- In this video I am reviewing the new Sonus Faber Serafino G2 HiFi speakers that are stunning in every way. They are a new old speaker taking a classic Sonus Faber speaker from three decades ago and bringing it right up to modern standards with all of Sonus Fabers latest speaker design and technologies. As such they a very high end 3.5 way designed speaker with a lot of clever technologies and they sound fantastic.

Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video. For those who look closely yes there is some paint left on hands even after washing them 10 times we have all been there. Dont worry I only handled the speakers wearing gloves !!
Oh, my goodness - this is proper HiFi p0rn! Thanks, Terry - I absolutely adore Sonus Faber speakers! I have a pair of Sonetto Vs with a Moon 340i X, and I don't think I'd ever be tempted by another speaker brand... I just lust after more expensive SF models!
I totally understand what you mean not being tempted by another brand 😅
Having said that, I've found in my short 38 years it's never a bad idea to give some others a listen. After all, variety is the spice of life! My experience refers to owning my first Dynaudio speaker, C1 platinum which are incredible in their own right, but this summer I was tempted by a much less expensive pair of Elac Solano floor models which I've been extremely impressed with considering the Dynes are double the cost.
Eventually I'd like to try these SF Serafinos though, but considering the higher price segment, I would still need to set aside more spending money to lessen the guilt! lol 😅
Awesome review. I just told my wife that we will own these speakers one day. We love our Mcintosh MA352 and Sonus Faber Sonetto 3’s.
I have thought about getting the threes. Probably would have if the dealer let me audition them at my place. Still thinking about it. How would you briefly summarize your experience with them?
@@lsaideOK, I really like them a lot. Not as revealing as Focal or Bowers and Wilkins but those make my ears hurt after a few minutes, I can listen to these all day and night.
Great review as always. I just auditioned a pair of Amati G5 yesterday and I agree, the soundstage thrown by these new SF speakers is unbelievable. Your description of seeing through the speakers is spot on.
u think these are better than the g5?
I really appreciate your work. You do such a great job. Thank you.
Performance on a whole new level with these .. I was blown away by the details and clear sound.. Just breathe taking.
Another solid well balanced review. A lot of handy information fo anyone considering these gorgeous speakers. Thanks Terry👍😎
Thanks very much Rob
Nice to see you reviewed my two favorite speakers.... I have the Serafino's G2 versions in Wenge and just ordered the Audio Physic Spark in Ebony! Great work on your reviews thank you!
Wenge 😍
Terry gets to play with all the cool toys. So jealous. Great job,as always Terry! Cheers.
Yeah I have been playing with some crackers lately
Great review. I always like seeing Sonus Faber speakers reviewed. They are so beautifully constructed. I nearly bought the Sonetto 3s at one point. These are out of my price range so it would be good if you could get your hands on a pair of speakers downstream. Sonetto III and above to Olympica.
Really love the channel and your take on reviews, You’ve been reviewing some fascinating products too. Can’t wait for the REL review!
RELs are next :)
Great review Terry, appreciated. These sound like what I'd dream of and I hope one day I'll get to hear them. For now, I can just dream and keep doing the lottery 😂
Thanks for the review. I'm thinking of getting the Amati G5, the bigger brother of Serafino. I'm just waiting for Auralic to release their Aries G3 with Dirac Live. I've learn the benefits of fine-tuning the system for the room with Dirac Live calibration. I think the big Amati might benefit from it in my room. I might give you a ring when I got all of it together to help with the curves 😀
Thanks Terry, man these are nice looking speakers and wow the contents of that box makes you geek out
Terry I love your "I'll Never Afford That" videos 😊
Sonus Faber fan! I have the Sonetto VIII, they are amazing. Would love to go up in the line, but in Canadian $$ it gets to be a big pile of money. The Serifinos are beautiful! Great review, Cheers!
These speakers are shockingly beautiful in person. So much so you find yourself not wanting to look away but keep staring at them. The video doesn't do them justice.
Sorry man, did my best
@@PursuitPerfectSystem oh no worries. I don’t think any video could show how beautiful these speakers are.
Well done Terry once again 👏🏼
If I had the money to build a system at that level, the beautiful sinus Fabre serafinos would definitely be my speakers 👌🏼
sinus Fabre😂😂
Thanks for the review. Very interesting and detailed. Ive listened to the nova olympica and was curious what the step up to these gives. Also curious on comparion to audiovector r6 arrete. Also great looking. Any thoughts when driven by an ultima 5?
Great video. Upgrading from the Olymica Nova III's, delivery tomorrow, can't wait!
