Thank you Kelly. Stunning deck. On the wishlist it goes
Looking at all reviews of tarot decks I just received. Love this deck and love your reviews
Thank you so much for making this video. I've been eyeing this tarot and so many cards brought a smile to my face when you showed them. This really speaks to me but I wasn't sure before. Thank you!
You are very welcome! This deck really has an amazing guidebook!
Thanks Kelly for an excellent review as always. I first saw this deck on Storytelling Tea and Tarot and she to mentioned how well researched the illustrations for each card was and so to that point, the wealth of information that the guidebook offers makes up for the minuses of the cardstock and box insert :-) Once again, you have inspired my deck addiction!
Thank you for such an extensive review! I've been longing for this deck and it's on my wishlist. (I also prefer thinner cardstock.)
A great review. I fell in love with this deck immediately and will buy it. I got my first deck only three years ago and this will be my second one. :)
I love this deck.
I received this deck on Friday but just now had a chance to go through it. It was fun to go through the deck while watching your video! I do not tend to riffle shuffle because I have small hands with short fingers, so I do not have a huge issue with the card stock. However, the cards do not slide against each other very well so far. Other than that, this is probably my favorite out of all my animal based decks.
amazing Tarot deck!really enjoyed working with her!!
Thanks so much for doing this video. It was extremely helpful. My deck didn't come with a book and there were several animals I couldn't decipher. That noise in the water I was clueless about.
I got mine from Wish... XD
Didn't come with guide book either & trying to decipher meanings, hence checking out this video :)
Mine's, unlike she describes, was pretty thin stock that seems easy to enough shuffle (actually thinner than a playing card deck I have). How was yours? Was it thick like she describes or thinner like mine?
@@user-ti4dl8tw7h Unfortunately the tarot decks from Wish (and Aliexpress) are counterfeit decks (fakes). That's why they have different, thin cardstock and don't come with a book.
This looks like my kind of deck, excellent review thank you xxx
+Sam Wright I'm really enjoying how it's reading! :D
Thank you Kelly, This is the first i have heard of this deck. Very nice and very nice review. I must have it lol
Thank you for sharing this!
I ordered it.. thank you for your insights x
+Tam CB You are very welcome :D
I just got this deck today and from start to finish it's a masterpiece. This has to be the illustrator's magnum opus! My favorite cards are the High Priestess (Black Widow), The Moon (Owl), Ace of Pentacles (Dung Beetle), Two of Cups (Hermit Crab), and the Queen of Swords (Wolf). This deck was so satisfying to go through, I spent almost a minute pouring over each card. This is going to be tough to find a more lush and exquisite Tarot deck, and as for animal decks, forget it...it wins it hands down.
I have this deck and love it as well.. Great video! Thank you
I understand it's been released again with better cardstock... I'm tempted to check it out!
I love it 💖💖(now I want it lol) thanks Kelly, 😉 your reviews rocks!!
+fatima nayeli I do actually find it reads very lovely!
Hi Kelly, thank you for showing us this deck. I'm loving it and the book sounds like an awesome read but those certain cards with the dead animals is hard to take but as you say, this is normal in nature and in life, the cycles, so I'll have to think this over a bit more. The Sugar Glider card is of particular interest as I have two Suggies and they are amazing fun. Thanks again, Kelly. Much love, Janis
You are very welcome, I really have found this deck to read very well and AW to having sugar gliders!!! SOOOO sweet!!! ::HUGS::
you've convinced me to move this up to the top of my wishlist which is quite long lol. thank you for this video.
It's a lovely one, quite a strong reader! And you are VERY welcome! ::HUGS::
Hi Kelly! Here I am four years after you posted your review checking it out. I just added this deck to my collection! As well as three of her books. I’m now considering her other decks. Do you have any of them? Thoughts? I was amused by some of the differences. My box is is really nice flip top magnetic close. The inner tray is still kind of flimsy but a tighter fit with a really nice blue ribbon. I don’t mind the backs at all. I think they’re kind of whimsical in a kaleidoscope(y) way. I think they must have changed the GSM on the cards as mine is much more flexible and and then cards glide really nicely. I really and truly appreciate a well done guidebook. It’s prolly the thickest guidebook I have to date. I agree the paper is a bit lacking. Comic book style paper with full colour pages would have made the guide top notch. I love how in depth your reviews are. :)
There goes my wallet Kelly! Thank you for another wonderful review 🌻
I'm really impressed with this deck, even with the peril. I can't rifle shuffle to save my life so thicker stock okay for me BUT I also love the original Llewellyn card stock. I'm also a wierdo that likes the funny white box because it's useful for storing the decks while I'm making a pouch. I keep my decks in all their big boxes with their pouches and book.
