A British comedian on returning to the UK after some time in the States loved that he overheard on the bus a conversation overheard: 'How was your day?' - 'Crap, mate!' that made him feel at home after endless 'Have a great day now!' and the obligation to have a 'great day' every day! We have a right here to have a lousy day!
Exactly..I don't have Great days or Good days at best they're average days..uneventful is as good as it gets..too many health problems..used to be financial difficulty..now I'm old and often ill..if not one ailment it's another..or several at once..People can't stop themselves from saying How Are You etc..SURVIVING..you won't get a better response from me
the thing is, they dont mean the 'have a nice day', its just 'filler'
I know a lady who replies "Sorry I have made other plans,"
@@davidberesford7009 ' Though 'nice' is used to mean "pleasant," it historically meant "wanton or dissolute." '
So perhaps: 'Many thanks for the offer, but I am rather tired!'
@@davidmartin3947 I thought historically it meant to a high level of precision.
I'm knackered let's have a cup of tea to relax, explains everything
💯 agree with you friend! Cheers 🤍 Jess x
I am old and decrepit. I feel awful most of the time except when I sit down in my arm chair with a cup of tea and the radio tuned to CLASSIC FM.
Yorkshire tea, Sunday roast and the pub, your assimilation is almost complete, you will soon be One of us, one of us, one of us 😵💫

What a lovely video, so nice to hear someone appreciate our country for a change, your so welcome, pop round for a cuppa anytime !! x x
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
I live in beautiful South Devon, and have only just come across your videos and I am enjoying them tremendously!! When you have chance, come and visit us in lovely Devon, especially the glorious South Hams area. Keep up the ' work' !!
I live in a village we do not always say pub some say see you down local,
Regards the Mot. I couldn’t believe it when a friend of mine from the states told me it’s just a visual safety check. How crazy is that, I hate to think how many death traps are on the road over there. These people who protest about the Mot might think differently if god forbid somebody in there family was killed due to defective brakes or steering etc. Thanks for your lovely remarks, your well sorted Jess. 😊England will always welcome you and your family back hear with welcome arms. p/s did you have to pass your driving test over hear ?
On several visits to the West coast of the US I can confirm that there are indeed a great many "Old Bangers" on the roads over there.
Thank you for your love and support. It's truly appreciated. We did have a test we took to get our license here. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
i used to go out to the states quite a lot back in 2000-2001 mainly to indianna and michigan. The amount of times i saw a car drive past with no front bumper (fender) or one of the front wings was missing and you was looking at exposed wheel arch. I had to ask the missus if that was normal, she just smiled and said yeah it's fairly common...
As a Canadian, I completely agree. 👍🏽
Thank you so much for your time commenting and watching. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Fish, chips mushy peas, bread and butter and a cup of Yorkshire tea, one of the best meals in the world. Glad you enjoy our country
Oh God yes!!
Totally agree
I'd second that. Another one for me, would be steak and ale pie, chips and garden peas, washed down with a glass of cider.
Oh yeah!... 😋 Sounds good to me guys... In the early hours of this morning... I was watching the competitive eater Joel Hansen... He was trying an "All you can eat Fish & Chips" offer at a restaurant... At one point the kitchen staff wanted to cut him off... (Deny him anymore food)... Luckily after asking to speak to the boss... Everything was "sorted"... And Joel was allowed to continue ordering... But the Fish looked absolutely amazing... I was genuinely salivating watching him eating all of that lovely looking Battered Fish... I'll drop a link to the video here guys... Enjoy. 👍 ---------------> czcams.com/video/JUc6_x61Qjs/video.htmlsi=Hzi2aMZ1YGvQWfYT

I let a lady go in front of me at the supermarket checkout a year or so ago, she only had a few things. When she went to pay, her card wouldn't work so she looked through her purse for cash and didn't have enough. I said to the cashier "just put her items through with mine" it was about five pounds worth. The lady asked for my address to bring the money around to me. I just said " next time, you can pay for mine" I wait outside that shop every week.....
Nice. Cheers, Chris
The British sense of humour has so much Irony and self deprecation that it takes people from other countries a long time to understand and appreciate it, but you finally got there !
Incidentally have you had any interest in the US about your channel as other Americans living here sometimes do that you may be seen on US tv one day about your experiences here, especially when you return to live over there ?
Love the irony of it for sure. We haven't.. We're not sure what the future holds for us. We just love sharing and having fun with you all. Cheers 🤍 Jess x

