As a former RAC employee - that's one of the things I hated the most. I think they changed that now though. But we would have to call customers the day their payment was due, so technically not late, to give them a friendly "reminder" their payment was due.
I remember RAC pulling up on us for our washer n dryer payments lmao they was watching us from they truck starring into our window like sum mafia type shit lmao

Whole point of them goin above and beyond was because the law didn't really do much. At the end? They just ruined your credit and walk away with the L.

Oh we got that money. I was hardcore. I made my closing percentage of 5.9 or lower every week. It's all about relationships. Some people would pay because of how they were treated. But for those skips or delinquent customers I would track their asses down, including showing up at family affairs, jobs, hair salons etc. Heck I went to Delaware from Maryland to repossess a living room set and 2 50inch tvs. He couldn't believe we showed up at his door. We had a customer that moved to Chicago, took the furniture they rented from us with them. They were shocked as hell when one of our associates showed up at their new place and collected the remainder of the contract. I was in the store when they called and confirmed the payment. We were beast as hell when it came to that. My wife hates dealing with the associates. But I always stayed up on the payment plan. They have been very understanding with us especially during the pandemic
Got a fridge and a TV from them. Got them in November, then paid them off durring income tax time. They wanted use to get more stuff so bad. But really not not bad If you need something now but can't afford to just buy it or can't wait to save up for it.

RAC is a joke. We got a bed from them about a year back. Ended up being way more expensive than they initially told us. (Turned out the frame for the whole set was 50 a month but the mattress was an EXTRA 100 a month and they failed to mention that) told em our payment would be late cause we weren't prepared for that. Never paid em. They never showed up. Haven't heard from em since.

I worked at rac. Our store was the store the revolutionized the court system for the entire state. Ironically it was my father that did that. So even if someone didn't pay our credit manager would get the money anyway from people's checks. That and we had the best numbers in the district
Aarons doesn’t let you pay off the same as cash price. They want the full amount and rental cost. Rent a center will let you do same as cash. Sometimes same as cash price is retail or a little over. Aarons in my town is thankfully gone
The only thing you should be making payments on ia a house or a car. But you should never be making payments on appliances. These company's go after the poor. They have you paying more than what the item is worth. You miss a payment they take it back and resell it for the same price they sold it to you for. I sell you a 6000 TV.. You pay me 4000 out of that 6. You start to miss payments I take that TV back and sell it again for 6000. All while keeping the 4 grand from you. That's how they stay in buisness.
What you say is absolutely true...BUT sometimes they actually have some *1 of a kind* quality stuff. If you pay it off in 2 months there is no interest & and you ACTUALLY paid a price that is = to the quality of the merchandise. But I would not rent from them under any other circumstance... because the furniture quality is poor and if you miss a payment they will come and get it..lol
You would never see these companies in a middle class or higher class neighborhood. Just like pay day loan companies, their only for the poor and working class.