+Kaleidoscope Tarot LOL I think you are the ONLY person I've heard that likes the big white box in Llewelyn's big boxes :D :D
I actually really like this deck, I agree with her on the back of the card design. But I don't have issues with the card thickness and I love that the cards are 2.75 inches by 4.5 inches which is just great in hands. I have the animal wisdom deck and I love it but the cards can get to big for on the go. But I also love the matte finish on the book, I was worried about it feeling waxy because some waxy books can feel gross after a while but the book isn't waxy at all, it's just matte and feels nice. Over all I wish there was a better way of storing the cards but this deck is amazing
There are Lemur videos on You Tube showing lots of them doing this at the same time.
The cardstock of mine seems more plasticky and is a joy to shuffle. I wonder if they changed the cardstock since then. Its one of my favorite decks to work with though and works well with the wild unknown animal spirits oracle.
Little Bear Tarot I believe Llewelyn has gone through several cardstock changes, I know there are three versions of cardstock in the Linestrider deck!!
Great review! Very long but I couldn't stop watching :D I liked that you reviewed the book too, seems to be a great set. I agree on the back of the deck - not impressed with it, but the whole deck and the book seems great 🤩
I am not all the way through the video yet, but I thought I'd add something that may be helpful about the choices Llewellyn makes in their packaging. Their typical packaging where the cards sit atop an empty box, actually has a purpose. When the top "slip" is torn off, the empty box can actually be used as a card box for the tarot deck. It's cheap and plain white, but it could allow for decorating if you like that sort of thing. (I am not sure if /all/ the packaging with such boxes are like this, but I know a vast majority nowadays are).
Good point! I think if they really wanted the boxes used this way it would fit the deck a little bit more lol, but I see a big shift in tarot boxes from mass market companies so hopefully these will get a bit more protective soon too!! :D
The killer whale is a very important animal to me (as you can tell by my username!) so once I saw the chariot I knew I would be adding it to my wishlist. Fun fact: the middle orca in the card is based off of a photo of L57 Faith. Look him up and you'll find it :)
I'm with you on the cardstock. I could see it just watching you touch it. I bet more money was spent on thicker cardstock and slightly cheaper paper used for the book and box to offset the change.
Apparently now they are on to a third cardstock that is much thinner, even then the original Llewellyn cardstock!
ordered and bought it
I was just praying for my brother while looking for totem animal tarot reading videos when I came across this video. When I saw this video from the selection page, I was kind of thinking if the animal on the book was a weasel. I clicked on it and I saw that the illustrator of the book has my brothers name on it. What a synchronicity!
The Wild Unknown is animal and nature based but feels more universal somehow. This deck requires you to subscribe to a particular worldview, in a way the WU doesn't. But as you said the art style is vastly different too. I agree with Bart though about having Pentacles and such popping up in realistic nature scenes :D As for cardstock: I actually like the Shadowscape thin cardstock because unlike the Raven's Prophecy it feels very solid and sleek in the hand even though thin. Mind you though, as soon as I trimmed the Shadowscape, the deck "fluffed up", it can't even fit in the original box because it became thicker as a deck. The cardstock remain thin, but no longer as sleek in the hand. So I suspect the quality of card stocks depends not only on thickness but also quality of lamination, how they are cut, and whether they are layered with different core material. Among others :)
+Nobody Here That makes sense on the lamination but all put together, I think some will like the card stock change, I clearly do not ;) I agree about the WU, although there is still a similar jarring effect when all of a sudden we have 10 swords in a bison and worms cut up by swords that is equally out of place, just more artistically rendered I suppose, lol :D The other issue that I have (NOT that it stops me from loving the WU) is that there is a sense that death in the natural world is always caused by man made implements (all swords, other than the death card which seem of natural causes), and we see the beautiful nobility of the animal world with less of the natural violence. Whereas in this deck while 3 deaths are human inflicted, 3 others are the natural violence in the animal world where some are prey. Two cards are "enslavement" of a form, one man inflicted on the ox, and the other inflicted by their species in the hanged man card. So I did find that interesting about this deck especially given it's an animal totem theme which would, you think, incline it towards the "noble animal" even more so. Not that I'm arguing the beauty and nobility of animals :D just that there is a natural cycle that does include the hunter and the prey in nature as well. And now I'm just rambling on about something you weren't even talking about :D :D :D
Love your videos, do you think that this it’s a deck to work our animal totem ? Because it’s what I’m looking for. Thanks
6 y later I must get this book, hope to find it.... I wish the animal was on the card, maybe they will make a second edition with the animal name and maybe a keyword😍
Great review. I agree with the non reversible backing and it not being the best, very strange indeed. Never understood why you wouldn't have it reversible when tarot needs to be read both ways.