Great video, especially your appreciation of the British creative arts and the need for tourists to get outside of london! We need more of that. Thanks.
Yes, British creative arts can be summed up as blaming all foreigners for Britain’s self inflicted economic failing. Pollution of the sea with raw sewage, and general destruction of the environment.

We are a polite nation, not knowing in a busy supermarket if there was a queue for the checkout I asked the person infront of me if there was indeed a queue or not, starting the query by “excuse me please is this the queue for the checkout” it was but noticing I only had a few items they asked me if I would like to go ahead of them as their cart/trolley was full
Often happens and do it my self, it’s only polite.
I ALWAYS allow whoever has a few items in their basket if they would like to go ahead of me in the queue...just common decency imo...

In with the National Trust, you should have included "English Heritage" which is similar, but they cover ancient ruins.
Aren't English Heritage the body who oversee any work on listed buildings?
@@Brian-om2hhthat’s Historic England
Not just ruins. Plenty of stately homes in perfect condition too.
I'm an ancient ruin and I'm a member of NT and EH. The National Trust started as a charity whereas English Heritage took over the responsibilities of a number of government bodies. So although EH has some houses, like Wrest Park and Audley End, it has most of the castles and ancient monuments.
Visitors to the UK should check the short term memberships to these organisations. US visitors can use the Royal Oak Foundation as a tax efficient way of getting National Trust access..
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing. Cheers 🤍 Jess x

Why I love being British in no particular order. Tea and biscuits, proper seasons, grumpy shop staff, the NHS, pubs and pub lunches, the countryside, the Royal Family, Parliament, unarmed police, total disregard for those richer than you or in authority, the BBC, British invented sports (which is almost all of them) and British inventions that make the modern world modern (jet engines, trains, tcp/ip)
Thank you for your time watching and leaving with us as to why you love being British. We appreciate your time. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Thanks for posting that Jess. There’s a particular video on the subject of British plugs & sockets that are, in my opinion, probably the safest & best designed in the world currently. It would make for a good & informative reaction video. Best wishes from Cheshire

When I was a lot younger the pub was even better, before pub grub was a thing most pubs on a Sunday would layout on the bar roast potatoes, crisps, nuts, and other treats which would make you thirsty so you would drink more also where I was from (London) a few evenings a week the pubs would have a sing song as there Was a piano in the corner and someone would play and a good time was had by all happy days, by the way I’m in my 70’s now and ready for the knackers yard😂
Sounds like it was a good time. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
The rest of the world needs more ladies like you Jess,,,so much fun and happy SORTED LOL
Oh, that is very kind of you to say! I absolutely love learning and experiencing new and wonderful things. I appreciate your time watching and commenting. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Jess the MOT is compulsory on all vehicles over 3 years old. It is done every year and checks many things including the cars exhaust emissions
Not on cars classed as classic cars, there's now no obligation to test them because as a rule people that own cars of that age keep them in tip top condition and would be expected to be in a reasonably mint above average condition and fully working, and so the government gives them special dispensation in regards to MOT testing. You are still entitled to one, but I'm not sure how it works if the car then fails. As to whether you cannot use it until the problem is fixed or if you can just carry on as driving it as normal (obviously if you love your car you would fix it).
I do know a few people with classic cars and instead of having an MOT, they just book it in for a pre-test at a garage once a year, where they will give it a once over and tell you if there is anything that needs immediate attention that would fail a MOT test, or give you an advisory like you get on a MOT. That way, you get to know what needs fixing without failing the MOT itself.
@@JacknVictor yes I forgot about classic cars island corrected
@@sjbict I just hope people don't take advantage and use it as an excuse to keep a dangerous old banger on the road.
There are always a few exceptions. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.

