If The Kalash can somehow keep the World As We Know It at bay, maybe they can keep all their wonderful traditions. Their isolation is a big part of why they have preserved their way of life.!
Kalash people follow an ancient form of Hinduism. Obviously, they came in contact with Macedonians. Some of their customs (mensstruation isolation, being away from husbands during pregnancy, choosing husbands, etc.) are followed in some rural areas of modern India. Hopefully, Pakistan will preserve their culture and stop Islamization. India & the UN should provide funds to preserve these beautiful people and their culture.

Nothing shocking and peculiar about them. They are the indigenous Aryans who have a proto-Aryan religion and most of the Northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent is related to them except the majority in this region follow a non-Aryan Semitic-Islam.
Their art, dress, and fabric designs are very similar to the Navajo and the Nez Perce of the southwestern US. Also, the original hippies movement of the 1960s drew a lot of inspiration from these Central Asian tribes, with cliche Buddhist and Hindu stuff tossed in and psychedelics as well.

Kalash , Kailash - the hooded cobra motifs indicate a strong shiva belief system exists , they obviously are part of the original tribals of the region dating back to probably the Indus or before. Hope they survive given the brutality of pakistani islam on minorities.

As I was watching this video about the beutiful Ka;ash people of Pakistan it was quite shocking to see how little research had gone into knowing the Kalash culture before making this video which sounds like anti-Islam and antti-Pakistan propoganda. First of all Kalash did not diverge from Islam or any other relegion. They are are also not decendents of Alexander who came to the region much later. As noted in genetic analysis of the Kalash in the scientific literature:
"Comparison with published data from ancient hunter-gatherers and European farmers showed that the Kalash share genetic drift with the Paleolithic Siberian hunter-gatherers and might represent an extremely drifted ancient northern Eurasian population that also contributed to European and Near Eastern ancestry."
Kalash belong to a very isolated gene pool
There have been no known attempts to convert Kalash to Islam. To the contrary Pakistani government has by law declared the Kalash a protected group and prohibits bringing any Islamic relegious books or from any other relegion for that matter to the Kalash. They are being looked to be included in UNESCO Heritage protected group with the full coperation of the Pakistani government
As far as mariages to mainstream muslims are concerned a handful of Kalash women have married Pakistani men of their own choosing and were not forced to do so. When that happens according to Kalash phlosophy they do not stop the marriages but rather accept that as an individual choice. If they do choose to convert to Islam they cannot convert back to Kalash relegion after that.
And please stop calling billions of muslims and Islam a cult. Islam is considered one of the three 'book'relegions including christianity and Judaism. Please show some respect and understanding for all relegions.
