THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR INCLUDING BATTERY TESTS HOLY SHIT
I really don't get why other youtubers who reviews handheld PCs like this don't include battery tests in their video. They are HANDHELD and we want to play unplugged and anywhere and we want to know how long its battery lasts goddammit.
I ordered mine more than a month ago. the form factor is just perfect for me. I wanted something that could fit in my sling bag and use on a plane since I travel a lot. The fact that you put your own money on this device also gives me confidence in my decision since I made it sight unseen.
ONLY THE PRICE OF TWO STEAMDECKS INSTEAD OF 3 OR 4 GPD IS GETTING BETTER WITH PRICING ATLEAST ID STILL JUST BUY 2 STEAMDECKS ANYWAY
@@allhandsonsteamdeck1440 i like the steam deck, currently playing guilty gear right now on it.
Its too big. Great for at home but not good for travel.
@@allhandsonsteamdeck1440 OK AND MAYBE WITH THE LEFTOVER MONEY YOU CAN FIX YOUR CAPS LOCK SO WE DON'T ALL HATE YOU FOR BEING SO OBNOXIOUS

The Phawx is a swell guy! Good to see the PC handheld space really collaborate! And there should be more of that more often!
I could feel his excitement while reviewing the last GPD Win Max 2. He was as happy as the Nintendo 64 kid
As someone who doesn't own a modern game console, PC/laptop, & has wanted a GPD device since the OG XD, _I WANT THIS SO BAAAAD!!_
I plan to use this device at 720p w/ low graphics ALL the time for PC games. So thanks for the battery section gives me an idea of what to expect.
Dude I was just thinking about the same thing
Love to see the collaboration between my favorites youtubers! Way to go guys!
agreed
Just a note: It's my understanding that the ryzen 7040 series (Phoenix APUs, meant to occupy the same types of products as the 6600U, and 6800U) were designed to be drop-in compatible with 6000 series mainboards...Meaning that depending on exactly how any 6800U handhelds were implemented, we may see 7840 variants of them in a short-ish timeframe (the earliest ones may be available around August if I had to guess), and they should have around a 30% performance improvement at higher (for a handheld) TDP rating of around 28 watts, and I'm hoping that ratio holds at lower TDPs as well, though at 12-15 watts I think they may start performing similarly, much as the Steamdeck / Win4 operate similarly around 8 watts IIRC, though this part is speculation.
amazing prediction good comment
As always, glad to watch and find a hidden gem-EmuDeck support for Windows. While I’ve long evangelized for Retrobat, I’ll be keeping an eye out for the EmuDeck Windows support coming out of beta. SteamOS interface + EmuDeck Windows support is game-changing for game rig setups in the living room as well as the growing Windows handheld market. Great work, as always!
Very kind of ThePhawx and as usual, it was a very insightful review. Thanks for the video, can't wait to have mine!
Your FREE unit am I rite?!
@@Drivenby Seeing as I have other plans for the one I bought 😏, yes yes very much!
Absolutley excellent review. Very informative and you covered a lot of important aspects like the size comparison and how the device can be used as a PC not just a gaming device. Have been waiting for a review like this for a while on this device. This has been the best review I've seen on this by far. Thanks a lot!
Pre-ordered mine yesterday. Clearly no regrets after watching your video. Thank you!
Thank you sir for demonstrating the speakers when your hands are over them. This was something no other reviewer has mentioned. I also like how you keep your detailed info easy to understand but concise enough to someone that knows very little about TDP, software-tweaking and the like. The Phawx is amazing when doing his charts but at times I get lost in terms of all those graphs and charts. As much as I'd like a smaller device to tote around, I still love my Steam Deck's comfort and better audio placement. Cheers!
its soo funny i ended up with steam deck and a miyoo mini...
It's a bit of an extreme portability vs "transportable" :)
One more thing that wasn't mentioned in this video; the display has a native landscape orientation, which means it can handle some older games better. There are some games, like RDR2, FFVII Crisis Core (PC), etc, that will often open up in a small window on other handhelds because of the portrait screen orientation on other handhelds. That problem basically doesn't exist on this handheld.
well I don’t have this problem with the deck tho, so yeah basically a non-issue.
