Used something similar to fix a toilet in my home. The flange wasn't clocked properly to allow closet bolts to be properly installed and also keep the toilet square to the wall at the same time. The last guy used lag bolts to secure the toilet to the floor and busted the plastic flange in the process 😂 so I added a stainless steel flange repair ring in order to use proper closet bolts.
Why is everybody still using standard wax rings? I've had them fail in the past, and the risk of damaging property can be in the tens of thousands. I've been running with the silicon gaskets the past 5 years and not had a single problem.
Thanks -- do you need to slip the inside lip of the metal repair ring underneath the outside edge of the plastic hub (to support it from underneath) or does this simply go around it? I can't tell if the ring needs to support the pipe from below.
If this is galvanized steel, it's garbage. Just looked at one that looked like coffee grounds. I hope an Oatey engineer sees this, and know that I cursed you for 7 generations.
But why Them food grade kitchen gloves??? You are a plumber! You can afford some good gloves.. one drop of clear on your hand and that glove is melting into your skin!
Rock and Roll toilets are for the birds 😂
So true Britt! The worst!
“Pop off like me on the dance floor” had me weak 💀
Classic Fixit Guy great content and humor 😂 Thank you for helping us wknd warriors fix our own homes and entertaining us at the same time!
Thank you!
100 times out of 100 i would rather the johnny bolt snap off rather than the bolt just keep spinning with the nut. Great short vid
That is so true! Thank you.

It's about time someone does it right on here
Good to see the bolts with nuts on them at the bottom connection
It is the way!
My guy blocking the sewer gas for this job > my landlord letting ours recirculate in our living space for a year 🤢

What product are you using. I’m not apposed to something new it’s just what I know.
@ThatFixItGuy everyone isn't wrong
Ours rocks!! And it just started leaking, so i might have to do this
Yeah I bet there is a flange issue.
@@ThatFixItGuy after the repair... There isn't a flange issue??? I dunno what's wrong, but the leak is fixed and I'm sore all over!
Okay, but what if the part of the floor you screwed the new flange into has a hole in it...
Use some construction adhesive and glue a piece of wood underneath if possible.

There is a lip that it will go in if you are replacing a old metal flange.
@@ThatFixItGuy Thank you! After watching so many videos yours is the only one that addressed this!
Now who says plumbing is dirty work? 😊
😂 love the dirty work
Needed and my experience. The wood around the toilet plange is non. Existent or rotten and you can't screw it down
There will be a little work there then.
I was amazed that you folk use wax seals.... in Aus I've only ever seen reusable rubber seals. (Not a plumber though!)
It infuriates me that they include closet bolts but not screws for anchoring it to the floor
I get that. I’m assuming that is why the last person never secured the flange.
What kind of floor? That’s why.
There are so many variables that go into screw/anchor selection. T bolts are pretty standard
Wood floor, concrete, tile floor, how many type of screws would be appropriate? In your world?
Do you happen to have the longer version of this video online also? Thanks!
I will edit that up and get it out this weekend, I thought I had already put this out. Thank you.
New bolts wax ring shims call it a day
Picked up an oatey product the other day because I see all the YT plumbers using it
Won’t these rust out ??
Wanted to see the bolts.
Toilet bolts?

Bro says ku-nee-pex 😂
That's the right way to say it
@@suavemang no bro
They literally have a shirt that tells you how to say the name
@@NicktheDIYguy then the female reps got it wrong too lol
It’s a German company.. ku nee pex is how you pronounce it
With all due respect use a designated scraper for that wax ma man it killed me to see a flat head doing that job
That is what my big flat head is for. That and a chisel.
It's pronounced [kuh-nip-x] NOT [kuh-nee-pex]
I can’t believe I’m that guy, but it’s pronounced nip-ex
😂
Nope, its not. its kuh-nip-ex. & if you dont believe me there is literally a knipex shirt that says "its pronounced kuh-nip-ex" on the back.