Our beautiful countryside is thousands of years in the making. All done by agriculture, hence the loss of wildlife. Hence no predators, only us. So pleased you enjoy it. You didn't mention the weather, if nothing else, it's not boring, it makes our countryside and we are rather obsessed with it. The passing of the seasons, the marking of time, from the meridian line at Greenwich to Stonehenge, its etched in our psyche.
No predators ? You've clearly not encountered a pride of ravenous squirrels.

Saturday afternoons in summer, cycling around the local villages and hearing that SO British sound of village cricket. The ball on the bat and men in their cricket whites, on the green in every village.
Oh, how fabulous. I'm so looking forward to another lovely summer exploring England. Thank you for your comment and time watching. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Some great observations there Jess which I go along with 100%. I agree with the annual MOT inspection though I think in recent years some of the checks are a little over the top. My BMW M3 failed its MOT in February due to an engine warning light which was indicating a series of faults including an issue with the battery and exhaust emissions both of which turned out to be BS due to a faulty sensor. Apparently since 2018, if an engine fault warning light comes on it is an automatic MOT failure even when it comes on in error. Wasn't an expensive fix but frustrating all the same.
That can be extremely frustrating. Like all things, there should be a good balance. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
I'm with you on the Yorkshire tea it's the best. Also, hi 👋 is great too because it's exactly as you said, saying hi and going about our daily business 😊 the sorted one is we just know that everything will be fine, my husband says this all the time and I know then everything is good 👍 xxx

Morning Jess there are many reasons why people don’t get to see and embrace what the U.K has to offer, no car, no money, disability, too lazy ( that’s me )so I find your trips inspiring and educational. You should get a petrol allowance from the U.K tourist board as I’m sure all the places Chris & yourself visit will inspire others to come. Your videos are pure travel not like some of your fellow countrymen/women who stay in London the whole time and seem to try and eat their own weight each day at the food markets, then say they’ve holidayed in England. Or worse still those who have never been here and in all probability never will and do reaction videos to everything, as you are aware to react to something you have to experience it first, I’m sure there are many things you’ve all experienced since being here that are completely different to what you thought, good & not so good I won’t say bad. As much as you are looking forward to returning home, I think Chris & yourself will leave a little of your hearts here when you do. But while your still here, enjoy and safe travelling.👍
We are so glad you're enjoying our adventures with us. We love taking you along with us, friend. The love we get from you all is just so heartwarming. We thank you for your love and support. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
I didn't expect the words Yorkshire Tea and Elite ever to be combined together.
But they did. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
Two things I think we should celebrate more in the UK are:
-The Proms. Not necessarily the last night, although that is the most famous part, it's the spirit and accessibility of the whole festival I think is important. It's a series of classical music concerts that runs the whole gamut of the genre and there are incredibly cheap tickets for people to walk up and buy on the day (and even the booked seats tend to be pretty good value from what I remember). Each year, the program is incredibly varied from new and experimental piece to old favourites, but what may be most appreciable to you is that there are family proms each year that have the intention of giving people new to the genre a taste of what it can be. Last year, to mark the 50th Anniversary of the death of Tolkien, they had a fantasy music prom which including pieces from hit movies and TV shows as well as some famous bits of classical music. Previous years have featured a computer game prom, and Ibiza prom (which can be seen in its entirety on CZcams). This was always the intention of them, to let people experience something that they may think of as elitist and maybe discover something that they end up loving.
The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures. It's a trio of lectures about a scientific topic that is aimed at children from about 8 right up to 16/17 done each year at Christmas, and they can be seen on TV. Similar to the proms, the idea is to inspire particularly young people about the possibilities of science. If you get the chance, last years lectures with Sue Black that were about forensic pathology were fascinating and I think they can be seen on CZcams. This is maybe something that is included in your love of British TV (along with the absence of drug adverts maybe...), but I always love to mention it
Those both sound like things that do indeed need to be celebrated more. Having a combination of entertainment and education. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
@@DaydreamersBarn No worries - the proms programme for this year is being published next Thursday or Friday if it's of interest to you and your family. I'm always curious what the weird ones will be...

