Today I'm going to attempt to solve the Hardest 9 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle on the planet. This is a creation by Carl Hoff. Goal: Pack the nine assemblies, each consisting of six hazmat drums, onto the barge, an 11 by 11 array, such that no two assemblies touch, not even at a corner. (Any contact could lead to cross contamination, resulting in unwanted chemical or nuclear reactions.)

Trust me. I know it looks like some pieces can fit but they just don’t. This is without a doubt the hardest jigsaw puzzle I’ve ever tackled. Send me good vibes
You got this chris
You r the best CZcamsr
Good vibe train lets do it 👌👍
Just breath. 😉🤣
Do they fit on the board giagonally? Just thinking. Keep up the good work!
Its 2021 and I'm still waiting for part 2!
Me too!

That’s what she said.
His intros sometimes tell me solving puzzles ain't his job
Hey Chris, are we going to see a follow up to this video? It’s driving my boyfriend and I crazy, we are dying to see the solution.
Legend has it, that he’s still trying to solve this puzzle to this day.
still waiting for part 2
Even with 2 hints and 4 months
Is there really still not a part 2
@@robbiefine1466 nope
7 months later I dont see a part 2

“Mom, can we have Tetris?”
“We already have Tetris at home.”

This ones actually funny lol
Actually they are version of tetraminos, called hexaminos and it old Russian puzzle but weary modified.
@@sahemali2204 I actually have that
He should've said, "oh, the timer." He then gets a calendar.
Can we take a second to admire Chris's intros? They're always on theme and well made.

The squirrel: REEEEEEEEEE
Love them🤩
To be honest, I would love if he made a second channel of extended intros/B-roll or even just added them to this channel sorta like trailer to upcoming videos or just supplementary videos. 😍 The footage is just so amazing!
The videography is incredible.
i just always skip the intros :P
I feel like the hint confused me more than the puzzle did😂
Accuracy 10000
Imagine that the pieces are "walls" and the gaps between the pieces are a "path through a maze". The original solver asked if that path would always be of equal width. That is to say, if you were walking along the hallways of the maze, would the walls on either side of you always be the same distance away. The answer is no. In exactly three cases the hallways that you are walking through will open into a 2x2 room. This 2x2 room corresponds to four circles in a square shape in the puzzle.
So, translating this back to the puzzle, the hint says that there will be three places where no piece touches the middle of a small 2x2 square cluster of circles. And furthermore none of those 2x2 clusters are adjacent. This hint can be used to verify placement, especially as more pieces are placed.

@@rolfbuchner3991 Great explanation man! It helped a lot. Keep doing this stuff!
@@rolfbuchner3991 Thanks, that made more sense to me.
I'm going to admit - I always thought "well he is only showing us the ones he's solved, not the ones he can't". I'm now satisfied for two reasons. Love the vids.
Think about this for a sec, he probably spends a lot of money to get the intro done alone, then he has to pay for the puzzles witch are usually pretty expensive. No I’m not just focusing on how much money he spends, but I am focusing on the fact that he does all this to make us happy. That showed me that there is actually quite a bit of good left in this crumbling planet, and that there is still hope. I have watched your channel for quite a bit now and this is probably the best channel I will ever see on CZcams. Chris your amazing and will always be my hero.❤️
Title: 0.0003% chance of solving.
Me: **Excalibur-flasbacks**
That 0.0003% figure I believe is coming from Table 2 in this paper: www.gathering4gardner.org/g4g13gift/puzzles/HoffCarl-GiftExchange-FromUntouchable11toHazmatCargo-G4G13.pdf It simply means of the 21 choose 9 or 293,930 9-piece puzzles that I checked on this 11x11 board, only 1 had a single solution. The other 293,929 had multiple solutions.
You should do a video where you show us the puzzles you haven't solved. It could be a series? Where you solve them? I don't know. Anyway, nice video.
Been meaning to...
@@ChrisRamsay52... Because it requires solving them? :0
RedKB did that once, he went back to some of the twisty puzzles which had defeated him before and tried to tackle them.
yessssssssss I heard there were half a dozen he can't solve and that's all I've been thinking about!
The series could be "Chris nightmare" XD
It almost hurts how hesitant Chris was about filming it at home. You dont need to explain yourself to us man, dw. It's a major part of tbe process that should be seen. Thanks for showing it
Oh hey, this was made by my father-in-law 😂 Watching him make it was SUPER cool, and he’s really talented. My husband loves to test his stuff and he’s got a CZcams channel where he posts new projects!
holy shit really???
Dang Chris hasn’t forgotten the timer in a long while. Progress!
He probably forgot it on xD
He did forgot to show it in the last one
Watch him forget in the next puzzle video he does 👀
He should bring back the iphone timer
Hi, Chris.
Have a question.
So all of intro's to puzzles are your ideas ??
Cause are very good and professional. Good job for u and your Team 🔥💪🏻
We usually take some time as a team to jam about what the intro is going to be. It’s one of my favourite things to do. The creative process is so rewarding
Chris Ramsay I loved the intro on the video about The Weeknd’s playing cards. You’re seriously talented brother
@@ChrisRamsay52 Props to you and all the team, your intros are amazing.
@@ChrisRamsay52 I would love to see a video about making an intro and sharing some videography tips!!

