Thanks for the video very helpful. This use to be a lot simpler on older vehicles. Did you perform the battery reset procedure after installing the replacement battery? I think it goes something like this 1. Switch on ignition (do not start engine) 2. Switch on dipped beam 3. Press 5x the rear fog light button (do not switch 5x on and off the rear fog light) 4. Press 3x hazard lights button (do not switch 3x on and off hazard lights) 5. Then the battery symbol in the speedometer should flash 3x quickly.

Reste plus que la réanitialisation de la batterie à faire, super simple pour mon modèle de 2019 en d2 adblue signature edition (si jamais ça peut aider quelqu'un) j'ai fait comme ça : J'ai redémarrer la voiture après avoir suivie ce tuto. Puis j'ai mis la molette en position feu de croisement et ensuite appuyer 5x doucement sur le bouton du feux antibrouillard arrière et 3x pareil doucement sur le bouton des warnings... Et voilà fini. Le voyant batterie clignote 3x rapidement (soyez attentif 😅) Encore mille merci pour ce tuto c'était super. Un gros pouce en l'air de la France 👍

Just a quick tip for anyone doing this for the first time, watch your back bending over carrying the batteries. They are thumping heavy!

Brilliant video. The steps are clearly shown which makes it easy to follow. One thing on mine was that the old (original) battery was smaller and there was a spacer in the battery tray which had to be removed. V40 CC D4 2015
My AGM battery is 7 and 1/2 yrs old so guess I should look at changing it and this video gives me confidence to diy. Does new battery need to be coded to car or do you have to keep a trickle charger connected so ECU doesn’t lose memory? Cheers for a great video

Yes, but read the instructions for your vehicle, the negative usually has a specific point on on the car to attach it to. If you connect the negative straight to the battery you may damage the cars electronic systems.

Thanks for the video. The real question is why did they make it so ‘hard’ to replace a battery. I really hate these kind of designs
To reduce the size of the engine bay. It makes for a compact engine but it´s hell to work with.

Thanks for the instructions. Normally replacing the battery on a Volvo is a 2 min job. But not on the V40.

Mine was a 96 AGM Stop Start, but it might depend on the model, enter your car Reg into a car parts supplier to check yours