Wow nice
I enjoy my nova 3 and MA352 combo for 6 months. I am very curious to hear your feedback about your Serafino upgrade? What about the bass?
Nice video and beautiful looking speakers 🔊. On the SF website I see a very nice dark finish which I like even more.
Minor point is the crossover I think, although what it looks like SF implemented good quality caps, the cross coils look standard. Flat coils would be nicer for a speaker like this. 👍
Serafino's G2 arrived some days ago replacing the Olympica Nova II. Fantastic speakers, WOW!!
I thought that the Olympica Nova II was good but these are much much better.
With the old speakers I was struggling with the lows and had to use DSP . Altough the Serafino goes lower (30 Hz. instead of 40 Hz.) they seem to match better in my room.
The match with my Mola Mola Tambaqui and Nad M23 is exellent (for me). I'm hearing things now I didn't hear before.
single nad or dual mono?
Janneman, Have you listened to the Nova III? If so how would they compare to the G2's? I have the NAD M33, as I am in the middle of this, how does the M23 push these wonderful speakers? Do you feel you require more power?
Hi, sorry for late reply, I did not listen to the III, the M23 has enough power to drive them, in meantime I switched also to Grimm MU2 streamer/dac. Altough I'm open for suggestions as an alternative for the M23
Nice video.Thank you!
Nice review. If i had the cash this speaker would be high on my list.
These speakers on an MA12000 or a Michi X5 are insanely good, wish I could take them home lol
Great review Terry. Thank you! Certainly love your sub-woofer setup. Those are some big daddies there. Is there a chance that you can ask Peter Comeau to send you a set of Elysian 4's to review at some point? Thanks again for all the detail and beauty.
Thanks very much, I have some Elysian being delivered tomorrow but I think its the new 3 rather than the 4 but you should be able to get a good idea of what the Elysian are all about :). Its my first time listening to any of them
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Can't wait for the review thanks Terry. Yes it should give a very good idea of what the 4's sound like.
Pease review the Perlisten S5T speakers. Would love your opinion on these!
🙋♂️THANKS TERRY, AS RECORDING QUALITY HAS GROWN…SO IT MAKES SENSE TO UPGRADE SPEAKERS ALSO…PROVIDING MORE REASONS TO BE AN AUDIOPHILE TODAY 😊💚💚💚
MORE CURVES THAN AN A KETUCKY MOUNTAIN !!!! LOVE YOUR SHOW!!!!
For curves I assume you mean me - thanks very much for the kind words 😎
I have this experience with the Klipsch Heresy 3. Not at the same level- true. But they do this thing that reveals amp/ source- particularly source), while not tearing recordings apart. My Spendors seem to reveal recordings. I've never thought it was a real thing..maybe my imagination? But maybe it is. I found yours an interesting observation tho. So, thanks again!
Thanks for your videos ! How would you say they compare to the Marten speakers that are in the same price range in term of sound character and the impression they had on you ?
Great question, one I cant answer as I havent listened to any Marten recently with my new room layout, also there are several different Marten sounds Ceramic and Diamond. I might be getting some Diamond but its not planned in yet
how do you comment about gauder akustik speaker capello series? thx❤
Is this the same cherrywood color used for the Amati?
You are the best reviewer
That is very kind of you
Day dreaming them in my entertainment room ' paired to A fully Master Resto modded Sansui
Ahhh !! Thanks Terry
Ps Beautiful Speakers
Great review.
How would you compare Serafino/Amati vs BW 801/2 D4?
Did you get any answers to your question? I'm thinking of going from 802d3 to the Amadi G5
Thanks!
Wow very kind of you thank you very much
You used a Terry jumper kit to connect the treble and mid-bass speaker outputs. bridge ,,,or --Original serafino jumpers --speaker mounting plates....What would you recommend...Thanks for the work you are doing..
I always use matching jumpers to my speaker cables
@@PursuitPerfectSystem you don't rely on the originals ok
Excellent review, do you think they can sound good in an 18-20 square meter room, or the 803d4 fits better, purely from a space perspective.
Thanks I think you should pick the speaker you like the most as both are very similar in terms of working a smaller room - based on how they were in my smaller room.
Thank you!
@@PursuitPerfectSystem I could not find exact dimensions of your room anywhere your site. What are the exact dimensions of your room? Thank you.
From my experience, I would say Bowers and Wilkins speakers are more visually dominant compared to Sonus Faber. The 702's in my larger space were a bit too much for me. But that's my taste of course
The front should be the wood also but beautiful speakers
The sonus faber layback sound is the best.
box with brace, nice touch
I thought so too
Did you get a chance to listen to the previous gen Serafino (from 2017 or so)? Thoughts, comparisons?
