my brother had some that bred.
so he threw 4 at me.
i have them in a 30 gallon atm.
and i will say it's big enough for now, but i can bassically hear them asking me for a pond.
and now i have to build a pond xD cause I don't have the heart to give them away.

i also have 4 white skirt tetras in there (it was their home first before the shibunken crashed the party)
but the good part is that the skirt tetras are so fast they can nab the food way before the derpy bros

I have lots of them in my pond and my tanks ❤

I would say 75 gallon is bare minimum for any number of them, but in a 75 you can keep a few. It would be cruel to keep one in less than that in my opinion.

I agree. Not only that, i feel like it would be cruel to eat fish. Or any kind of seafood

Yeah.... No. Once in a blue moon a shubunkin grows over 8 inches lol. This is also only achieved if kept in a pond or aquarium in excess of 100 gallons. Vast majority of them grow about 5-7 inches meaning they are perfect for the '20 gallon for first goldfish and another 10 for each additional individual.'

@@stylishcanadianhistorian1433 Even a simple CZcams search of common goldfish will totally disprove you here. They are common goldfish and get well over the size you are claiming with proper care. You might stunt one in a tank as small as 20 gallons, but it wouldn’t thrive. Do a little research. They very commonly grow to 12 inches and they produce far too much waste for 20 gallons of water, and it’s not the best to keep them alone anyways.

And yet fish stores won't hesitate to house 20-35 of em in a 20 gallon tank.

I agree cause they are known for getting bigger
than normal so as the ole saying goes BIGGER
Is ALWAYS BETTER for such breed of fish.

So if I got a 20 gal long would I be able to put a shubunkin in it? Saw these at a store and they are adorable, considering trying to get one.

i think the 0 (you mention zero) nitrates is not realistic. You cannot achieve that without many many plants.

The tank does not stunt goldfish growth, water changes do because you remove their growth hormone
