I first saw this video about 6 years ago, and I still think is the best tribute ever made.
"Woe to the vanquished" is usually what people will tell you. Or even "woe to the conquered". It remains on of my favorite Latin phrases, along with, "Inter arma enim silent leges", traditionally translated as, "In times of war, the law falls silent." Hope that helps!

Quick history lesson - "Vae Victus" was reportedly uttered by Brennus, the Celtic king who captured Rome early in it's history.
They agreed to leave for a ransom. As the gold was being weighed out, the Romans complained that the weights were unfairly balanced. Brennus threw his sword onto the scales and uttered "Vae Victis" (Woe to the Conquered).
This even transformed Rome int the super power it would become.
The Romans never forgot this lesson. It took them 50 years to recover.

huh interesting. I'll admit I never thought of it in that manner. You bring up an excellent point. There is great potential to ruin the story of LoK given that Amy Henning has moved on. Truth be told though, I would dearly love to see the storyline continued. So long as they dont do another BO2. Blech!

Well thats true in a way, but then again the major role of the Elder God is to guide and manipulate Raziel, which wouldnt matter. Obviously I understand that he was behind most of the ordeals in Nosgoth, but there could be a new threat of some kind. I faintly remember the ending being half-open for a sequel?

Well, they translated a bit loose in the game, but its suppose to mean "Woe to the vanquished" or also "Woe to the conquered".

actually if it were after defiance he wouldn't be lost in the vortex since that was in blood omen 2. check the timeline i'm pretty sure if it was continuing the timeline that was being set by defiance that probably shouldn't happen

I agree, they need to make a new one. It'd be great to see a next gen Legacy of Kain. And assuming its set after Defiance, I assume it would star Kain. Its a shame, because Soul Reaver was so much better than Blood Omen 2 (in my opinion), so I'd really like to see Kain get his own really good solo 3D title.

No it's vae victis.
Vae victis (IPA: [ˈwae̯ ˈwɪktiːs]) is Latin for "woe to the vanquished", or "woe to the conquered". It means that those defeated in battle are entirely at the mercy of their conquerors and should not expect-or request-leniency.
The voice actor for Kain just has a rather thick Sussex accent so it sounds like victus when he says it.

I do love the game, as well as the rest of the series... but it is sad that they had to rip its very opening from Aleister Crowley's Book f the Law... such a masterful series should not derive from a BS piece of crap work as that.