The funny thing is that I don't even read with physical reversals but I do think backings should be reversible as a lot of people do!
Hope to have a trade for this as the green witch didn't hit with me and animals are calling me more at the moment.. gorgeous deck
I just picked this up from the local magick store today. They may have changed the card stock since this review? Mine is the same thickness as my other Llewellyn tarot decks and it came in a nice box with the magnetic flap.
Jonathan Dockter Yes, Llewellyn changed their cardstock and boxes!
Can you please tell me what the dimensions of the cards are. I love this deck but I want to make sure that it can fit in my small hands
Just realised he's the artist that worked on The Llewellyn Classic Tarot.
+Kaleidoscope Tarot Ahhh, this I did not know :D
Thank you! So now this deck is in the file "to bay some day soon.."!😀
Happy Easter! Glad påsk! (Swedish) Hyvää pääsiäistä! (Finnish) 🐣
Hugs & Sunshine N 🎆
+Sunshine Crystal :D I'm sorry to add to your "to buy" list!! And Happy Easter to you as well!!
Don't be sorry, good to have someone to blame, lol! No seriously.. the three of swords was so..can't find the words.. It grabbed me, in a heartfelt way..I love, truly love my elephants..and this card really shows sorrow and pain and the life cycles.. So beautiful and so to truth. 🎆
That "click" on the shuffle drove me crazy!!
+Jamie Morris I find that annoying as well, but in the end I guess the majority of people don't like Llewellyn cardstock and maybe they are listening to their viewers lol, just not to ME who loves the old cardstock!
You're such an enabler :p I want this deck. Unfortunately Belgium is not a great tarot deck country... I always have to order internationally.. costs a lot!
+AnneLien1987 LOL I'm sorry, I was surprised to see it sitting on the shelf, I really wasn't in the market for it right now!
I just received it as a gift and I am very happy. I always go back to your video and go through the deck together with you :) I love the card stock :p
order it from aliexpress
Great review Kelly! Thanks for sharing your insights, I really need to dig into this book! xxx
+foxfire forest I do think it's a great book and one that if you don't really read it, you miss out on a lot of the details of WHY an animal was chosen!
I have been wanting to purchase this deck for quiet some time now but I am having a hard time understanding the devil card can you give me a little more insight on the explanation of the card from the book. Ty
Would love to buy it from you!
I got the deck from a store in my town but I didn't realise it was meant to come with a book, is there anywhere I could just get the book??
Never thought i would like this deck so much.. Would love to read the book. Not fond of the backing. Normally don't mind cardstock if its not to super flimsy. I would like better llewellyn boxes. Thank you for this review..... yep... on my wishlist
You can get the app for $3.99 and check out the book :)
+The Truth in Story thank you, such a great idea!
I just got these today. they are the version with the Asian writting on them. the card stock is great for rifle shuffle. must be different than yours
I think there are two cardstocks floating around, I don't mind it though and have let it go :D
27:55 Spider..spider the Emperors response when i told him about the Spider.he told me to call the COPs..last summer when i noticed spiders everywhere. But i love how u honestly described ME..solitude.telling my own story. My truth. My words.
