    A great discussion on zazen. You hit the nail on the head. Just do nothing and the muddy water clears itself. The truth being so simple we just cannot keep quiet. We have to do something always. We just have to get something from every activity that we do in life. We have to interfere in everything. That is the human condition. Just doing nothing is not easy after all.

    I feel enlightened by your profound teaching of zazen it really resignates deeply . I got it. Now I let go and simply be .. be one with nature . Let go of self , even of being master of our mind . Just sit just be . Thank you for this incredibly blessed vidio

    From a week of exactly this kind of self imposed mediation lock-up…. ! : )
    I’m a Theravadin who is becoming very interested in Zazen. Although familiar with early Buddhist philosophy this was an excellent and logical introduction to Zazen (of which I know little). Thank you! 🙏🏻

    Great vid. Definitely one of the best introductions to zazen. Explained clearly with a good narration. And I like the analogy of the mind being like a monkey on steroids. That is perfect. People seem to think a goal of meditation is to still the mind, whereas anyone who has meditated knows you cannot still the mind, but rarher, you give it space to still by itself. I like the analogy of trying to clear a muddy glass of water. No action we take will clear the water, only by leaving it alone do we allow the water ito settle itself. Anyway, I'm rambling now, sorry. Just wanted to say.great video, keep up the quality content. Cheers, Gassho, Namaste, Om Shanti , blessings and have a great day.

    Thank you for explaining so clearly what Zazen is. I’ve been practicing meditation for nearly a year and I’ve gone all the way from metta to doing nothing. It’s helped me a lot in my daily life and I hope to get deeper into it progressively. It’s hard sometimes when you need to let things go, but I’m finally overcoming aversion to some thoughts. The key is to accept them without doing nothing. Thanks so much again, master!❤

      We don’t need anything other than awareness but awareness is who we are already so we don’t need to search for it.
      But our thoughts will tell us that we need to do and search because we, as our self-made image is never good enough.

    • @profundus9306
      @profundus9306  Před 2 lety +3

      Great that you could see the resemblance with Ramana's teachings. The truth is ultimately the same and all paths converge at the end. Ramana once said, "Your effort is your bondage" which is basically identical to zazen where the intention is to drop all effort. Will be creating more videos in the future, you won't find much in the videos prior to this unfortunately. 🙏

    • @jallen911
      @jallen911 Před rokem

      Ramana also says to just “Be quite”. Seems to be congruent with Zen

    • @k14michael
      @k14michael Před 10 měsíci

      Ramana deepest teaching is just “silence”. If people didn’t get this then he open his eyes and tell them to ask themselves “who am I” that cannot sit in silence? So yes. It basically the same teaching as Zen. at a deeper level, truth is truth no matter where you are at! 😊
      By the way zen teaching also utilize koan practice for those who mind cannot sit in silence and need something to focus on. 😊

    I am curious for your reasons for recommending eyes closed during sit? As I am sure you know "open eyes limit the mind from creating mental images and other distracting activity." and open eyes is the traditional recommendation in Tibetan and most Zen practices.

    • @profundus9306
      @profundus9306  Před 2 lety +1

      The purpose of zazen is to dissolve the sense of doership, (the sense of I, me). Open eyed zazen (partially opened) is useful for alertness, especially at the beginning, but is not an absolutely necessary condition for the practice. Whatever works best for you, go for that. What is absolutely important is to sit with an attitude of surrender.

    Gret video. But sitting with the idea that Zen is about enlightenment contradicts the very purpose of doing nothing. The best thing for a person to reach enlightenment is not even thinking about it while sitting, because desire of enlightenment is still a desire and probably the most dangerous one
