This might be hard but how about a cut animation through a somewhat anatomically correct clay sculpture of your head played in reverse so it looks like your head is being 3D printed or teleported. If it looked a lot like you, maybe you could transition between the complete sculpture of your head to your real head before opening your eyes and introducing your new video's topic.
An animation going through thinly sliced apple or Christmas fruit cake would be interesting for a future video. Would recording in an extremely cold room help keep the subject in a more rigid shape as it gets cut? I read that the Visible Human Project froze the parts to get thinner slices without the cutting process distorting the subject. They had lots more time and budget for their project, though.
Recording the 3D printing of a model followed by a cutting animation through the same object could be interesting because the printer would be expected to generate the object in the reverse direction. Playing a top-down view of the 3D printing process synchronized with a reversed video of the cut should look interestingly similar.
I never tried to record this type of animation with a real camera but I made a couple little programs to make cut animations from volumetric 3D models purely in software. I visualized a fractal with a cut animation near the middle of "Exploring a 3D Julia Set Cloud". Since seeing the Visible Human Project, I always found cut animations to be a very interesting and effective way of visualizing volumetric 3D models. If the slices are very thin and precisely measured to consistent, it can be a great way to reconstruct the original shapes in the object.
I love all these ideas! Funny enough I have one planned similar to the replica of my face one you described. The fruit cake one would be super fun for around Christmas time! Animating in a cold room would give you cleaner slices but would make the act of slicing much more difficult since the medium would be hard. I’m sure the visible human project was using motorized sawblades, slicing by hand through a cold medium is difficult, depending on what it is of course. That 3D animation sounds awesome! I’d love to see it
The Stabbing and attacking with tools is cool, and the electric outcome is hypnotic. Fun. Great explanations, such a great service to anyone who is asking to learn this stuff - up, up and away Tay!
Thank you David :) It's meant to be an easy entry point for people to supplement your tutorials. I will be making a couple more advanced ones but will then direct people to yours to really learn the art
I don’t have any intentions on ever doing this but what I can say is that I was totally invested in the entire video start to finish. Great job Tay! This is so cool. Also loved the wizard voice during the stabby bit 😂
Bahaha thank you Sonia! And thank you for watching even though you’re not going to build one!
This is the way man.
Great tutorial! I'm helping my girlfriend with animating her student project and she decided that one of her scenes will be in strata cut, so your video is perfect for it! I can't wait for more advanced tutorials! :))
That’s great!!! So glad she found it helpful. If she posts her Stratacut, please tag me so I can see! And yes more advanced tutorials on the way 😁
You are the best Taymations!
Awww thank you Ma!
just found you, instantly engaged. this is so cool what the hell
Thank you so much for the support! If you build one of these loafs, please tag me!
So cool and direct, thank ou for sharing! What a beautiful art form to get to know.
It’s up to all of us to save it from fading into obscurity! Give it a try! Once you catch the Strata-Bug there’s no going back :)
Yeah! Great explanation-Popsicle Stick Gang Unite✊
Return of the Popsicle Peeps!
Maybe the clearest description you’ve done of this process yet. Great vid man
Thanks man, going for some evergreen content of the process. I’ll be slowly putting out some more advanced ones too
Thank you actually been wanting to know how to do these
This is a great one to start with because it’s easy to make and satisfying to animate. I’ll be making some more advanced ones soon that will do textures and shapes, keep an eye out!
BRB gonna try this! And I’ll make sure I get a timeloaf too
Dude if you upload it, make sure you tag me!!
thank you!!
Thank YOU for watching! If you make the loaf from this tutorial, please tag me if you post it!
Perfect video! And really useful tips! I have seen so many strata cut animations but I didn't think of moving the loaf closer to the camera after each slice - makes a lot of sense tho! Ok I will definitely give that a try! Thank you for the tips! And keep up the good work!
If you do, tag me!!
@@TaymationsYT will do! Thanks!
woooow its so cool and interesting! I'd like to know how do you make a specific drawing on these layers of clay?!
I will most definitely be doing a tutorial for more advanced loafs very soon. This is a good place to start to learn slicing and animating but I can’t wait to show some textures and shapes!
Great video 🎉
Thank you!
I feel like videos like these arnt getting enough recognition because of the youtube algorhythm
I appreciate that, it’s always a battle. It’s impossible to make quality videos in the short amount of time that the platforms want so I’m just trying to focus on making them good instead of making them fast.
What happened to the guillotine?
I actually sold it to a good friend that does Strata Cut. I’ll be building version 3 at some point and will document the entire process!
