It won’t bring you happiness. A week later you’ll be wanting something else.
Sometimes I can't help but feel there is more thought and effort goes into making it look pretty than goes into making it sound great. Take the Wilson Audio Alexx V. USD $130k - $150k and it uses cheap ass Scanspeak Revelator drivers in it. I had those in my last set of Sonus Faber Cremonas, but they don't sound as impressive as the Scanspeak Illuminators that I currently use.
It makes you wonder what percentage of these companies ever break even and where they get their money from in the first place. I hope the oil rich Arabs aren't stupid enough to finance this? If they did, why start 10,000 companies? Why not just start 10? Are these companies all stories of someone's life passion going down the drain? Or is this financialization run amok? I love audio and think that high end audio is even better. But I care about sound quality. Audio Note UK do it right. No fancy cases. No remote control because they can't get it to sound right. Pay their own money to get new types of resistors developed or to bring back the closest thing to a Black Gate capacitor. And almost zero coverage at shows like this or in the audio press. They don't pay for advertising yet still grow at a rate they can't keep up with. I just wish they would make amps for headphones. They never will but there's always hoping.
@@bunsw2070 it is sometimes very hard for me to fathom the thinking of some people. Especially the likes of these people who set out to create "high end" products. What makes them think that no names can demand top dollar for an unproven product. Most of these companies don't start at grass roots and work their way up. A lot of these companies that ask hundreds of thousands of dollars, start there. So I don't know if they are just marketing geniuses, or they just know how to make a product that looks so impressive that people are willing to part with ridiculous sums of money. Of course a lot of them come and go without ever cracking the market while other seem to make a living.