@@user-yk1cw8im4h It's not a problem on the Deck because Valve explicitly solved the problem on SteamOS with gamescope. gamescope creates a "fake monitor" with the correct orientation, and wraps the game with that fake monitor.
Great point, and I do mention the landscape orientation briefly in the video. Another benefit is that it scales and orients correctly right out of the box with Batocera without the need to mess with any scripts or settings.
@@user-yk1cw8im4h nah this is a issue especially on other windows handhelds. Valve just solves it through their software with game scope.
like playing older games like red alert 2 or battle realms, this unit has more compatibility.
I have been very attracted to the idea of such a portable PC since the release of Steam Deck and waiting for a console that will hook me with design and real portability. And finally, what I need appeared on the market. Windows, compactness, keyboard, PSP DESIGN, top chipset, good battery, good screen. Ordered it impulsively a month ago and looks like it wasn't a mistake, which makes me very happy :D
I sadly couldn't afford to order a win4 but I was able to upgrade to a fold 4 and got a telescopic controller and with cloud gaming it does surprisingly well. I doubt it compares to the performance of the win4 but thankfull I can play the games I'm interested in
Where did you order it from?

This is the review I've been waiting for. Prop to Phawx to lend you his review unit. Its a shame GPD didnt provide you the review unit when you are one of the best, if not the best reviewer out there for handheld devices.
I was waiting for your review before placing the order but i finally placed it few days ago as i dont want to miss the IGG price. Seeing you placed your order as well gave me comfort knowing that this got your seal of approval.
Retro Game Corps is top-tier, but I do think the Phax is probably the best reviewer right now, though I hold Taki Udon and ETA Prime in high regard too. Out of all of them, Taki and RGC limit themselves pretty hard to just handhelds which limits the frequency of their videos, so I think that also hurts them a bit too.
I do enjoy how the Phawx has more editorial-like conversation videos, how-tos, and explores side emulation/small tech devices in between major handheld releases.
Thanks for the first look this is probably my 4th first look😂 I’m happy that emudeck is doing something for windows. The ease of use is what I need for my emulator setup. I will definitely become a patron to support such a good product.
I WAS SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO POST THIS 😃 Thrilled about 2023’s handheld PCs. Thank you for sharing your opinions!
Glad to see your conclusion on this as I put my order in a few days ago. It’s the first device I’ve ever backed on Indiegogo, so I was a bit hesitant. Definitely excited to get one.
Same here, I was surprised by his conclusion. I placed my order a few minutes before watching this video.
Besides gaming, I'll be using it as my main work computer, so I opted for the 1TB/32GB version and will dock with my Nexdock 360 when on the move and 32" Monitor/ 2nd monitor (my Nexdock) at home with keyboard and mouse.
I'm definitely excited as well. Glad Linus from LTT gave GDP a good track record with delivering while still in Kickstarter mode.
Thanks for this awesome review! Can't wait for mine to ship.
Made the jump. Now I'm just looking forward to your set up guide!
Same here. Hacking my PSP with that weird hacking battery thing was such a weird process but I got it running and was playing all my favorite CPS2 fighting games on the go back in the day. All my friends were so shocked that i was playing X-Men vs Street Fighter on my PSP lol. That was such a fun memory that you brought back for me! love your content.
All the reviews of this are just making me so happy to have preordered this last month. Seems like a really great device :) :)
How do you like it so far?
@@juniorelizondo4144 Its okay, but I am honestly disappointed in the company for releasing an updated version with the 7840U and no upgrade option just a couple months after I received it. I used it for a couple months but it kind of ruined the device for me and I got an Ayaneo 2S instead now. Maybe not going to ever purchase from GPD again.
Amazing vid Russ. I'm so excited for this one, got an order in really early. PSP/Vita nostalgia on max. Love the size, too.
Excellent video as always bro. I already ordered mine and after watching your video I want it even more
My primary reasons for choosing the Win 4 over other devices were GPD’s long-running experience in the portable gaming pc market (they basically invented it) and the small form factor. Also, I actually like the analog stick caps, but then again, I have small hands.
I don't consider a device "reviewed" until Russ gets his hands on it. Great review! So excited to get mine.
I've quickly found out that out of all of the reviewers that review these handheld PC's, you've probably got to be my favorite. You hit on all of the points that I care about and your videos are nice and long. Thanks!
