  • Sorry for the mess. I have the unfortunate to be having a sister come home to live with me and my mom so we don’t really have enough room for her crap…
Anyways! Here’s the long overdue rant about the PS5’s HDMI device link feature and how it has not been updated to have more feature adjustments so I can peacefully turn on the TV without turning on my PS5 while having the convenience to turn on my TV with my PS5 like I can do with my Switch and Xbox…

This is happening because you are booting your TV while it is on the hdmi source that your ps5 is plugged into.
    My ps4 itself does this.
The only way to prevent systems auto starting like this is to make sure your hdmi is either disconnected after use, OR just make sure you swap the source on your TV before it powers on the console.
You also might be able to find an hdmi that doesn't support that feature, but then it will also likely be much lower quality in general.

Well, I don’t want to go through the process of doing the work of disconnecting because like I stated before, my Switch and my Xbox don’t have to turn on when I turn on the TV just fine, but if it is the type of HDMI cable or the HDMI splitter could be the issue then I may have to work on those at least. Maybe plug the HDMI to the TV instead of the splitter.

@shcgrunt yes plugging it directly into tv may make a difference. But it's because your TV is a smart tv, and when you turn the TV on while it is on the hdmi source that your console is connected to, (for example, let's say my ps4 is connected to hdmi 2, and I power off both my console and tv while the tv is still on source hdmi 2, then if I turn the tv back on again while still on that source, it will turn my console back on as well) the tv sends a sort of prompt through the hdmi cable to whatever device its connected to on that source (for me hdmi 2) and it will attempt to autostart the device if that device supports it.
So all you should have to to, is make sure that your tv isn't on the hdmi source that your ps5 runs through when you power the tv off.

@shcgrunt apologies, there should also be some way in the tv settings themselves (not console settings, the feature is not controlled by the console its a tv feature specifically) search online if you have to (youtube videos is my preferred method personally) find a tutorial to change the setting on your tv if you can't find it yourself.
From my experience though it should be in general or accessibility settings. I don't have my tv on hand for traveling but when I get home I can take a more in depth look for you.

Just use 2 HDMI cables max you might be having a bandwith problem with your hdmi spliter. And that might be a problem. Test the ps5 and the tv alone i bet that ps5 wil work as it should. Stop being kinda like a child. Problem solved.

@@candidosilva7755 I would’ve like the info you give me without that snarky comment at the end. I don’t know these things and the customer service from PlayStation was barely any help at all, that’s why I was frustrated.