The ministry of transport tests are a necessary evil!! No one really likes them but a key bench mark in safety. Worth remembering though they are only as good as the day it’s done. No substitute for regular maintenance and carful driving. Your adventures demonstrate good driving skills well done. Your family really has absolutely made the most of your time here although if you have the time head north maybe cross the border into Scotland. A life long friend of mine was a chaplain in the US Airforce and I know the job took him around the World. Like him you making the most of your time. We ask so much of our military personnel and their families. So I am pleased you are enjoying life with in the U.K.
I completely understand and agree. We love exploring this beautiful country. We are so blessed to call this home for a while. Thank you for sharing about your friend. We appreciate your time watching and commenting. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
They are not an evil, I'm a plus 50 very mechanically minded person that generally fixes most stuff on my (and my families) car(s) myself, and I see the MOT as a more in depth check on my car than one I could easily do at home and am happy to be told that my nearly 2 ton 100MPH weapon that I drive about in might not be safe for me or others.
Granted, there are some MOT test stations that see the MOT as a money making part of their business so they can get the job to fix stuff and rip people off, but, that's not a problem with the MOT, that's a problem with that garage!
@@ChuckFickens1972 yes I don’t disagree. Necessary evil really means they must be done. It’s an important inspection ensuring a vehicle is safe. It can cause anxiety for owners but who wants to drive an unsafe car on the road.
Your points are valid! The other aspect is an MOT is no panacea or substitute for regular checks. Sadly I was first on the spot when a car hit and killed a child. So yes the MOT is important.
I'm with you on the MOT, could you imagine how many unfit cars there are on American Roads, its quite alarming, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
💯 agree. I wish it was something in the US that was more of a regular thing. I really appreciate your time watching and commenting. Cheers 🤍 Jess x

Thank you! We are loving our time over here so far. Thank you for your comment and kindness. Cheers 🤍 Jess & family x
Mandatory safety and emission inspections are fairly common globally and, as you say, even a fair few US states have them. I guess some people feel responsible owners should need one but not all owners are. This said, most accidents, even in the US where most states don’t inspect, are due to driver error, with vehicle malfunctions a fair bit lower, but even if inspections save one life it seems worth it for me. Plus it keeps emissions lower. It’s also true that roads in say the UK are generally filled with more hazards such as pedestrians and cyclists so it protects other road users too
Most definitely appreciate your insight. Thank you for your comment. Cheers 🤍 Jess x

If you can, visit Boston. There'll you'll be able to visit the Stump - St. Botolph's Church, which is one of the largest churches in England. You can also visit the Guildhall, where some of the Pilgrim Fathers were imprisoned. Also, there is the Maud Foster Windmill. There's also Skegness and Cleethorpes - which are seaside towns. There is also Lincoln Cathedral to visit. As a Bostonian, I would say that it's best to stay at The White Hart hotel and use Boston as your base.
Boston is one that is on the list. We have heard a lot of great things about there. Thanks for watching and your comment. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
@@DaydreamersBarn Other than the Stump, the Guildhall and the Maude Foster Windmill, there isn't much else to the town. It's crud a la crud. Someone, who works at the care home, where my Mam lives, won't even go into Boston, as she is scared of what could happen to her. Plenty of shops are up for rent. There are too many bookies, charity shops and Eastern European shops. I would never go back to live there.