Thanks for the review! I actually already backed the Indiegogo, but I was kind of thinking about pulling out. With what you said at the end, though, I definitely feel more confident about it!
You SOB, I'm in. I was waiting on your review before I decided if I needed the VitaDeck. As it turns out, I do. I do need the VitaDeck.
Nice review ☺ I pre-ordered mine a month ago.
Ordered mine just yesterday!! It checks all the boxes for me, and I can't wait until the end of March!!
How do you know its the end of march? I thought the est shipping was just stated as march 2023?
@The scouserz I thought I read on the indiegogo page that end of March was the estimated date.
Are you still liking it?
@derosam69 Big time. I've gotten a ton of play time out of mine and it still works great!
@@BullShifter does it play all of the triple A games fine? Have more performance than the ally and is the battery life good? I’m considering purchasing one.
You sold me on this - hope my unit comes in time for my birthday in April! I'm going to make MUSIC on it
Amazing review! Thank you!
Wow! What a machine!
I was considering for a long time a Steam Deck ( I have way too many games on Steam that fit better with a controller than Keyboard) however it was always way too big for me to easily consider carrying around. This seems to hit the sweetspot. Power, good battery (for a portable gaming PC) and acsess to my Steam library (and emulation) on the go in something that will leave room for other things in my travel bag. :) Money be damned, I'm getting this thing!
(Edit: 9 months after making this comment i FINALLY found a good one with 32gb for under $800 on Ebay! At LAST!!)
How are you liking it
How is it, are you liking it?
Great review. I already purchased the GPD Win Max 2 since I wanted the big boy form factor. That being said, I do look forward to the next generation devices with the 7000 series AMD APUs.
Same here
Ditto! And I don't regret it. I can't go back to Windows portables as small as the Win 4. Awesome device though.
the fact that this was released 4~5 months ago and the Ryzen 7840U only just launched in May (about a month ago) goes to show how increasingly fast APU manufacturing has become. I know GPD "re-released" their Win Max 2 with the new 7840U, im not surprised that a new revision of the Win4, or possibly the Win5, will be revealed in the coming months.
Out of all the PC Handhelds releasing from many different brands, GPD is always tops it for me with their extra bells and whistles that outshine other handhelds.
Man, if I could go back in time and show this device to me as a kid, my kid brain would EXPLODE, seriously, this tech is beyond INCREDIBLE, you could literally play ANY GAME ever MADE on it, and I don't think that is hyperbole, this thing is a BEAST!!!....
Dude, same. I'd be the happiest person on earth.
The PSP jailbreak with the service battery trick was such a cool thing. I don't think that was until a while after launch, though and I can't figure out how I did it before service batteries.
One comparison I have not seen - It really seems like they drew a lot of ideas from the OQO series of UMPCs.
Channel quality has gone up a TON recently. The size comparisons, the information presentation is just all really great. Just all really great to see. Great stuff man.
The first PSP homebrew method involved having 2 memory cards and the homebrew had 2 folders. One normal and one with a similar name but with _______ at the end making the text too long and bypassing some security check. We had to swap the card during the splash screen. Then hackers figured out how to do the exploit from a single memory stick. After that came save game exploits. GTA Liberty City Story famously had it. You would load the game and load a particular save file and it started an homebrew launcher. The Pandora battery came after that and that's when everything really got wild on the PSP. It was the start of custom firmwares and being able to start anything straight from the menu. Even PSP iso loaded on the memory stick. There really wasn't much Sony could do at that point to stop it. New firmwares were decrypted in hours and new security keys could just be added to custom firmwares.
@@chamoo232 I mostly remember it starting with Pandora's battery and it was indeed pretty crazy. It was a cat & mouse game between Sony and Fanjita, Dark Alex, and others would continue to crack new firmware.
@@ccricers By the end we didn't even need any special batteries or be below certain firmwares to install a custom firmware. They were able to sign security codes into homebrews and make them run like official stuff.
Thank you for your review, I ordered the 16G+1T black version
Awesome review. Very detailed.
Uuugghhhh 😩 GPD WIN 4 looks soooo GOOD I’m melting 🫠
EmuDeck on Windows is a game changer! Fantastic vid, need to pick up a Win 4 😛 - Stubbs
Great review! Thanks!
