Konrad Lorenz - Science of Animal Behavior (1975)

- Examines the work of behaviorist, Konrad Lorenz, who holds that behavior is determined by a basic genetic blueprint that is modified by experience and innate knowledge. Imprinting and a study of rank and social order are also examined by various observations of various types of animal.
The year was 1967 when I attended the 5th high school in Thessaloniki and had Professor Angelakis in psychology, a man from my hometown of Galatista. The same year, the colonels carried out a coup d'état and usurped power in Greece by overthrowing the democratically elected regime of George Papandreou senior. Professor Angelakis introduced us to Konrad Lorenz's famous experiments with the imprinting behavior of newly hatched geese. It was so fascinating to hear about Konrad's experiment back then, but it was impossible to watch it in a movie version in the late 60's. The Internet, on the other hand, has made it possible to pick up old films from the archives and let us enjoy the past!
I found this video that helped me recall an early chapter of my youth!
The Internet, HIYA YOU
on the other hand, has made it possible to pick up old films from the archives and let us enjoy the past! I found this video that helped me recall an early chapter of my youth! T was similar HERE, I remeber reading Martina, die Gans by Lorentz at 13, and I was FASCINATED
Now that I m old and gnarly, I prefer animals to ppl, I find themmore interesting, as it happens

I'm rereading On Aggression right now, after over thirty years. It seems even more relevant now. Amazing work, Konrad!
I'm reading it right now for the first time. Any other titles you would reccomend me like that one?
Researching for class now his theory on aggression. The geese made me all warm and fuzzy

How comes Lorenz managed to do such experiments without traumatising animals like Harlow
They were trying to find out different things
He was determined and wanted to try something different. He wanted to understand the natural behavior of animals without depriving them of their freedom or subjecting them to experimentally imposed conditions. His study was a great basis to understand the behavior of higher animals, especially humans. It takes a lot of time, devotion and consistency to study animals in their natural habitat, but Konrad Lorenz however, made it look easy and beautiful.
Because he was nationalsocialist.
You have to read his Books ans to listen the youtube film from him and about him .and his loving nature for trying to give yourself an answer.not to start with traumatizing a shock word.i wish you all the best
this is adorable omg
More emotional than the movie Fly Away Home (1996) to be honest
lol. you're right
Very nice demonstration sir
Fascinating
Fascinating! ❤
Nature and animals are so perfect that any human intervention in the behavior of the animal leads to unfreedom and disturbance.
There’s nothing about nature that is perfect. Nature is violent and competitive. The fact that you are able to sit back, and romanticize nature is due to the fact that as a human race we were able to escape nature and wildlife, manipulating our environment, developing technology, working in groups, and thereby building societies.
Nature isn't 'perfect' because it's everchanging. We just see a snapshot of it during our lifetime.
Man like Konrad, my Don 👀
Nice , cute and relevant, lovely experiment.
Fascinating.
The interviewer looks like Leslie Nielsen :D
Indeed it is.
Rest in Peace
I hope these geese are happy wherever they are
Talking about the freedom o birds, are birds free from their behavioral patterns?
beautiful :`)
Çok ilginçti bravo
"pretty young blonde names christine" haha
Hahahha😂 I also laughed at that part
wow
❤❤
Makes me a bit sad this experiment.
dont look up harry harlows experiments then lol
Zis clip:z duck only know lorenz
Me:Wt about z cameraman...
How did his granddaughter, Taylor, turn out so nasty. Poor socialisation?
Wondering what kind of bond is established between them. Seemingly they follow their fostering humans Even in their adulthood! In nature, this would not happen. They would become independent, right? Is it up to the behavior by the parents?
Those "adult" geese are actually still young, if you mean the ones following the girls later in the video. It takes several months to become full adults, and they would ultimately become independent - they would however return year after year to the place Lorenz or the girls raised them, as geese raised by their goose parents would return to area they were born. You should read Lorenz's books, he explains his work in great detail.