My UK mechanic also has an MOT testing station in his garage. So when they do the MOT I also get them to do a full service. So if any works needs doing to comply with the mot everything is done and dusted in 1 day.
In southern and northern ireland you have to go to a stand alone mot testing centre and its so annoying.
That is nice to have an all in one stop shop. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
I agree with all except one 😂… I would only use Hiya to greet someone I know- I don’t know why exactly but I feel it’s a very informal hello and a little more informal than hi, if I pass strangers I tend to say alright? Or morning/afternoon/evening!
Hiya would be more suited to when I meet up with close friends… there’s also a lot of different ways to use a word like hiya (which sounds odd) but if you say the word fast it’s less friendly than emphasising the length of time since meeting the person within the word hiya (almost said in a surprised, excited or overly happy way (almost like saying oh my god where have you been)
Hope that makes sense 😂… not saying you’re doing it wrong, just from my own experience I find it to be less common from a stranger in the street. X
Oh, thank you for your insight. Definitely appreciate your time letting me know. I understand where you're coming from. Thank you for your comment. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
1:13 the MOT isn't something that's offered, but it's more of a mandatory thing. Is it the same with some states in the US, where you're mandated to bring your car to a garage for a yearly check on certain things like brakes working, mirrors, etc.?
There is also of course servicing which you have everywhere including the UK, and that is something that is offered.
Some states or cities require it, but not the entire country. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
Wait - no MOT in the USA? Just a visual, crazy. We love the churches!! It's mental that every villlage has one and they're all so old. I hope we look after our countryside and it doesn't all go to housing! Cheers for sharing this 🍻
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
I'm glad that you like the word queue, it is actually a French word meaning 'tail', which I think is so appropriate.
Thank you! Appreciate your time watching and sharing. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Yes the MOT is good, some people find it annoying, but at the end of the day would you want to drive around in a death trap that's rotted away underneath, with your family ! Seen many many American garages or "shops " looking at cars that are basically held together with rust and refuse to get work done on it ?!?!? It blows my mind . Also when you buy a second hand car you can do a MOT check and see what's needs doing to it in the future. Bit more peace of mind.
They do serve a purpose. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
In addition to the National Trust, you should also consider English Heritage for all sorts of castles, historic buildings and sites, etc., especially as you also get concessionary if not totally free access (usually second year of membership) to Welsh and Scottish historic properties.
We are looking into that. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
Welsh CADW is cheaper than English Heritage, but again you only get half price for the first year to sites in England until it becomes free.
Thank you thank you thank you 🙏 so much for finally being someone to understand the word Hiya !! You have become part British and get that we say the word but don’t really want to hear ALL of your days problems 😖😴
It is something that is unique and very British. Jess loves it. Cheers, Chris.
Jess I did laugh at your comments on the MOT - could anything describe the difference between the male and female brain more clearly than the feelings around the MOT from you and Chris? I'm firmly in your camp BTW - MOTs may not guarantee your car is in tip top condition but at least they check the safety features such as brakes, steering, etc. You're definitely becoming an honorary Brit!
It does do a good job of showing the difference in the mind set. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
Sorted - as a phrase was a bit different in the late 80’s and early 90’s according to the Pulp song - sorted for E’s and wizz 😂
Cool, thank you for sharing. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
I love love Yorkshire tea !!! Lol.That's my no.1 favourite brand for English tea !! Although I don't drink it as often as I used to ,because I've switched my tea to all organic a long while ago .You can have it here in the U.S.!! I love British pubs ,although I don't drink ! Lol
My favourite black tea are ...Irish Breakfast ,Earl grey & Yorkshire tea & Marriage of Marco Polo !! 🫖☕️👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🇬🇧💕💞
I completely understand and agree. I drink more tea now than "Drink". I really appreciate your support and comment. Hope you have a lovely week! Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Hi ya Jess, you forgot, that over here in the UK, we drive on the left side of the road, which is the right side! 😂
Haha, good one, friend. Appreciate your comment. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
👍