Awesome video! I just wish you did some 60fps battery test, other than that, all perfectly done as usual
Think you sold me on this. Was planning on finally getting a handheld in the Spring, but if I wait for this then I'll have to spend more post-Indiegogo. The keyboard and size are personally a big selling point over the Ayaneo 2. And for me the screen/specs are worth the additional investment over a Steam Deck
My problem is depreciation. The Win 3 is now $500 used. It's about a year or so old.
@@leelee7334 I don't resell stuff often. And the specs of the Win 4 are like perfect for what I want to use it for so I don't see myself needing to upgrade any time soon. But that's just for me obviously
Great review! I do like the Steam Deck and if I didn't already have one, I actually would have considered purchasing this device. It is a bit more expensive, so it definitely is more of an investment. All in all, this seems to be one impressive device!
Same, in a way. I just trust the steam deck support more. I know if it goes wrong....I'll be ok. With this amazing device...I aint so sure.
@@pin00ch That's actually a good point! The support for the Steam Deck is excellent! And if you're going to pay that premium price, you want to know you'll be getting good support.
bit? it costs 2 steam deck lmao. not to mention the tax
@Buzás András no they are not, but some hold their resale value better. The chances that the steam deck will hold its value are higher than with this device. Same with nintendo switch, those things still fetch good money on the used market.
Can’t believe ThePhawx still doesn’t have 100k subscribers. I’ve been watching his video since the GPD Win 1 and 2, back when devices like these were nothing but wishful thinking.
I even had the Razer Edge Pro for a bit, but got rid of it because I could never find the controller attachment.
WIn 4 review AND a Pedro the lion shirt, great video Russ
Love the horizon chase turbo attention! My kids and I love that game. Great review, haven’t skipped a second and I’m half way. Wait until my latest app comes out, I think that might get some attention on the software section!
Thank you, this is really the in depth review I was looking for. I do wish you had shown it by a regular Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED, not just a Switch Lite. The other device side-by-sides were very helpful. Cheers!
Hi Russ! Delightful as always.
I also brought the psp day one. I also put emulation but neo geo and cps2 were my favs all the king of fighters and the Marvel vs Capcom series. I went thru a lot of analog sticks. Now I watch your videos before I purchase handhelds. Steam Deck was a great purchase. Thank you for the videos.
YES! YES! YES!!!
Haven't even watched yet. So excited!!!
i was just about to ask if you were gonna make a review :D i preordered one of these yesterday. lookin forward to using a 6800u device
This is the right idea, just an iteration or two from perfection.
I would like the ABXY to also be RGB so you could change it from a Xbox to Nintendo to Dreamcast arrangement by the colors changing
That's a great idea tbh, I never thought of that
My main concern with this device is the screen. Is text on it easy to read or do I have to sit 15cm from it to read ingame text? I loved my PSP and I was waiting for your review. Also very excited to see that Emudeck is coming to Windows.
I love the keyboard integration, one thing about my Steam Deck is I hate giving it the finger prints to touch the virtual keyboard and sometimes I forget my Bluetooth keyboard when I travel so having it inside the system is my efficient ergonomics. If it were a little bigger I would totally invest in it.
sammee
OMG Just get a non-glare screen protector, problem solved 🙄
Finally, the review I have been waiting for. Bro, I did the same thing with my psp! It stayed bricked until the pandora battery developed.
41:48 I am really glad you mentioned that anything over 200-300 dollars is an investment. Like for me, yes I like spending the lowest amount I can, it's not so much I am cheap I just don't have a high budget and a lot of my needs don't require more than that. I do feel re-assured that you feel like the GPD is worth that high end price tag. I unfortunately just have to wait. I spent like 430 bucks for the Steam Deck and that is honestly my whole budget but it's been worth every penny. I wish I could spend the money for a device like this but I really can't. I can't spend 800 bucks for something like this. If they came down to the console budget in the 400-500 dollar range only then could I make a jump for something like this plus I already have so many devices that I really can't be having that many electronics. If I could sell all those handhelds I got to trade in for one of these to drop the price some and then spend the like 400-500 then it wouldn't be so bad.