Does anyone know the size of the deck itself?
Excellent.xoxo
:* I'm glad you enjoyed it! ::HUGS::
i really like the imagery in this deck. It somehow comes across as very honest and straight to the point for me. I thought i wouldn't like it when you showed it in your live video yesterday, but having seen the whole deck properly card by card, it is quite beautiful. However...im not a fan of the backs of the cards.
+snowdropbelle I agree wholeheartedly on the backs of the cards but I can get over them as I agree that the cards seem very honest and strait forward! :)
Did Kelly really call an Ostrich a Peacock ? haha either way i looooooved this deck. im a huge animal lover and ill probably end up getting it lol
+Melissa Chavez I might have, lol, it was like 2am, I'll have to watch it back and see :D
Hi I know this video is from ages ago but I really need an answer for this question I have. I have animal totem as my first tarot deck and as I tried out the inner totem spread (from chapter 8 in the book), I found myself picking The Atoll (the world) for the second card which represents the roots. I have trouble understanding what that means so hopefully someone can give me answers for this.
I would say that your roots should be in a thriving balanced world--while this is true for everyone, this reading indicates that you should put the time and effort into creating a thriving, coexisting life ecosystem because this provides the strength for you to grow from and the resources to draw from as you grow, that's just what comes to mind :)
@@TheTruthinStory wow thank you so much ❤❤❤
@@TheTruthinStory If you don't mind, can I also hear your interpretation for card 4 (action, inspiration, reaction). I pulled out the Tower (termite) for this. I really appreciate your help!
i bought this and i didnt get a book and the qr that is on the deck doesnt work would you know of a place i could order just the book
Any deck that offers a QR code and no guidebook is a pirated deck unfortunately :/
Could you please explain to me why for animal totem tarot there is one illustration with a fox on the cover and then there is another that says it is the guide to animal totem Terrell wear that one has the squirrel with the pentacles like acorns in its mouth and hands versus the animal totem Terrell with the fox hopping leaping over something in the wooded area. Like nowhere does it say why there is two I can only assume and come to the conclusion that it is the same and I happened to stumble upon your video as I speak today is February know March 1st 2023 March 2nd 2023 end of March 1st in March 2nd 2023 that I started questioning and researching an answer to my thought process and I'm just confused why there's two unless they are different in some way shape or form. Is it perhaps revised version of the deck I don't know but it is the only deck out of the 11 12 decks that I have obtained over the last year that I have started my spiritual journey and my tarot journeydid I just can't seem to understand why it would be like this or why there would be no answer or logical explanation visible knowing that this is confusing unless I'm just the only one but I'm very particular with OCD and all and I just it's driving me nuts why I cannot seem to understand how two different pictures but obviously the same tarot deck the actual playing cards under each the design design pattern is identical that is what is leading me to believe it's all related to the original same animal totem Terrell by Lisa Robertson illustrated by Eugene Smith SMH!!!??!?!?! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE I'M SORRY FOR BEING SO LONG-WINDED OR GOING ON AND ON IF INDEED THERE IS SOME EASY SIMPLE EXPLANATION SOMEWHERE THAT I HAVE JUST NOT COME ACROSS YET. BUT THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR IF YOU ARE ABLE TO EASE MY MIND AND SEE THIS MADNESS IN MY HEAD GOING CRAZY BECAUSE IT'S THE ONLY DECK THAT HAS DONE THIS. ALSO WHY DO THEY ADVERTISE WHEN YOU GO TO BUY A DECK ONLINE OR SOMEWHERE AND THERE'S NO BOOKI AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AT SOME OF MY DECKS BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED THE GUIDEBOOK AND OUT OF 12 DECKS I WOULD SAY I ONLY HAVE FOUR GUIDEBOOKS OUT OF 12 AND THEN I HAVE TO USE THE QR CODE METHOD WHICH MY COMPUTER I'M SORRY MY PRINTER IS OBVIOUSLY NOT COMPATIBLE TO PRINT OUT OR BE HOOKED UP THROUGH THE PHONE IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING AN ISSUE AND AN AREA OF A HURDLE WHEN IT COMES TO SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE VERY SIMPLE AND EASY TO DO LIKE MY GUIDEBOOK SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED WITH MY PURCHASE AS ADVERTISED FROM WHERE I PURCHASED EACH ONE FROM SHAKE MY HEAD BUT THAT'S REALLY MY ONLY COMPLETE WITH REGARDS TO THE TERRA COMMUNITY AND SO I JUST HAD TO GET THAT OFF MY CHEST THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT AND IF YOU COULD PLEASE HELP ME THAT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED PEACE LOVE AND ROCK AND ROLL FOR ♾️!