No John sorry this is my first time listening to these
Does the crossover utilize iron-core inductors and sand-cast resistors? Because if it does, I’d never consider purchasing this speaker.
Elite
Nice❤
Would you say that you like the Atc 50a more than the SF? How would you compare the midrange of the 2? Thanks!
I'm interested in the answer to that. These definitely look 1000 times better
I think the two propositions are very different in look and sound, its hard for me to say too much as I looked at the ATC with my old room arrangement, much more near field than I sit now and I didnt have the amazing rels at the time as opens a whole new door. Sorry guys I dont want to mis lead anyone here
@@PursuitPerfectSystem no Problem!
Hi Terry, how big is your listening room you used here?
Roughly 12.5 feet wide, about 17 feet long and 8.5 feet high - but very acoustically treated too :)
Stack that pair of subs & run them in the center between the mains.
I listen the Nova 3 vs the Serafino… my budget was allowed me the Nova 3… and I still dream of the Serafino… sound stage, mid, so much easy listening… but… $$$
I'm considering buying this speaker.
Would it be possible to get a decent sound from the Serafino G2 with a Nad M23 class D amp?
Anyone with experience?
Off course I'll try before buy but i'm just curious.
Very much yes, the M23 would be a good choice, maybe not the forever one as you could go better with these speakers but its a very good amp and I think would sound good
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Thanks you for the quick reply, I already thought it would be possible, so I'll give it a try.
Serafinos substituted and bettered my Magico S1 Mk2’s. I am thinking how much they would cost here in Europe if they were produced in USA like Magico’s? Now I know one thing for sure that I will never again pay 10000€ + for taxes and transportation only and not for the sound.
I have a feeling you're not going to review the Dovedales after all?
Still waiting to get them, I have asked. I have got some other Wharfedale coming this week not the Big D though sadly
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Great! It would be fun to see a Mission 770 vs. Wharfedale Dovedale battle.
SONUS FABER ARE GOOD FOR THE BRAIN!!!! & EAR'S!!!!
Thank you Terry,
Another corker.....
Thanks Anthony
Lucky enough to have a pair of these speakers. They sound awesome, but the best part is they are very wife-friendly!😂
Will you let the viewers hear the speakers sound???
You can go and demo them anytime you want, that’s how you should hear them. They will sound exactly as I explained
Spikes?
I removed them to shoot the b roll so I could slide the heavy speakers around on my carpet. Spikes makes it very hard to move heavy speakers close to each other without bumping them together potentially damaging them
Why are there "feet" that stick-out of the bottom?....................
Are they unstable without them? Does an unstable cabinet design improve the sound quality?
If narrow towers are supposed to take up less "Square-feet", than why not incorporate ballast instead? That would enhance the stability while remaining within the confines of the cabinets "Foot-print". Perhaps the cabinet could narrow as it approached the tweeter.
The answer is, of course, shipping. The next marketable evolutionary step from large 3-way floor-standers was not to tower speakers. It was to tiny satellite speakers. Towers came last. Satellites grew to bookshelfs then to standmounts and the problem of out-of-the-box tweeter height became a problem. So, we got speaker stands that cost more to make & ship then just cutting longer wood lengths of a square box. Hence the tower was born. Offspring to accountants, short assembly lines & watch wearing salepersons.
Reggae, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
I removed the spikes to shoot the B Roll of the speakers - when the speakers are on their own as they are heavy and I have limited space so its easier to move them to thew angle I wanted, they slide on carpet. The spikes are a really nice design
So for how long were the Serafinos the „new“ Modell ? 2 years, 3 years ? This is rediculous. SF should have done their homework better and make it a G2 to begin with. But it makes more money to bring a new Modell to the market I guess. Also despite being at 90db efficiency at 4ohm on paper SF speakers tend to drop to 2ohm or even less which makes them hard to drive not easy. I like the musical sound they produce but you need a healthy amp otherwise they are not in control especially in the bass department.‘ that is my own experience.
To be fair nothing stays new or latest forever, it’s a developing industry
@@PursuitPerfectSystemyou are right. But some companies bring out a new speaker every 5 or 6 years (like TAD or Wilson).
Maybe thats the improved motor system benefit in this iteration as I was getting good results from an Audiolab 9000a which is a good amp but not at the level of what you would expect for a speaker at this price
Why would someone buy this when they could reach a little higher and by the G5?
Probably £9k and room size
£22,000.
I find it a huge compliment to Wilson Benesch that they have copied their form.
The aesthetic changes from the first gen to the g2 are crap. At least for the red finish. Cost cutting at its finest. Not