Hey Russ! Another great video. The reason I love my Steam Deck so much is the ergonomics. I mainly use it for retro and indie PC gaming, not a lot of console gaming. I almost exclusively run Windows off an SD card. I only go into SteamOS/Linux for games that require the TDP, framerate, etc to be modified. The touchpad is my primary input since I mostly play games with a MnK interface and I will never buy another handheld that doesn't have one. Strategy games, RPGs and colony sims are my jam. I even played through Starcraft on it and had a blast. Is there any way you could add a bit of content to your reviews about how well the touchpads work and feel in-game on devices that have them?
i may be mistaken but I don't think Russ plays a lot of primarily mouse based games, it's a specific set of games :)
GPD has come a very long way. I'm still real happy with my Steam Deck but seeing all these handhelds I'm just so excited to see where this all goes.
It reminds me so much of the Sony Mylo 2 I had as a kid this is awesome!
One important topic for reviewing in the future (please, because your my favorite reviewer) try to get the noise of clicking the dpad, the buttons as well as the snap of the analog sticks. For my use case, is sat on the couch near my girlfriend and she get annoyed about the Retroid pocket 3+ click noise of the buttons and the dpad.
Your lights in the back are tripping me out everytime it jump-cuts!! 😵
But great extra info overview, as Ive watched so many to see if I want to pull the trigger. From your other video on the state of handhelds early 2023, I am exactly like you in wanting a smaller form factor, and having a windows os in the system is almost mandatory for ease of use.
I actually have an old gpd clamshell one (cant remember the name) that I got in 2018 and I also bought the Ayn Odin, (and used your videos/website to set it up, thanks again!) So the GPD Win 4 is looking amazing as an all in one device upgrade wise.
The only thing that's holding me back is GPD's non friendly history on customer service issues if the console breaks or doesnt work on arrival.
Does that not worry you on dropping $800+ on a device when the company has a touchy customer service history? Might be even worse for me cause I want the 2tb 32gb version, and it's over $1k. :(
Not gonna lie, I was on the fence. Ordered one because of this review(and others but this was the final straw). I loved slide out full keyboard cellphones. LOVED THEM. And I love my vita. I never had a PSP and didnt realize just how much this does look like one. It was honestly a thought that I should order it now and get one before A: the price goes up and B: Sony forces a design change
Had i not gotten a steam deck, i would definitely want one of these. I always loved the vita and i still own it to this day.
Super professional review! I‘m following this device about a month and watched literally every single review of it on youtube. I would have ordered it anyway but when a youtuber buys such a gadget it means a lot. besides windows I want it to use with Batocera and I‘m wondering how I can I set the TDP there? in the BIOS? I saw another video but I‘m wondering what the power level 1 and 2 means? and can I set the display refresh rate set in batocera too? cheers
Other than gaming would love to put DAW on this for music production and record , hey retro do you these work with usb hubs so that I could connect a midi controller or audio interface to this ?
I still play my cfw PSP for ps1 and gba games. It being so light with amazing battery life is hard to not turn too even with a steam deck handy. If I didn't already have a steam deck I would be 100% buying one of these. Still hasn't stopped me from strongly considering to buy one.... That psp styling though.
Awwwwwwe yeah!!! Now THIS x86 device is what I'm interested in! I just wish they gave us lower spec processors to save a few bucks, like that I3 that's going to be on the Loki, it'll be great for battery life.
I like that you went down the road of relative performance as for me thats a bit part of gaming on the move.
Great video as always. I just wanted to make sure, the Thumbstick caps you used were ones for the switch right? I'm seeing a couple of ones for different devices.
Yes, for the switch. I have a direct link to them in my video description!
@@RetroGameCorps legend, cheers 🍻
Cause I needed one more reason to know you have exceptional taste! (love the Pedro the Lion shirt) Great review it looks incredible. Would love to dive into the X86 handheld market but it's just so hard to part with roughly $1000 for PC gaming. The deck is still an exceptional option, but it's tough to justify especially when there are so many great cheap handhelds and I already have a desktop PC, alas it's not portable buuuuuut the handhelds are so very portable. What a time to be a handheld enthusiast, it's really an embarrasment of options and just when it seemed more and more like Ninetendo was going to be the only one still in the portable game space. Arghhh! :(
My sole issue with the steam deck is the bumper buttons. It's very uncomfortable for me to hit the l1 or r1 buttons but I've been in the market for something possibly pocketable anyways so this looks amazing to me
I also find their position awkwardly far forward but my favorite thing about the Steam Deck is how incredibly powerful the control customization is. The only thing I can't always work around with Steam Input is the dpad. I really need to look into a mod for that thing, it's so mushy and stiff with some pretty unpleasant diagonals.
