What a beautiful town, the Church is breathtaking, the views from the castle, the ruins...
How nice to have Dad and Val visiting you. You still got a lot done. Work is never ending in a farm. But it has the feel of a true home.

I remember as a kid seeing the pigs escape on our smallholding. If their snout fitted through a gap they assumed the rest would so just kept going.

Spring is my favourite time of year.
Tulips do not originate from the Netherlands. They firstly originated from the Himalaya area and then from Turkey.
The Turkish Tulip was first a wildflower that emerged as early as 1000 AD.
I always thought that they originated from the Netherlands due to the song my Grandmother used to sing "Tulips from Amsterdam"

If you hang the herb net at a sunny place, the herbs will loose all their vitamines etc.. It has to be a dry shaddy place ... usually under the roof top or a room north side ...

We have a lot of broom here in the more sandy parts of Denmark. It is widely regarded as invasive. Only good part is that it is a great nitrogen fixer for trees among it.
Mulberry pollards well and will make great fodder for your goats, if you choose to do so

I am unsure if broom is problematic where you are? Where you stood the patch looks large. Here in Canada, it was brought in by Scottish settlers. It is classified as an invasive species to the detriment of native plants. Many volunteers are out annually removing it. It will never be eradicated. Touch a ripe seed head and it explodes, speading seed. For a yellow Spring bloom, a Forsythia shrub is beautiful.

For us, they are easier to work on, pets and farm animals can't ruin what you have planted. Easier to control nutrients, easier to mulch and you can pack much more produce in so you get less weeds
