    Instead of forking out for titanium, just lubricate a steel knife. I wash mine only once a year when I replace the grease, I never dry it, and it's still not rusty.
    Also, everyone knows the size of the knife is directly indicative of diving skill. All those teensy tiny blunt blades are for n00bz! Real pros dive with full dual-wield swords!

    How are knives controversial? Ban knives now! Then ban hammers, then sporks.

    Interesting breakdown. The spiderco h1 dive knifes are awesome. I about 100 SW dives with it and almost no rust. The edge is still sharp (ok I sharpen it some).

    I have to agree on selecting the new Aqualung Squeeze knives for this video. They are really comfortable to hold, easy to use, and have multiple attachment options. I also agree that they need the titanium version in a blunt tip...like, I want this knife in titanium so bad but really would prefer it in blunt tip. Any word on if that will be offered soon? If they won't be offering it I will likely buy the stainless steel small squeeze blunt tip as it still got a top rating from ScubaLab as far as being rust resistant after being left in saltwater for 24 hours.

    i thought a dive knife had only one real purpose,stabbing sharks that got to close.Might there be a video i could be directed to that would have a knife comparison from the shark stabbing angle?

  • @rmod42
    @rmod42 Před 5 lety +5

    While titanium knives do not rust like the steel ones, you fail to mention the inferior edge holding of the material and how much more difficult it is to reform the edge once it is lost. Stainless might need to be washed occasionally but its easy to sharpen and even with use it stays sharp. I would argue that's a better trade off than a knife that doesnt have rust patches but couldn't cut butter.

      Plz, hv a close peep over the quality titanium blade, the joint n comfortable grab holder, particularly the asbestos rubber material, plus firm palm grab which impossible to lost the blade part in the depth. Quality speaks louder... cow n goat both have horns...🌝

    I dive with two knives, a Tusa Imprex X-pert II mounted on the inside of my left calf, and an XS Scuba Mini Fogcutter on the right shoulder of my BC. I learned to dive in the California Channel Islands and the whole area is basically one giant entanglement hazard, so all my gear is optimized for not getting tangled (reg is mounted upside down, for example) and getting myself untangled when it happens.

    "Scuba Pro" titanium dive knife won't become rusted for lifetime, maintenance free, no need for lubrication... I hv been using it since 1996 until now. Highly recommended. It comes in 2 sizes. Big one n small one.

      Have you been using it since 1996, or have you been carrying it since 1996? If it's the latter, you might want to check the cutting edge.

      I have one H2 (they don't have access to H1 steel anymore).
      They're amazingly rust proof, and with a serrated edge you can cut through pretty much any rope.

      My only tip is that you should scratch out the H1 symbol with your finger nail. The symbol is carbon and what makes the blade rust free is the fact that it's carbon free. So the H1-symbol might rust XD

    As usual I love you're vids! Personally I use and love my aqualung big squeeze with flattip... But even tho Iam anal about my stuff it rust relatively easy where the stainless steel goes into the handle... Now Iam coating it after rinsing and drying with a special gun oil (frog lube) and now it always smells winterfresh! 😎 Greetings from France!

    I've got the Aqualung squeeze knife and it is very ergonomic, but it comes absolutely blunt, it wouldn't cut butter let alone line! With the serrations it is also quite tricky to sharpen without a sharpening stone.

      Agreed. I got a SS one last year the edge on it was terrible. The setup is good but very crapily sharpened considering the price.

    • @oceandiver327
      @oceandiver327 Před 5 lety

      Hii... Mr. Jimmy... I like NZ as well as my dive knive. We pay the price for quality. It's time to head to Scuba Pro Titanium for entanglement in spite of butter. We are not suppose to kill a shark by a dive knife... 🌝

    • @bloodymarvelous4790

      @@oceandiver327 A sharp knife is a safe knife. The blade should cut through the object with minimal pressure. That keeps the knife from shooting through when it does cut the object.
      I'm personally a huge fan of the EezyCut Trilobite. I have several of them.
      I also carry one Spyderco Salt 2 folding knife with a serrated edge, and one pair of trauma shears.

    If you want to cut knife crime let’s work on the idolising of gangsta rappers as having role models that are rebel criminal heroes should not be seen as strength.blood clart ting homie ya get me. As for knives I’d be dead twice now if I had not had a knife & in fact one wouldn’t go through rope round my manifold so I used the bigger one so 2 knives as they are losable & the straps keep the air out of my drysuit legs anyway.i prefer ones with sheers as you can’t slice fishing tracer wire.i do stab fish but a blunt tip works for that so I grind the tip off for safety.i coat the knives in a layer of silicone grease to rust proof it.
