My new homemade train speeding over abandoned railway tracks. Power draisine on railroad

- After my previous rail cart got stolen, I managed to find some new train wheels on Craiglist. This time I went for an even more exciting build. This time around, the frame is made of steel for better stiffness and the engine was upgraded to a Suzuki 125cc 2-stroke engine. Coupled with a 6-speed transmission to deliver its 14hp to the tracks! It works wonderfully, so wonderfully that the top speed is still unknown because I got scared in 5th gear at around 50km/h.
Theoretically, it should be able to do 70-80km/h

Absolutely brilliant man, I love everything about this video, scenery, pooch, kart, running on old rails, pooch's reaction to deer.
You sir are winning at life!
More power to you
THANK YOU for the kind comment! Definitely motivates me to bring out another video
I'm glad you're motivated towards more videos, I'll be keeping an eye out for sure.
Personally, I'd love a video on the kart itself detailing the design, just a thought for content.
G'day from Australia.
m3nathan was gonna post a comment, but no need you’ve said exactly what I Was gonna say !!!.Love it
@@insevanhouts How do you turn the cart around to come home?
@@BigKeithDog There's no real need to, this railroad goes to a town high up on a mountain. Turning the engine off, putting it in neutral, and let gravity do it's work!
Omg it’s like Disneyland but with no safety technicians!
*no safety whatsoever ;)
How great to live in a Country that leaves the tracks in situ after abandoning a line.
I never understood they bothered to remove them, the metal isn't worth shit. Probably only to prevent people from doing this ;)
@@insevanhouts Where is this.
France
@@insevanhouts The metal is actually very valuable. Here in the US, when a line is abandoned and it is going to be used for another purpose, such as a bike trail, scrapping firms competitively bid for the rights to the metals.
@@insevanhouts I believe in France they have to leave the rails in situ for at least 20 years after closure. Here in the UK they tend to tear them up pretty quickly after closure. Often only 1 or 2 years. Usually as soon as anyone mentions the word "Reopening"
Man's best friend and a beautiful country side, can't be beat.
Indeed, if I could do this it would be true relaxation. I'm sure his dog his having the time of his life riding through the countryside with his best friend!
Dog seems to be enjoying the ride! You should show him more often :)
I agree
Well he shows him quiet a bit
Dog is a pretty good engineer
I just randomly ran across these types of videos a few days ago and I can't get enough of them. By far one of the coolest things I've seen. Keep on railing 😀
Aaahw that's great to hear :)
@@insevanhouts and now we want part 2 : )
www.narcoa.org/excursions/clubs.htm Check this group out, lots of videos.
"Keep on railing"😂
Good times. A lot of us would like to take that ride with you and the dog. Thanks for sharing.
Install some blades underneath the cart to trim down some of that growth as you roll by.
My dad was in France in 1944. He said it was a dangerous place. Peace to all the good people of the world.
I love to watch rail speeder cart on abandoned rails and the green scenery is awesome ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks a lot :)
Lots of NOISE and smoke. Love it, as I'm sure the peace and tranquility of the forest does.
Haha not sure if sarcasm or not ;)
I was going to critique the audio but what the hey listening to the clack clack clack is all part of the love of the rail
This is a beautiful video! Please do post more if you make them. Thank you.
I will, thanks for the encouragement!
your dog looks like the most happy lab in the world on here!!!
:)
Lovely scenery. You are so fortunate to live in a place where the track is just left intact and undisturbed.
I didn't realize how lucky I was till I saw how many old tracks just get torn apart after they get decommissioned
It's incredibly foolish when they do that. They might be used again.
@@curiousnomadic If it was foolish, they wouldn’t do it.
@@sludge4125 Silly comment. Hindsight is 20/20. There are a LOT of foolish things people did in the past and they did it and it was still foolish.
@@curiousnomadic Think of all the track that has been ripped up and reused.
Do you think even 5% of that track could be profitably operated again? 3%? 1%?
when a person has this pastime to look forward to, it makes the rest of the world manageable. thanks for a great video.
Such a wholesome saying. Who said this?
Great machine - beautiful setting! Thanks!
Peaceful and serene, just ditch the oil burner, 4 stroke it my man.
I should! This was the cheapest option but the next upgrade will be all electric!!
I can just imagine the excitement, coming out of a curve and meeting face to face with a high speed train!!! Nice filming and beautiful scenery. Thanks for the ride!
Moest ik naast zo'n verlaten spoor wonen, dan zou ik hetzelfde proberen doen!!! Echt leuk!!!
Awesome. Love how the dog's having a blast too
He loved it! When he had to stay at home he would sometimes sneak out when he heard me depart. Fun times :)
Give that man a job in railway engineering!
I admire you Sir!! This is something that I've always wanted to do. Your choice of horsepower is proper, but your 6 speed transmission has me in awe! I don't suppose there's a need for 6, but it's gotta be comforting to know that you've got em anyway!!😂 (assuming that they are 6 fwd. Gears as opposed to 3 fwd and 3 rev). And your camera angles are great! If you have enough track, that would make a great day trip somewhere.
Anyway, I hope to see more of your journeys.👍
Thanks a lot for the kind comment! It's indeed 6 speeds forward. Top speed is yet to be discovered. But possibly in excess of 80km/h.
What I wouldn't give to have a ride like that. Majestic. Wonderful.
Wow! Thank you. I truly enjoyed watching this.
Very cool machine and scenery. Wow.