You must wear some extremely big ass pants if you can fit this in your pocket
@@hikerclarence7092 it's pocketable in the sense of moving it to another location lol but honestly it might fit in my work uniform
@@David-ln8qh same. the dpad sucks hard. But i love the on the fly customization. Do you think its also possible if we install steamOS on gpd?
yeah I remapped l1 and r1 on the back : )
This has definitely been for me the only handheld other than the steam deck that looks pretty damn compelling. Personally though I will probably wait for the Win 5 or Win 6 for there to be a big enough upgrade over the steam deck to actually be worth the price.
keep in mind a new GPD Win is released every 3 years or so. So you'll be waiting a long time, and technology will have advanced by then anyway. So relatively speaking, you'll be in the same situation 3 years from now.
@Pixel Puppy only 2 years between win 3 and 4 probably 2 years till win 5, that will probably be just about the perfect time to upgrade from steam deck.
better buy it off aliexpress once they sell it here. sure it will be higher but you can negotiate the declared value. They will usually cut it to $100 or smth and youll pay waaay less tax. In the end $800+tax will be more expensive than $1000+underdeclared tax
@@johnsducks9816 and by then valve will release better steam deck too
@@Bos_Meong I'm not sure Valve will release a new Deck anytime soon. They said they don't have plans for that. They sell incredibly well and are just powerful enough to run about anything on it. But 2-3 years is a long time so maybe they will by then. I'm just not expecting a Deck Pro in 6 months.
Really love GPD's stuff recently, they had a humble start but are at the top of the game now! Watching this on my GPD Pocket 2 :)
Absolutely love the flow of these handheld PCs that are coming out! This ensures that if Nintendo messes up and not bring us a next gen Switch that is on par or better than these; we will at least have these options. IF they know what is best; they will deliver, but again if they don't, then I will pick up one of these instead and not look back.
Nintendo has actually increased production on the Switch which is craaaazy and not a good sign for an ugrade soon. The Tegra was 5 years old 7 years ago if I'm not mistaken; it needs to be upgraded. Idk why Nintendo are so stubborn.
Bro even if they make a new switch it will not be as powerful as these....every time they make somthing new it is way behind on performance from day one
@Sam Goff True. But at least it will be cheaper. One can only hope it is as good as theses.
Nintendo isn't going to make a $1000 console, that would be a terrible business move
@@jakeaaronandtheboys i want to see them take this chip and replace it with an equivalent more power efficient one so we can get a switch micro or something pocket friendly
As much as I like the steamdeck.. this is truly a handheld PC... and I LOVED my PSP as a kid.
mines coming hopefully soon and i was there too jailbreaking and romming up my psp. that was the best handheld system
How did you map the back left trigger to select? Also I can’t get Select+Up to bring TDP up, how did you get that to work as well?
I’ve tried setting hot keys on the motion assistant app but it wont let me assign anything. Kinda stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I see this Review in the Aya Neo 2.
Nostalgia is hit Strong with this device, look awesome.
I'm still always a bit surprised during those comparison with the deck. You don't mention the trackpads or even the capacitive joysticks. The use of the gyro without the capacitive function is kind of meh (you have to bind gyro activation to an input, it's less natural and well, use an input...) My guess is you're not using it.
Also yes on steam os there are a few games you can't play. But, thanks to those trackpads, on the deck you can play PC classics, old point'n clic, games like Pharaoh or old (and not so old) CRPG, Baldur's gate, Pillars of eternity etc...
If you're playing only gamepad compatible games yeah sure, the Win4 is great (and do look gorgeous). But the deck offer something very different imo. I'll stop there, i'll start to sound like a deck fan.
