While creating the video script, I made a mistake that carried over to the narration. Howie Long does not have five Super Bowls; it is actually five ALL-PRO titles. I apologize for the error. Since I don't have a team and handle everything on my own, mistakes can happen. Nevertheless, we will strive to avoid errors in the future.

The great RAIDER, loved watching him play. I was sad when he retired; however, best to leave the game before more damage to the body. Thank You for the memories. Howie is my favorite all time football player.

Before Howie came along, most D-linemen weren't expected to be equally as effective against the run and an above average pass rusher at the same time!

My favorite memory of Howie playing was chasing Elway around.
John was a nimble quick guy for his size and Howie was relentless.

Howie was a customer at the bank I worked at, whenever he or his wife Diane came in they both were very nice and their sons were very well behaved. It was a pleasure to have them as customers.
When Howie and Diane moved to Charlottesville I worked on their house. Both were really wonderful and down to earth. It was a pleasure to work with them.

Always loved watching Howie Long play, he was a hard-nose player and he gave it his all. He has done a great job since transitioning to TV.

Howie Long owns the best record ever - the most volley balls launched up to the roof of the 4-story Bunker Hill Elementary School. We played punch ball on the asphalt baseball diamond that was “field” back in the day. Old Charlie the Janitor would have to go retrieve them once a week from the roof. He was a huge, beast of a young man back in the early 70’s. 😉. Gentle giant.
Howie said that if he knew the Raiders were moving back to Oakland in 1995 he would have never retired.

Remember that Howie was around a bunch of crazy people like John Matuzak, Lyle "Three Mile Lyle" Alzado, Matt Millen, Ted Henricks. Those players around shaped him to be aggressive. He was born to do TV like with NFL Films and even did a TV diary on Inside the NFL. So when he retired and went to Fox pregame, he was a perfect fit

I was 15 year old football camper at Sonoma State, and a guy in football shorts and tank top was walking across the field, I thought he was a heckuva big guy to be in a highschool camp, he came up to our group smiled and patted us on the shoulders and encouraged us to have a great practice. The biggest guy I had seen in my life...although Bubba Paris came to our end of year pop warner banquet to speak, but I was too young to realize his immense size at the time.

I would have to say Howie Long was held on about 70% of his past rushes and most of the time they were never called I wish he would’ve kept playing, especially since they returned to Oakland a couple years later, but that was his choice and look at the career he’s had after the NFL.
my son Chris played high school football with Howie's son Chris in Charlottesville, VA. He retired with good health and was able to move on with great success in broadcasting

I was born in 1976. As soon as was old enough to even a faint naive understanding of nfl; when I thought Raiders, I thought Alzado and Long. Later came along an “ok player” named Bo. Long=Raider/Raider=Long. #tuff #grit #ferocious.

I really appreciate Howie's work as a player and commentator. I think it was the right decision to retire. Unfortunately, considering the hidden risk that is involved with the sport, get out when you have secured your financial future. Having said that, I am a fan of football. I really wish there was a way to preserve the game and significantly reduce the risk of serious long term head injuries.

Howie was the reason I wanted to play football.
Many quarterbacks knew long well, they also knew if long was within field, to exit pocket, as quickly as possible, nearly as a rocket. Woodson legacy cornerback, many quarterbacks knew him well, they also knew that best to leave pocket, opposite side woodson the rocket.

I liked Howie as a player, despite hating the Raiders forever, but when he became that crew-cut commentator, I was out. Terry Bradshaw and Dandy Don Meredith might have been ridiculous buffoons when given a microphone, but they were at least amusing. Howie not so much.