This looks like one of the best ways to enjoy a ride that I've ever seen !! Who has the right away if you meet another rail rider? Your dog is the best part !
For anyone living in the UK notice that leaves on the line don't need to lead to train cancellation!😁
You'd be surprised how much added lubrication a few squashed leaves can do between metal wheels on metal rails. Especially with a train of several hundred tonnes travelling at 50+ mph.
@@SD-tj5dhI wouldn't be at all surprised mechanical engineering is my day job. I know there's a reduction in the (kenetic) friction coefficient. I was just making a joke, that's why I put a smiley face at the end!😁
Hahaha, same story in the Netherlands! But yeah, those suckers slow me down all the time, especially when they're wet
@@SD-tj5dh Same a wet leaves on the road.. almost like ice at times.
Looks like so much fun! The puppy loves it as well. Awesome video, thanks for sharing!
I could watch this all day. Guess you have to watch for deer, fallen trees, broken track, low branches, and poison ivy.
Great video.
Love the opening credits.
Your subservient quadruped seemed to enjoy it...that's very nice.
Great scenery.
Thanks for this.
Great Zombie Apocalypse urban area vacate vehicle....with the fearsome black Labrador defense option!
Yaa that kind of feeeling
Fantastic video my friend. I remember your older videos and the scenic route. Very beautiful.
How beautiful! This is awesome!!
Someone STOLE your previous cart? I thought here in the U.S. we had a monopoly on genetic trash that stoop so low. Boy Ill tell you, I dont know much about France, but based on this video it looks to be a gorgeous place!
Fantastic freedom at last.
I absolutely love this kind of stuff, wish I could do the same😉❗️
This looks really fun!!
Excellent vid, thanks!
Wow, I love this. I can imagine packing some food and supplies and heading out for nice long relaxed tour.. sounds like a good way to spend a day to me.
My dog would love this stuff. Great video.
Awesome! Please post more! Great vid and sweet cart!
Beautiful scenery
well thats very cool, almost have tears in my eyes….good job on the cart as well, can see that the dog loves it....
Yay, new video! Very beautiful scenery.
I finally found the courage to edit it all together :D
Absolutely 💯. Great video 👍🙏
Great footage. Lovely scenery. Well done
Much appreciated!
Nice way of using the abandoned railway
Love your motorcar, great build! Beautiful place to ride! Enjoy your quite time!
Looks like lots of fun!
Just stumbled on this very cool vid. Thanks for sharing your creation with us. Quite an adventure, to be sure!
That's cool that your dog likes to ride with you ! Nice video have fun !
Fascinating, I would love to do that!
Smokes like the real thing!
I love your extended exhaust pipes, both on this cart and the previous one. It makes them both seem rather quieter with the added benefit of directing the exhaust well away from the driver and passengers.
Wow a two stoker!!! Bad ass dude! I’m building one now!!
Absolutely love this! And the dog😁
That's just beautiful.
Would love to try that.
Very cool, hope I can try this one day!
Very nice. I looked at it several times.
would not be a bad idea to install a cowcatcher or other V type device on the front to clear debris away the rails and kart
I was thinking the same thing. Not only that carrying a weapon in case.
Harry Gaul France.... people don’t carry weapons for defending
Or some kind of weed eater attatchment to hit all those saplings
Before we know it this dude is gonna be running full-size trains on this line 😂
@@SunsetRailMultimedia A Bullet
INCREDIBLE!!! Winning at LIFE!!!
😎😎
Stunning footage 😁 sometimes these
Stay safe on these old lines
Amazing, have fun stay safe
How cute! I love that you and your Dog went on some adventures :)
The scenery very beautiful
Love the video somany beautiful places
The more I watch these rail cart videos the more I want to build one.Yours is one of the best I've seen so far.
Love the Dog in this video the star of the show
You could put rotating blades on to cut brush along middle of track, as a rollong lawn mower. Nice story love trains
Utterly awesome! The beginning of something BIG! Get yourself a little steam lokomotive which you can fire with them trees growing to close to the tracks and keep the railroad open. Good to see you got your dog along so he could help you get home in case you run out of gas....
That would be awesome, a railkart powered by the railway itself! I'll seriously consider it!
What some don't realize is the details you put into this video, like how you filmed yourself coming and going. Knowing you have to go back and get the camera. Great job.
This is fantastic 👍🏻 really nice job!
Best seat in the house! Nice track and rig man!
Sure looks like fun!!!! USA NH
Just beautiful.
Relaxing I bet
Very very very nice video, thank for charing.
Excellent!!
Such a sad commentary on the US; the abandoned rail lines in France look to be in far better condition than many of the active lines I have seen here in the States. Such gorgeous scenery as well!
I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw something this cool
great video, lov it
Très sympa et ingénieux.
Absolutely awesome.
Awesome 👍
Pretty awsome, have fun
That was fun, especially enhanced by the tunnels. Got scary when you lowered the camera behind the engine and obstructed the view so I couldn't see in case I needed to hit the brake.
Wow very cool . Good for you
Very nice ride :)
Awesome !
The Passenger is really digging it too
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for the cool upload.❤❤❤❤
I wish they would let us do that here where I live , that looks like it would be a lot of fun. Great Video 👍
Excursion with your best friend ? Priceless
Awesome video ....loved it
I'm glad you liked it!
Awesome ride I love alot
Brilliant!!!! Properly uber kewl!! :-)
Bonjour! This looks like fun.
Nice Great area to ride the rails ,, you are lucky