Maybe on last point, GPD... Yeah well... They have to get back a reputation now that we have Valve and Aya on the market i feel, both feels way more... I d say trustworthy. :)
This is a review of the device not a comparison. Many other steam deck users, myself included, don't use the gyro or touch pads at all. Mind you there's a mini pointer on the bottom right of the device as well as a switch for mouse mode, allowing you to play point and click games just fine. Did you watch the full review? You're obviously a steam deck fan lol
The mouse mode on the Win 4 essentially lets you map the inputs of the controller to various keyboard keys for older games. Though those Deck trackpads are very nice.
I know it's not a comparative video, I'm talking about the specific chapter, and as I said if you're not using the trackpads or the gyro (and looking for a small form factor) then yes, the win 4 or any of those handled pc are great alternative (not very cheap but hey...), but not mentioning those is a big omission Imo as they are a very important design aspect of the deck, everything is not only about the CPU/GPU, inputs are important for a lot of us so... yeah... Just saying.
I remember being one of the first to attempt to jailbreak my PSP. It was done with Lumines game. That game increased in price over at eBay because of that.
The GPD Win 4 looks nice, but I already have a Steam Deck. I like to buy one handheld every 3-4 years.
Subbed to The Phawx's 👍
Thanks David, hope you enjoy the rabbit hole of his videos!
@@RetroGameCorps One factor that you forgot to mention is Ease of Use. The Valve SteamDeck is a Portable Console which happens to use PC Parts. It's almost a seamless experience like picking up a PS5 or NSwitch.
The GPD Win-4 is a PC. It's not a console. There's a bigger barrier for Pickup 'n Play compared to the SteamDeck, NSwitch, or PS5. But having WindowsOS means it's a lot more flexible than other options. In particular, with many Emulators prioritising Windows over Linux, macOS, or Android (x360, PS3, WiiU emulation are good examples).
That keyboard is giving me strong T-Mobile SideKick vibes!!
This device is tempting, great for games like ETS2, ATS, but I think I might wait to see how the AyaNeo Slide goes, it might be the better device when you take in the software AyaNeo has been working on.
I really love this system. I hope I can still get it by the time I have spare money to spend on it..
Omg this device looks freakin awesome
i will definitely pick up the next iteration of this or when my oxp blows up
The notch at the bottom is not for the dock station. It's for the LTE module attachment. One thing I do wonder and have not seen anyone test is recharging from a power bank. The way Windows is made usually requires 45w power for Windows to start accepting power input. I'm also very curious if this thing could handle a VR headset plugged into it. In theory you just need the USB port and HDMI out via the USB-C. The GPU is about equivalent to a GTX1060 and that's what I had when I got my VR Headset and it ran well.
I actually wanted to buy something like the Asus PN64 to upgrade my Gamecube-PC (PC inside a Gamecube Case). But now that I've learned about the GPD Win 4 I have decided to exchange my PC with the GPD Win. I think it's awesome to have a PC you can regulate down to 5W TDP and reduce the energy cost to a minimum. And of course this handhald can replace my bad Laptop and everything on the go. I'm really looking forward to this Handheld!
Chicken, you derp. Stepping on the keyboard again 😹❤️
Yea love the psp. I did the same. Still got found memories of playing og gameboy and gamegear even though they ate batteries like crazy. That gpd is fire looking. Would much rather buy that than a laptop. Cant wait till we can get this power for around 500
shoutout to Pedro the Lion! haven't listened to them for a while but cool to see that tshirt.
PSP was something else and the ease of doing what ever you wanted was incredible, there was nothing it couldn't do for the time. I still use mine as a dedicated music player in the car 😅 I just picked up a GPD WIN 3 to mess around with after considering a Steam Deck or an AYANEO Air Pro. It's stuff like a dedicated keyboard and a USB A that mainly influenced my decision, I need practicality and I'm not a fan of touch screen so the less of that the better. But the OLED on the Air Pro is impressive...
This is everything you need when it comes to Gaming PC
These face cam moments are so much better than just having you with your blueprint
What are you using for the stats overlay? is there any way to add battery status to it?
Anyone?
Here we go!
What controller is that you are using? Also i like this size, i have the steam deck just because i think its awesome and the reliability is great cause its native to steam but i would consider this if it were cheaper and i did not have the deck.
