low. Must be hard to let go of DSH. Whomever gets it will truly be blessed. Thank y'all for sharing. Have a blessed day.
So much fruit! Someone will be truly blessed with Deep South Homestead. It is a ready made paradise.
GOD BLESS U2. I LOVE YOUR FARM LIFE . O'YET AND YOU GOT FIG S. O I LOVE FIGS.EAST TENNESSEE 🐓
Has anyone on here ever fried a small amount of okra and green tomatoes together chopped up just to make them go further? I did one time when there wasn't enough of both to make a full meal with other foods! But they were pretty good cooked together! Everyone Be Blessed!
You two are an inspiration.
I am 69 and if my son is able to get moved to Texas from Washington state I will follow them down in a year or two from here in n. Idaho and set up a little place of my owm again. Never too old to do what you need with a little help from family or friends and God!!
Give the land its Sabbath.
Beautiful
Everything looks Beautiful, despite the heat!
Good morning. I too am in my late sixties and building a tiny homestead. Lot's of hard work but so satisficing. Looking forward to watching you guys and getting some ideas on how to do things. I want it to be sustainable for my advancing years. kind of work smarter, not harder. Thanks for all your videos. God Bless.🥰
Will be having VERY HOT & HUMID HEAT ALERT day here in NW Missouri -- today at 99*+ will feel like 100*-110*+ with lots of sunshine = DANGEROUS CONDITIONS until 10pm.
Have my 7 Rutgers tomatoes growing in containers & covered with an old white sheet to protect from hot sun. Plants are growing good & have lots of blooms & some small tomatoes developing.
(Was told that Rutgers is an older type of bush tomato that can stand hot sunshine.)
Always enjoy your videos.
GOD bless you both today. 😊
Be sure to water 2x a day containers or above ground boxes. I put sheet on tomatoes mid day. Ne Oklahoma. Hot early good luck
@@janetwethepeople9390 yes - in the morning before 10am & in the evening after 5pm I put a gallon of water each time in each of the containers to keep the tomatoes watered (unless it rains good). Excess water drains out of holes in containers.
Danny and Wanda, with all your hard work you have a beautiful acreage, healthy, and beautiful garden. beautiful animals too. God has blessed you both dearly but you work hard for it. I just wish I had the money to do what you’re doing. I would be there in a heartbeat, but I thank you for sharing your journey with us. God bless you both.
Greetings Danny and Wanda. You have a ton of pears and this is great.
You got a good food forest right there in the old chicken run but worms do like to find the tomatoes it seems
Your mulberry tree is so tall. Some of mine are now too and I've been up to my eyeballs in mulberries.
It's wise to let the land heal for now.
When you do get everything ready and decide to sell Deep South will be a blessing for someone.
Thanks for sharing and many blessings to you both
A lot of the wild berries seem to be coming to maturity 2 weeks to a month earlier this year.
❤❤❤❤Beautiful trees and I love that your letting the grasses grow and the land rest!
Good morning brother!
Morning brother
I am so jealous! I love pecans . Can’t afford to buy them. Cost more then meat here,
Great video one thing I noticed over the last 10 years because I'm out working the ground virtually every day is the ground does not hold water no more
Very true
Good morning Mr.Danny and Ms Wanda 😊
OMG, Deep Sout Homestead is so beautiful. If I have the means, I’m surely one of the many who would line up to acquire DSH when it’s available for market.
You are blessed
Everything looks fantastic.
Thanks for another great tour of your beautiful, bountiful, beloved DSH. It’s such a relaxing experience just to see all of God’s blessings through out the property. Whoever the new owner will be, they will have a beautiful place. I love it!😊
fyi, I have been subscribed to your channel for YEARS and this is the first notification I've had of a new video from you in a LONG, LONG time. I just went to your page and I see you have been regularly uploading content. Guess I will have to just check in every so often to see if there is anything new. Gotta love it. It was nice seeing you two again though.
Everything looks beautiful!
Good morning. How is the new big boy doing this morning? He's a good looking little bull.
Great.
Amazing pear tree
Save those Pear seeds!! Some of us would LOVE to try to sprout some! ❤
I noticed the beautiful blooms on the sweet potato vines, I have heard that I should pull the blooms off and not let them on. Have you ever heard that? Thank you and God Bless!
Will you be taking some clippings (babies) from your great grandpa's (or is it great, great Grandpa) fig tree at Deep South Homestead to take to Pecan Grove?
Great video! A great way to tend the land!
Do you ever eat squash flowers? I dip mine in egg, 1/2 flour1/2 cornstarch and seasoning salt, and fry.1 year we had 30 zucchini and barely got any because we ate all the flowers.
A bit off topic, but have y’all ever considered growing olives in containers in the high tunnel? Some varieties will do well into zone 8, but I think they might want a little less water than the rain provides. I’m just thinking… ‘bout blessing y’all with some for Pecan Grove. Just cuz. I wouldn’t be surprised if, down the road, y’all were to put in another high tunnel - or more - at PG. I have located a source for white mulberries, including the white Pakistan, but now is not the season for shipping them. Hmmm. 😉
No. Not at this time
I am watching you pick pears from your pear tree this morning. When we had excess to a pear tree we made delicious pear butter that we baked in the oven at a low temperature four several hours. The recipe should be online.