We finally did it Bois! Congrats, Wes!
Hopefully part 2 is almost here. Wishing you best of luck solving it. Been waiting for part 2 the solve
So who else only now realizing that he doesnt record at home?
like this whole time ii thought all the vids he recorded was from home but he jus....think he blew my mind more than the puzzle
It's actually 50% solve rate. Either you solve it, or you don't.

Hi Chris, the way you solve some puzzles so quickly, having one that challenges you legitimately is refreshing. Thanks for breaking it up into two parts. Appears you put a lot of work into it. Looking forward to the solution. And, nice intro.
Your video filming, quality and editing is 2nd to none here on CZcams. I enjoy every single video of yours! Thanks for the time you put in to making such great videos. Your intros are just great & entertaining and your puzzle solving talent is truly impressive! Keep it up...
“This cross piece is unforgiving”
That’s ironic lol
Jesus found it to be very true AFAIK.
The intro is SHERE PERFECTION I absolutely love your videos and you put so much work and time in everything and I love it so much

Hey Chris if you see this I want you to know you are a big inspiration to me and I want to start making my own puzzle videos. The day I’m typing this two puzzles are on the way to my home and I can’t explain how much of an influence you are. Thank you so much!
I LOVE the simplicity and complexity mix with this one. One of my favs so far! Would love to have this!
I know they're hazmat symbols, but sometimes they look like little skulls.
So I'm not the only one😂
I'm always looking at them and they looks to me like suprised Jack Skellington :D
OMG I see screaming pandas 😅
Sally Avorthep same lol
I kept thinking same as well, blamed being stoned🤣😂🤣
Now I know why Chris really wanted to upload this even after not solving yet...
That intro was INSANE !!

The first youtuber to not clickbait the chance of something happening! Thank you. Btw, great vid!
We need a second video for this ASAP. This was such a dope intro I have to see you solve this especially since you have received a clue
One thing to note about puzzles like these, each piece has 8 states. Front up, front down, front left, front right, back up, back down, back left, back right.
Only two of the nine pieces to this puzzle are symmetrical, meaning that the front and back are the same. Always save these for last, since there is less randomness in those pieces.
The goal of this puzzle is to eliminate randomness in the pieces, finding a neat start does this. Find three or four pieces that fit together nicely along one of the walls, and work from there.
I hope these tips can help anyone trying to solve a puzzle like this, or solve this very puzzle. Good luck!
Wow. 👏
Props to you for figuring this out
Jondiepie 0 sounds like you made the thing! Lol Props
Wait, 2 symmetrical pieces? What is there other than the t piece?
Nicholas Plaksin well the cross
Your intros are fantastic, Chris, oh my god. I could watch just the intros to your videos ALONE all day. I've never watched an intro I hadn't been impressed with. You keep setting the bar higher, and you keep outdoing yourself. Good work.
I don't and wont watch Mr Puzzle because i'm loyal to you and i know you are very patient and respectful. I love to watch how you solve these puzzles with a calm demeanour ... i will never follow anyone else . i found your channel first and got stuck in it .. I am like that i am loyal to the friends i have and do anything for them and i will only be loyal to you my dear .. you are the amazing one to me Chris. One day i hope to meet you i'm not bothered in meeting any other puzzle solver/card tricks genius. You are the bizz. Can't wait for part 2 ... don't feel too defeated sweety if you have the opportunity to get a hint then always go for it at times we all need help in what we do its nothing to feel defeated about .. someone else wanted help with this but i'm sure more didn't really solve it yet. I will be there as usual in part 2 ..
I genuinely enjoyed the at home edition

