At my time waxing or shaving was not normal, and everyone had hairy legs it was no big deal. Instead having you legs waxed was not normal.
Now considering, i did my 12th in 2018, so much have changed in 5 years, their are new normals.
I remember I was the only girl with more hair as compared to other classmates in school.even though we had knee length skirt,I would feel very low because of it.
In those days waxing,shaving was a big No in house.

I was born in 71 and most of us either did not have money to visit a parlour or were not permitted by our moms to go for waxing. Al this skin care products, waxing, tons of make-up and brands are full BS. The brands understand that women are emotionally weak so they are the target and not men. All women products are more expensive than men products. How many women ever think of this.

A good skincare is not BS. a good skincare consists of mainly 3 things. cleanser/face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen along with that you can buy whatever serum you like depending on your concern, this is optional. Also I disagree with the waxing thingy, if it makes you confident do it. you'll feel better about yourself
Women are not emotionally weak, they're actually way better than men in dealing with their emotions least destructively.
The society in general puts more value on a woman's appearance and therefore judgement and shaming is way harsh on female bodies aiding the whole beauty industry and their unattainable standards.

I think waxing and shaving are personal choices. Keeping your body hair or shaving it off are equally okay. It's "your" hair and you get to decide what to do with it. But saying and believing in that, I also know how much courage you need to keep body hair because the society and sometimes even your close ones and friends can pass comments that can bring your spirit down in seconds. It's sad to see how someone who believes in being liberal can be brought down by the collective negative programming of the society where there are set rules to beauty and how one should conduct themselves. I really hope for people to be kind. The least and best we can do for someone is to let them be comfortable in their skin.❤️

I'm genuinely curious. And don't jump the wagon. No hair shaming here. I completely understand you didn't want to shave. But why spoil the aesthetics of a cute red mini dress?. I mean, see you could have worn a translucent stockings or maybe, a longer length skirt. But when influencers or just upper class is doing something, the others will copy them automatically to look like them. Like if all the men in society would dream to have a girl like xyz (you can fill any actress or influencer) so the ordinary girls will automatically start dreaming to become like those actresses or influencers.

So this happened when I was sick and went to a clinical lab for certain tests and i was sitting on a bench outside the blood test unit, waiting for my chance to be getting tested. I was wearing baggy pants not even a skirt and sitting with crossed legs..and because I was sitting in that posture a little part of my legs were showing and as I told before I was sick so I didn't wax my legs for a long time and my legs were pretty hairy, a woman( around 27-28) sitting in front of me saw this and immediately told her husband sitting next to her and they both started to stare at me and saying things in each other ears and even laughed pointing towards my legs like not loudly but secretively which ofcourse I saw....I was quite taken aback and hid my legs with a scarf that I had with me that time, my cousin noticed this and gave an intense stare to them (like mind your own business) and they stopped laughing and started to look here and there... I was not in the condition to confront them...but was really embarrassed and a little bit hurt too thinking that people become inhuman to even towards a sick person. I don't mind having hair on my body...but incidents like this really break your confidence 😢

That couple were clearly mean people. More than that, they were bored and decided to have some laughter with this. That was mean though. I also appreciate the fact that you were wearing pants. Flaunting body hair in short dresses goes against dressing aesthetics. We all have body hair, thin, thick, less more. It's fine. Nothing to be ashamed of. But you see. See it light heartedly. My cousin used to have like really thick long curly hair on her legs and arms, and she herself used to make fun of it. And she was cool about it. She got rid of it with time, by laser I guess. Home laser kits are affordable these days. Simply be confident. Don't be affected.

U live in a paradise truly both geographically and also the mindsets of the people are so great, I mean here in Kolkata even 10 years back also people weren't so obsessed with looks but things have changed drastically, once I went to ofc wearing a half sleeved top and one female senior told me ur hands are so hairy, since that day I only wear full sleeved kurti, bcoz I have no interest in shaving , but people's bully hit me as well,for these people we can't stay freely, I mean what's wrong in not removing ur hairs on hands and legs, there's nothing to do with hygiene, but it really boggles my mind that how this removing has become a mandate thing for many people and they can't digest the fact if someone doesn't shave , and that hits me.

I am a very very hairy person.... And I have so much hair on my legs. But I rarely shave or wax my legs... I always wear lounge shorts at home and I never shy away from anyone in showing my hairy legs.... I even have facial hair... Chin hair... And I never feel embarrassed when my chin hair grows. I often keep them as it is... Sometimes when I go for some party or something... Then I wax my chin hair... Otherwise I keep it as it is

Some of us shave because we genuinely feel confident and beautiful when we do for ourselves not for others. They themselves wear tonnes of make up to look glamorous, hardly normalising simple no make look. You didn't understand, it's a choice and she is taking her choice, the way you cannot question someone who doesn't shave their hair, you also can't point fingers at people who do. The point is to be comfortable in what you want and society not traumatising you for your choices. The point is not getting hairy models or influencers to normalise it. After all you have to do some amount of work on your inner strength too.

Don’t accept body shaming from others or yourself. Even many foreigners don’t wax their legs and wear shorts/skirts. From then I started wearing skirts without waxing. Be cool in whatever body you are. But try not to be odd one out especially in collages because you don’t want disturbance from classmates.