BTW, how did your family photograph go at Center Parcs, or haven't you had it done yet?
The historical context for driving on the left is to prevent highway robberies back in the horse and carriage days.. I guess would be muggers would need to enter oncoming traffic to acost driver. Also where the phrase Riding Shotgun comes from as the front passanger would be armed with a shot gun.
Unfortunately Britain is losing up to 500 pubs per year .
Oh how sad! Thank you for sharing. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Hiya Jess, nice to hear from you. Re tea; an unbiased opinion( I can’t stand the stuff) from observing a real tea addict who has gone from Typhoo via P.G., Yorkshire and Yorkshire Gold to her final destination of M&S Gold. She cannot survive ( according to her) without the 6 mugs(not cups) minimum per diem of her nectar. At a pinch she will accept Yorkshire, but can’t wait to get home for a “proper cuppa”. So her suggestion is buy M&S Gold immediately!
Thank you, friend, for sharing! I definitely appreciate your time watching and commenting. Have a good rest of the week. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
You should try Twinings extra strong breakfast tea. Beats that Yorkshire dishwater hollow!!
Fab, thank you for your recommendation! We appreciate your kindness and support. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
I'm English, but have travelled the world, and lived and worked in several countries. Here's a few from me:-
THE BRITISH STANDARD ELECTRIC PLUG. It is so much safer than any other form of power connection, but don't leave it laying on the floor, it really hurts when you step on it.
FRESH COWS MILK. Many eastern countries don't have access to, or use Fresh Cows milk for Tea or Coffee or Cereals. They tend to use Condensed Milk, which spoils ALL of the above.
THE KETTLE. What better way is there to boil water for your drink?
PROPER REAL ALE. Not available in in most other countries. Most countries serve just an array of Lager.
DRIVING ON THE CORRECT SIDE OF THE ROAD. Not the Right side.
THE 50/50 PAVEMENT/ SIDEWALK RULE. This unwritten rule states that, when walking along a pavement and someone is walking in the opposite direction, each party must adjust their path to avoid collision with the other party. Too many ignorant people out there.
ROUNDABOUTS. Four way intersections just don't work, you don't know what the other 3 are going to do.
ENGLISH VOWELS. The English Vowels are A, E, I, O, U, not AIR, Eeee, AYE, OAR, YOU. Just me being a little bit pedantic, LOL.
I could think of a lot more, but this is getting too long.😁
Those are some good additions. Proper Real Ale has impressed for sure. Thanks for the comment. Cheers, Chris
'Sorted' has an interesting history. When I was a kid 60+ years ago, if you had a problem, you found someone to sort it out. The expression would be 'sorted out'. And it was like that right up to the late 80s and rave culture when it was used to mean 'I have enough disco biscuits for tonight' - but the word out was not used, so became 'sorted' - and now it has become much more general to mean everything is fine.
Fabulous, thank you for the wonderful insight on the history of sorted! I appreciate your time watching and commenting. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Hi lovely lady love the flowers. Very good choices. Question if you had a choice to stay and live here would you be honest. Have fun
I get flowers weekly to make my heart happy. My small joy one day, I want to own a small flower farm! I would love to own a house here in the UK and live here on and off. I love the UK so much, and I hold a special place in my heart and always will. Appreciate your support and love. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Thanks for the list - In the UAE in addition to an annual vehicles check conducted by the police; a vehicle has to be inspected and pass a harder test before it can be sold.
Everything costs money. Keeping historic properties going and open to the public is very expensive - many of us become subscription members of the National Trust, various Heritage trusts and even more importantly wildlife (including bird) trusts, preserves/zoos and protection bodies.
Many in the US seem to demean good language (English) - so please put back the “U’ and stop swapping “s” with “z”
It interesting to see how countries do things differently. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
If you like old churches you should make a trip to the chapel of st. Peters on the wall in Bradwell Essex, built 1400 years ago and still in tact. The local area is a lovely place for a visit in general.
That sounds pretty amazing. Thanks for the recommendation. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess0.
Thank you dear lady. That was interesting.
Thank you for your kindness and time watching. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
@@DaydreamersBarn My pleasure Jess. Goodnight love xx