I apologize I used talk and text and so where it says trel all over the place it's obviously supposed to say taro and the other misspellings and incorrect punctuation I am so sorry for all the errors my talk-to-text always messes up everything I say every time it's never perfect so I think you could read between the lines though LOL hopefully and thank you for what you do I did not know that your channel existed until this evening and I'm very excited to watch your videos so I can diabetes and deeper in learn a lot of the tricks of the trade and even just anothers opinion from what I'm hearing over this first video of yours that I'm listening to but this is awesome this is going to probably answer a lot of other things that may not quite make sense either so thank you again for your time and I'm sorry to be so long when did I apologize have a great evening or rest of your day morning night noon wherever it is you're at LOL
great video~! wish it was in HD :D Thanks anyway :3
+Jeremy Expresso Have you clicked the gear and changed the quality? I'm able to put it at 720HD :)
I quite like idea behind the deck and particular cards, artwork is gorgeous, and I adore it's bordelessness and small title emblem, the only thing I'm not fond of is putting the artefacts in those cards, sometimes it's not that bad (5 of pentacles) but some are... hmmmm... like ten of swords... really? out of the f-ing blue ten swords chilling on a roof of Paris tenement with one of them piercing pigeon? And obviously we have plague of golden chalices around coasts, in rivers, in meadows standing in perfect pyramids. Tons of plastic bags, oil spills, electronic waste, that is nothing, we need to act fast on pollution with sharp swords, golden pentacles and chalices. OK, I'm done. LOL But really, artwork is so beautiful, whole deck so thought out and seems deep, do we really need all those things in them? :)
+Where Alders Whisper LOL well I can understand your feelings on that, I guess there are so many decks with random pentacles and cups and wands and swords laying around that they don't really bother me as they are symbolic :D
***** Generally it doesn't bother me, but here all depictions are so natural, in respective environments, even with deeper studies of animal behaviour, that's why I think it'd be fantastic without all that additional things. For now it's on my pre-wishlist, so it's not that I hate it. :)
+Where Alders Whisper :D I know, I just like to harass you because I can! It just gave me the giggles because I thought of all the decks I own with randomly appearing cups, coins, swords and wands :D
+Where Alders Whisper When I'm out in nature, I find random cups, swords, wands and pentacles here and there. Bart you seem to be going on walks in the wrong areas :)
großartiges Video - Ich wünschte, sowas gäbe es in deutscher Sprache
I adore this deck! But I'm with u Kelly, the cardstock stinks. I do ruffle shuffle like u, so maybe that's why we agree on liking that thinner stock. But I have to say that I'll be disappointed if they continue to use this new stock.
+Ashley Hartsel I'll give you an Amen on that, I do hope they don't continue to use this O.o
...when do you possibly have time to read through all those books for reviews with all you have going on? Ive never made it through any of my tarot books that come with the decks...i skip here and there, but never make it through the whole thing...(legacy of the divine is the one exception), then a new deck/book comes along.
I'm a very fast reader lol, my degrees are in Literature. I don't always deep read (taking notes and underlining and etc) them all, it depends on the guidebook, but THIS one is worth a good read I think :)
Wild unknown spirit deck and tarot has some terrible cardstock, it's a great deck but nobody seems to complain about that one strangely enough haha
Sigh. I really dislike those Llewellyn boxes. I don't need the book, either. I wish they would just sell the deck by itself. Either that, or a small booklet and the cards in a box with lid.
Peacock looked like an ostrich to me........
what a moany start to a review. urrgh.
Thank you Kelly. Stunning deck. On the wishlist it goes
I am REALLY happy with how this one reads!!
I received this deck on Friday but just now had a chance to go through it. It was fun to go through the deck while watching your video!
