Sebulba is the GOAT. One of my favorite characters. In the EU he continued to race and reclaimed champion status. After pod racing was banned, he still illegally raced in battle races and even came across Lando a few times due to a debt he owed.
Sebulba was right about one thing except it didn’t happen until he got manipulated and later betrayed. Vader is not a Sith Lord or apprentice he’s nothing but Sidious slave scum .
Lol let’s see sebulba get hard with him like that 30 years down the road. I mean he’s too much of a chicken shit to hurt a slave and have to pay watto no way is he going to. Talk to the most brutal mass murder in galactic history like that least the entire dig population be forced into slavery
Phantom Menace had the most diversified assortment of creatures of all the Star Wars live action movies. Dugs, Twi’leks, Toydarians, Gungans, etc…. Not everyone was bipedal or exact human sized. A lot more visually appealing than lots of the Sequels stuff under Disney
There is something wholesome about anakin still being a fan of pod racing as an adult with a poster in his room. I think in the comics he has even watched a pod race that participated in unbeknownst to him, remembering his achievement as the first human to win. But also quite funny of having a poster of his rival who tried to kill him.
I like to imagine his experience with Anakin humbled him and he became a better racer, plus despite his methods, I think Anakin must have been impressed by how good he was

Plus the fact that in Legends he ended up being a sorta mercenary-esq racing-based fighter pilot and worked with Lando, shows he can be reasonable. Also the poster in the Clone Wars on Anikan's wall, I like the idea the two mutually respected each other in some capacity. Anikan followed Sebulba's career, makes me wonder if the dug ever wondered what one of his old rivals was up to as a jedi.. Plus, Vader never went after him when the empire was at full power, at least not that I remember, while he did go after Watto. That, and now that I think about it.. after his podracing career, Sebulba ended up becoming sorta a starfighter pilot himself in legends. Wonder if that could've been an inspiration from observing Anikan's activities time to time.. Dunno, a lot of this is probably just headcanon but, always liked the guy, lmao.

Once scene is missing. When Anakin's pod is smoking ( 1:55 ) , we see just after a scene of 2 or 3 seconds where Sebulba is suffocating before pass Anakin.
The clips featuring Sebulba in The Phantom Menace doesn’t hit the same without the subtitles since I love to do the voice on what he sounds like by the subtitles
at 1:12 you can see Sebulba provoking Ani, so that the fact that he messed with his pod a minute ago, becomes even more unnoticed. Thatcs genius level writing right here... I always said the prequels were ahead of their time.
Sebulba could have saved the galaxy if he wasn’t such a cheap ass. According to him and anakin’s discussion the only reason sebulba didn’t murder anakin on the streets is he was unwilling to reimburse watto for killing his slave. Had sebulba been willing to bite the financial bullet there would be no empire, no Vader and no fall of the jedi
You should actually pity him, because he’s actually a slave like Anakin at this time to the Gran species along with the rest of his kind. The only reason he gets special treatment and privileges is because his overlords found out he was a heckuva racer, and it was their chance to promote the image of “Gran and Dug co-prosperity” on the intergalactic stage and boost Malastare’s standing, even though it’s only the former reaping the rewards and lauds while the latter toils away to the death. Sebulba actually secretly sympathizes with Anakin as a fellow slave, which is why he never beats or assaults him despite being physically stronger. However, on the race track, all is fair game, and he will do whatever it takes to stay ahead of the curve and be number one, lest he lose his special treatment.

There is more creativity in the Pod Racing sequence than any entire sequel film.
