The reason I'm asking: I want students to pick another student of the same class. If that query cannot do it, I'd get the choices from Graph via PowerAutomate, but it would be cool to be filter directly in the card.

I am afraid this is not possible, to use regular odata query. You should prepare the list in advance.
Do you see a way to deliver adaptive cards in other places than Teams chat/channel such as Tasks, Assignments or Emails and update them?
When speaking about sending them via cloud flows, the only places it can be handled is Teams and Outlook.
Is there any documentation on the Data.Query? I'd love to filter by AzureAD group.
