    Boy do I understand the "Quiet" aspect. 3 years ago i finally moved my big compressor OUT of my pole barn and into my shed adjacent, then plumbed it into my building, WOW! is it nice now!

    Drain valve is at the bottom of the tank. The switch you point out is a high pressure pop-off safety switch. I do like your videos and the builds you do. Thanks for the info you provide.

    I’ve had mine for a few months now and use it 2-4 times a week. I can talk to my wife in a normal volume standing right next to the unit. No issues so for. As of now, I’m completely satisfied with it.

      If my air lines are air tight, could I keep it on 24/7 so I could keep it hooked up to a pneumatic can crusher?

    • @Dragonuv2002
      @Dragonuv2002 Před 2 lety +1

      @@ltsallwood I don’t see why not. I’ve had mine pressurized for a month at a time with no loss. Of course the pump isn’t constantly running 24/7, but it is on and pressurized. I just drain the condensation about once a week and haven’t had any problems.

    I ordered this from Lowe's to have a bigger compressor to spray liquid mask from my Harbor Freight HVLP gun onto my Rc bodies. But quick question, Let's say I want to start using this to airbrush my RC bodies as well as spray liquid mask, what moisture trap/regulator are you using? What size is it and does Lowe's sell it as well?

  • @coryperemsky

    Got this compressor a couple months ago. Basically every fitting leaked and I had to add Teflon tape to most and Loctite thread sealant to the one going directly into the tank on the top. After that it a hold its max rated pressure for weeks if you wanted to. The best thing about this compressor is that it is genuinely quiet. Compared to the average compressor its at least 25% quieter just going by ear. its about as loud as one of those small Slime branded tire air compressors you can buy at Walmart. It fills up the tank in about 4.5 minutes from empty. I've read the speed slows down as it gets used but so far so good. Also the regulator seems really cheap but is working like it should.

    The pressure regulators on these have issues. I'm almost 2 years into owwning mine and I have to swap it out becaus eit leaks anything past 60 psi on tool side.

    I have yet to turn my on, and I purchased it if I'm not mistaken back in December of 2021.
    However I'm worried about using a drop cord and I realize most cobalts work pretty good on a good grounded drop cord what is your recommendation. (My setup is like yours where I have mine in the corner of the garage too.)

    Good video on the compressor.
    I'm also in the Market for a Portable Compressor.
    I have look and compared specs online and in stores of Canadian Tire, Harbour Freight, Lowes, Home Depot,
    and Princess Auto.
    I found the the Central Pneumatic from Harbour Freight, 29 gallon, 2 HP, 150 cast iron, vertical compressor at $379.99 USD. The best value I'm not considering noise, I'm more concerned about CFM at 40 and 90 psi.
    After comparing price and specs I found this model gave the most CFM for a plug in portable. Price not bad too.
    Kolbalt from Lowes makes one rated at 175 psi with 220 or 120 volts, but CFM was lower then this Harbour Freight 29 gallon, 2 HP above. It sold for $500.00
    Plans are to use the portable for painting engines, transmissions, rear ends, etc. Small painting jobs not requiring a big compressor. Uses can be for die grinders, right angle die grinders, etc.
    I got a big 3 cylinder 2 stage, which would be used for larger sand and painting jobs.
    But had a need for a portable 120 volt compressor.
    If the noise is high! Will build a insulted box to enclose it with a vent.
    Planning to buy later in April from HF or sooner.
    As for blasting cabinets Harbour Freight has one on sale for $149.95 USD which is a good deal. Princess Auto is selling a copy of the HF but in blue for $499.00 CAD.
    Same damn thing it is on sale for $250.00 CAD but HF is cheaper.

    It’s most likely just loud since it’s in a garage amplifying the sound. It’s not too loud but it would be quieter outside, most likely in that 70 decibel range.

  • @joshuabray37
    @joshuabray37 Před 2 lety

    I just got this compressor… another comparison… I have a porter cable pancake compressor (I think that’s what it’s called… It’s the kind that looks like a fish bowl with a motor on top), and I just returned the non-quiet Kobalt 20 gallon. Both of those were loud. When they were running, the noise level in my house was unacceptable (I run them in my garage, which is next to My family room). I could clearly hear it over my TV. With this 26 gallon quiet model, it’s just a low hum and can’t hear it at all with my TV. My family wouldn’t notice the noise at all (but with the other 2, they complain about how loud they are).

    Just remember that most of the time you really get what you pay for. Sometimes you might think you're saving money because something is so much cheaper but it ends up to be garbage. Eastwood is supposed to be very good. I will say besides things like the blasting cabinets and painting maybe a plasma cutter most of the other air tools are becoming obsolete bc of the cordless tools out and coming out. Especially Milwaukee cordless they're pretty badass.

    • @lsXmatt
      @lsXmatt  Před 4 lety +1

    I hate to be pessimistic but an oilless compressor and a sandblaster doesn't sound like a great idea. Sandblasters need tons of air. That unit will run continuously and you will be waiting on it to recover. Lots of heat and wear. If you have the budget look at the Eastwood rotary compressor. I've had a Craftsman for almost 30 years, it will only be replaced by a rotary

    That's pretty quiet. Watch the regulator pressure. I think that most air tools recommend 90 psi. I've ruin an air gun before because I forgot to turn down the regulator. I believe that's why they advertise the different ratings on air compressors.

    • @timharwell2735
      @timharwell2735 Před 4 lety

      Every air tool I've ever used recommends 90psi max, however every shop/dealership I've worked in has shop air set at 120-150 psi, and I've never had that high psi damage any of my tools. With that being said, I set my home compressor at 100psi.
