I have exactly the same issue.... and seems that everyone is reporting the same experience. I took my car today to the dealer with the same complaint of this annoying sound, especially on rough side road (I drive carefully at a low speed) and they insist that this is normal and we have to get used to it!!! I have qx80, 2021
The issue stems from a $12 part from Toyota. It’s the EPS motor coupler. You have to take off the EPS housing by dropping the whole colom and removing the motor that’s sitting on top of the EPS housing. The screw under the housing is a very difficult bolt to get seated back down and the working space is very tight. You’ll need a 10, 12, 14mm wrench and open wrench as well as a few other tool.
its the rubber bushing inside that motor where shaft connects to, do not change the intermediate shaft, it will not fix it!

Look for the column steering free play or something loose