Enjoyed your list, I miss-guessed quite a few but know you could add another 20 or more; minimum wage law, all permanent workers get paid (and usually) 4 weeks minimum holidays plus sick pay, NHS, new parents get extensive paid leave from work, the price ticket is the price everywhere by law, cheap flights to dozens of destinations to explore, temperate weather (or the endless rain) makes the countryside so green, waiting staff leave you in peace to enjoy meals with family and friends as long as you want, tap water is everywhere safe and drinkable, almost total lack of personal gun ownership, police are (generally) approachable, honest and trustworthy, foods and livestock are very strictly regulated, so very many sports and activities to take part in/enjoy, etc! Please don't get me wrong, I love foreign travel including the USA, and would do far more if only I could!
I definitely have more to add to another video. I appreciated your comment. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
So glad you appreciate tje countryside. Sure we have some wet weather but thats why Britain and Ireland is so beautiful. Its also why our meat is such good quality its all grass fed.
I completely agree, my friend. Thank you for your kindness and support. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
I love red bush tea which has a natural sweetness .
Lovely, I will look into that. Thank you for your recommendation. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
You could try some older tv series such as "The Thin Blue Line " with Rowan Atkinson or "The It Crowd " which i feel you may have seen of course the Blackadder series and finally Faulty Towers.
Wonderful, thank you for your lovely recommendations! Really appreciate your time, friend. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
@@DaydreamersBarn I enjoyed your politeness which is a dying human trait it would appear.
The last two words are very southern centric. But great post.
Thank you so much.I absolutely love sharing what I see and that I appreciate from a country that I have fallen in love with. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Love that you love the UK. I know you're an sceptic and all, but when you say sorted, you have to pronounce the t.......lol
I know 😃 like water - worder 😂😂
Otherwise it sounds like sordid.
Haha, I did, but my accent gets everyone all the time. Just like when my friend here says squirrel.. 😉 We all laugh.. cheers 🤍 Jess x
I think there's one thing you omitted on your list. Surely the 11th thing has to be Yorkshire pudding!
Well. Maybe I'm saving the best for an upcoming video. 🤔 cheers 🤍 Jess x
“Queue” is the French word for “tail”.
That seems to be the self-explanatory origin of the English word.
Interesting fact, thanks for that. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
MOT... nice to have some form of standard rather than having death traps around BUT once the MOT is failed even if you still have some time on the old one .., you cannot drive it of that garage's lot & if you are in a small garage with only has on street parking you will be directly illegal ... Often worth getting at pre MOT inspection so if think it will not pass you have some time to do something about it ...
That is a good point. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
Get up to Alton Towers, as a family you will love it.
Thank you for the wonderful recommendation! I appreciate your comment and time watching. Cheers 🤍 Jess x
Now there's something uniquely British which the rest of the world doesn't want called a 'Teasmade'.
It's an alarm clock with a built in kettle and tea pot. The alarm wakes you up and the kettle transfers boiling water into the tea pot. The idea is you wake up to freshly brewed tea. Got to remember to also have a mug, milk and sugar by your bed. I really couldn't be bothered. Apparently it's only in the UK that 'Teasmades' are bought. They don't sell in any other country (with the exception of possibly Ireland).
Now, that's an invention. You better hop on that, buddy! LoL
Appreciate your time watching.
Cheers 🤍 Jess x
The MOT, is not a "quality control test". That is a manufacturing standard. MOT is to certify that the vehicle is being driven in a roadworthy condition.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
Yeah Yorkshire tea is a good one I love it, we always have that in the cupboard. The only one I prefer to that is Twining Assam, its not a blend like most teas just pure from the Assam region in India.
Sounds like a good one to try. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
To add that an MOT CHECK is done to every vehicle 3 years and older. It's a road worthiness exam and costs approx £55 for a car..If it passes you receive a certificate valid for 12 months and is required to tax and insure the vehicle. It's still the driver's responsibility to ensure it remains roadworthy despite the exam/test.
Another note: £55 is the maximum that they can charge for an MOT on a car by law, so if a garage charges u more than that, they are breaking the law.
Great points, also we have found out if the vehicle is over 40 years the MOT is not needed either. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
Can i make a suggestion for a possible Part 2 (adults only) of this video?
#11 Excessive use of the C-bomb - It's hard for Americans to get their head around it but we not only use it as a term of disgust but as a term of endearment too. E.g. "He's a right cheeky C" (he's crafty/ a little scamp). it's all about context.
🙂
You most definitely can request! I really appreciate and am definitely looking at doing something along those lines. Appreciate your time! Cheers 🤍 Jess x