Good morning Danny and Wanda the 🍐 tree looks good. Have a bless day. God I good all the time.
Good morning
I think y’all are living in the Garden Of Eden… wonderful ❤️🌿
Good morning Danny and Wanda
🙏🙏🙏♥️🙂👍. Thank you for sharing
You're just showing that you can outwork me at your age is what you're doing, I'm 57 LOL. I really Love this channel and Pecan Grove. I really hope that there is a safety mechanism for storing your videos for future use...if we have that much of a future heheh.
Good morning!
How can you harvest and put up all that fruit by yourselves? It seems you would need a whole staff to help you!
We harvest a bucket at a time. Easy when you prioritize food first
Fresh figs ,my favorite fruit
I had that same variety of pear tree! The pears were super duper sweet! Storm came through and broke it all up. I wasn't able to get any cuttings to survive. :(
My dad used to do this every fall, let the grass grow
The next owners will be blessed to buy your property.
Thanks so much for the relaxing video!!! Love to you both !!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🕊️🕊️🕊️❤️❤️❤️
Good morning! I learned a long time ago to mow my grass high so the sun doesnt cook it! Works well!!
Love yall!
Y'all's grass looks good. Mine is brown and crunchy in south Alabama.
🦋Good Morning Deep South Family.
I love to hear your stories. It reminds me of my Pap. Miss his stories. Have a Blessed Day everyone
The fruit trees are beautiful. 👍🌱💕🙏🙋🏻♀️
Thanks, didn't know about checking the ripeness of the pears. We lost all of our plums and peaches last Friday night to opossums.
Grrreat
🦋🥰🙌Shared on my Community Page. You guys rock ❤
The blooms on your sweet potatoes are so pretty!😘❤🙏🏻✨
That fig is really loaded. Mine is missing something other than rain. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Man, oh man . . .the pears and figs are gorgeous! Xo
🌱
I've done that in my 60s too.. I'm considerably slower at it than you are but it's coming along.
Didn’t realize y’all were gonna sell DSH😢
Oh beautiful Deepsouth how can I leave thee?
Wow that tree is loaded. I prefer my pears hard for eating but soft for canning. I love pear pineapple jalapeno jelly.
Hi Danny and Wanda! I have a question. Hopefully you guys can give me some guidance. We have what we believe are peach trees in our backyard. They were here when we bought the house so we know nothing about them. The one tree produces quite a bit of fruit, but it is very small fruit and it is usually not edible. It doesn’t seem to ripen and definitely getting attacked by insects of some sort I believe can you tell me what I can do for these trees that will help it produce fruit that will be edible? Thank you so much for all the wonderful things you have taught us over the years. I love you guys and I love your channel.
I would have to see the trees.
❤🍐😊
My peach tree is laoded this year and a month ago I noticed peach leaf curl, so I removed all those leaves and so far so good, haven't noticed anymore. I'll have to treat my tree this fall :(
I treated mine 3 times and still got the dreaded curls badly! Contemplating to cut tree down as it gets curls very often
How many acres is Deep South homestead.!!
❤
Ooooo look at all those yummy figs! yum yum yum!
Your fig trees are loaded with beautiful fruit. Mine have lots but they seem to fall off before they can get large & ripen. Im not sure how to fix this problem. 😢 Thoughts or suggestions? I'm in DFW Texas.
👍
Can’t y’all get a board & brace to the ground the low hanging limbs full of fruit … my grandpaw used to have to do that
Where is Danny moving to?
It’s time for me to shake the tree and put up some pears and getting a few figs… I cooked sum figs yesterday, just to eat
Where's the Toro mower?
I have hydrophobic soil and many areas of my property do you have any advice on how to correct it?
Our pear tree is also loaded, first time in years, and the wind broke off a couple of branches. The branches grow straight up, no horizontal branches on it. If we trim it back, will the branches spread out? Is fall or winter the best time to trim it? The fruit is so high, we can’t reach it. Thanks and God bless!
Yes wait till fall to trim
💝👍👍💝
What is the difference between muscadines and scuppernines?
Why didn’t you think the pears?
Are you sure you want to sell? Don’t you have someone in the family who could benefit from all of your hard work?
Are moonglow pears good for canning?
Yes they are awesome in halves
I wish I liked figs. But I never got the taste for them. I have a pecan tree it's is over 30 feet tall never gave us one pecan. I wish I could figure out why.
Pollinators or zinc deficiency
Great property - hopefully the next land owners will keep it up as you two have. Sadly, I have seen it so many times where the next owners simply neglect all the hard work you have done and within five years you’d be shocked in the poor state everything is!!
Oh no,your selling Deep South and your beautiful off grid cabin.😢
At some point we will.
God is providing!
Maybe to thwart the globalists food shortage,
and/or to help feed the tribulation saints/others.
