Good job with this video. A problem I find very often is the fact that people use trusts as their alter ego and then once the corporate veil is pierced all the effort of setting it up is undone. So if I can add a tip… If you are a founder of a trust and are only a trustee it’s no longer your asset, it belongs to the beneficiaries

The course was good but more of a high level view. Your sheet that you provide for analysing deals is probably the best take away as well as the section on trusts. Is it possible to release a YT video or update the course to delve deeper into the financial breakdown of fees/costs and how you are using it with a little more detail. Thanks Louis :-)

Setup a Company within a trust. He literally said it in this video. “Donations tax to the company and it’s an easy way to move money from your personal name into the trust.” If you do the math, he has a company in a trust. 5:07

Thanks for watching. Yes it is. You will have to sell it to your trust which will incur transfer and registration cost. Or there is something known as a section 43 asset for share transfer If you want to use a company

Can you also make a video describing how a trust work? For example you are owning these properties and we all understand how that works. But what will change once the properties are no longer in your name? Or is it business as usual and nothing changes at all?

You can still be a trustee of the trust meaning you have control of it but you dont own it in your own name
@louisreynhardt I once heard another trust expert saying that I can be the only person in a trust. Meaning I will be the founder as well as the only trustee. He said as long as I'm not also the beneficiary there is nothing wrong legally with me being the only member of the trust. Is it really so?
@ntsokolomemani3874 that is correct. You can also be the beneficiariy as long as the trust deed stipulates everything correctly

It's worthwhile starting with no assets. Remember you grow your assets with time. Imagine driving through town waiting for all the robots o be green. You will never get to your destination if you keep waiting.
Would you consider FNB's Trustee service(s) a good option?
I haven't used it before, so i can't comment on it. But I prefer using someone that invests in property themselves. At fnb, you might work with someone walking into an accounting position with no property, handling your property structures.

I have 3 trusts registered but have not used them for years are they still valid?
It will still be active, but remember you have to submit your taxes every year for the trusts and have financial statements. I would suggest reaching out to an accountant to find out what needs to happen.
So once the Trust is set up/up and running you will not have a say as to how the Trust is managed but it will be managed by the trustees? Am I getting this right?
Yes rhats correct, but you can be one of the trustees effectively controlling it but not owning the assets in your own name
Can you transfer a property you haven’t fully paid into a trust?
Yes absolutely, but It will have to be sold to the trust meaning there will be conveyancing cost involved.

Just curious, how many bank accounts should we have?
You can still have your normal personal accounts, and you will have one for each entity. So if you have one trust ( property trust) you will need one account for that trust.

Do you mean in your personal name ? Or in different entities. The bank accounts itself doesnt really matter, but the different entities are what gives you protection.

Why is it not smart to include your name or surname in the trust name?
It just makes your bussiness more anonymous which gives you some extra protection. You can include your personal details. I just choose not to. Hope it helps 💪🏻
