The World of Horror dev continues to impress me. This felt like an expanded version of a mystery from that game, a test of what they can do with the format without sacrificing the experience they're making. I'm half-expecting World of Horror to get a mystery with similar gameplay to this now.
I wish this was a thing, too.
In general, I wish the World of Horror concept was expanded on more. I loved the game, but it has limited replayability because the mysteries are all very linear

Yeah monkeys don't know how to tone their muscles properly, so they aren't even at their peak performance yet. They could become even stronger and god know what they could do then
There's a famous event that happened where some woman owned a chimpanzee (smaller than many other apes, but they can be extremely aggressive). She gave him some Xanax before her friend came over and, IIRC, the chimp killed her friend that he knew well.
Why people want to keep apes other than humans in their house is beyond me.

I like how ending B answers a lot of questions you get from ending A. It seems Igor is the son, and it implies heavily that you are the trainer (or, the last character you play as is) with the ape crying “for his trainer” as you lay down for sacrifice. Very cool.

at least the story is pretty obvious so even i can understand it without much explanation. circus was a family kinda thing, he was the monkey trainer, his son was igor the terrible (appears seemingly out of nowhere), his wife was the fortune teller that was run over by a motor boat and the body was never found. he wanted to resurrect his wife through some kind of dark ritual and killed some random people to get their body parts with the help of his monkey and his son. only thing that doesn't make sense is why the monkey would chase and kill him too since he was the trainer. but that might just be an actual plot hole.
Maybe the monkey somehow didn't recognize its trainer or forgot how he looked...

Thats cool the dev is still active, hope they continue to work on World of Horror. The game felt like if you bought the carpenter hammer at the store pretty much guarantees an easy win most of the time. I absolutely love the art style and music. This person seems very talented.

Okay so I looked over all the notes and as much of the story I could glean from it to try and give a full Reconstructed backstory. Spoilers if you don't wanna see.
Basically at this Circus built in a soviet-era resort, a freak motorboating accident killed the monkey trainer's wife the fortune teller. Now this likely got the place shut down but it sounded like the resort circus.. whatever it is wasn't doing so well anyway. The trainer in 10 years either started a cult or the cult was already a part of the circus but whatever the case they used the cult to find a dark ritual to bring back the dead. (under the guise of resurrecting's the cult's lake god.) the monkey was listening to the man's orders and Igor is the man's son and they both killed the people in this story for the parts to craft a vessel for the wife to inhabit. why they couldn't just kill one person and use the whole body and needed a assorted amount of part's I don't know.
Some of this is speculation as the pieces we find in the game don't give us the whole story but that is roughly the gist of it. now weather that's actually the wife or some lovecraftian horror pretending to be the wife to get resurrected I don't know.
Also don't ask why I spent this much time on it. I just like having a complete story laid out to me or as complete as Junji Ito style games will give me.
This seriously reminds me of one of those short horror stories, about some mysterious blob thing that lives in a lake and devoured 4 people when they decided to break into a restricted area to spend their summer time.
Honestly, the gameplay and music highly remind me of the Clock Tower games for SNES and PS1.

Oh man, the visuals remind me of some c64 and Amstrad stuff. Back when horror games were scary because they still used some of your imagination, which was the most powerful fear mechanic of all.

Well, a lake is not a swamp but I am happy to see someone finally making a proper vidya gaem about the illusive Skunk Ape.
I'm not sure about the art for this one. The "overworld" graphics are a bit hard to figure out imo, which is particularly annoying when there's booby-traps. Most of the "zoomed in" art is on par with World of Horror, but I can't shake the feeling that all the characters' faces are off somehow. 🤔 Maybe that's deliberate?

Eh. YMMV, but personally I don't find everyone's chins being ridiculously long disquieting. It just looks ugly. (Amusingly, Igor appears to have escaped this "face stretching", making him the most human appearing member of the cast. 😂)
Yeah I don't really care for it either, I'm really having to strain to make everything out. I get what they're going for but personally it's just not visually pleasing or even interesting.

I had the most savage dream last night. Me and my partner were investigating a missing persons report. We went down to a lake and realized that the monster living in it had taken her. I remember saying this; ‘but the monster only takes pretty girls! So it doesn’t make sense?’ And then I realized, I WAS PRETTY. I had to get off that lake or it would try to take me. I ran along the bridge, which spanned the entire lake, I was about halfway but it took me. Weirdly wholesome right?