I have a question, you could say the pieces have a vertical or horizontal orientation, is it possible that at least one of them fits diagonally?
That’s something I’ve explored but alas no. Good thinking though
√2 ≠ 1
Has to be the cross, has to be
@@GregoMorganBut there are plenty of Pythagorean triples that would fit within that grid
gregory morgan emm sorry could u repeat that in full explanation bc I am a dum dum
It's was satisfying to hear you mention Mr. Puzzle! You two are the only puzzle channels I watch, can't wait to see his take on this puzzle.. he's so logically inclined.
I liked the taking it home part. It shows it doesn't take a lot of equipment to still make an amazing video.
What a great intro! Sorry that you didn't solve it today, but you'll get it soon! Best of luck!
Trust me that intro was insanely good so much "foreplay" to the actual puzzle super creative
Hey Chris, I just solved this puzzle tonight! I watched this video about a month. I liked the puzzle so much that I made my own copy using PowerPoint. Then after 3 weeks playing at my computer, moving around and flipping the pieces, and over 10 versions just having one touching point between pieces, I finally made it! Such a great puzzle! Looking forward to your part two video of this puzzle!
Chris I really just wanna thank you so much for all your videos, you have inspired me to get into puzzles I started off with jigsaw puzzle but now I wanna start getting into puzzle boxes and what not, I’m unwell and I need to do what I can to keep my mind busy and this is just what I needed, keep it up dude
The algorithmic challenge to this puzzle is a great one to enter into a computer. I love this puzzle! Great intro! Thanks once again Master Puzzler, The Great Chris Ramsay!
The biohazard symbols start to look like Jack Skellington after a while.

I actually bought my first set of cards because I have been watching your videos! I love your work and you seem like you have a very wholesome personality which I also love! Can't wait to watch more video and learn from you
Seriously, I want a playlist of all your puzzle solving songs.
Haven't even started the video and I'm already excited. That title! Chris Ramsay rule: If it's uploaded, it's solved. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Edit: I was wrong 🥺🥺
Ha!
There are a couple times he hasn't solved a puzzle and still made a video.
I like the size of the pieces. Looks very satisfying to pick up and place.
Great intro definitely one of your best!! Longest puzzle solve yet, 5 hours!!!
dude...I actually like the audio and lighting when he went to his house no joke
Anyone else here 6 months later looking for part two?
Me!
9 months and still not solved
Came back looking for part two still not here......
The audio and video were still a lot better then most of the videos that are on CZcams! Great work, keep up the awesome content!
This was awesome watching you solve outside like this It would be great if you would do more videos like this.
Am I the only one that sees Jack Skellington over and over again instead of the hazmat symbol? No? Just me? Lol
I'm honestly trying to see it and I just ca--oh my goooood!!! 🤯💀
(That was literally my train of thought as I was looking at it, I promise I'm not just being dramatic lmao)
Yesss!! Glad someone else saw this!

i'd love to try solving a puzzle like this or the excalibur, something about that 1 single solution to me is so cool
IS THERE A Part two yet I’m so invested
I enjoyed watching you work from home. It made things different, the sound is still good and the camera angle is also something new. Looks like a really nice place you got there.
So is there no 2nd part to this?
I literally only subscribed for part 2 of this.. kinda mad if it doesnt get uploaded in the next weeks
@@ervins775 he has a lot of other cool puzzles to watch. I am a big supporter of him but I just can't wait anymore for the Hazmat part 2

I love how chris is allways motivated to push thru every puzzle with hard dedication and willpower he never gives up no matter how hard this puzzle or situation getts thats determination love it
Dude i swear your intros get more and more elaborate, love it! Now im gonna watch the video! ^^
Try solving it in a spiral, that piece hes shown could just be the start of it.
chris be like: the hint makes perfect sense
me be like: say what
But I understand.
Excited for the part two. Good Luck Chris.
I have watched you do many different styles of puzzles but I do have to admit this one is very impressive :)
Chris: **solving puzzles like this**
While me on the other hand: **can't solve a simple jigsaw children's puzzle**
That reminds me of the meme of DT holding up a puzzle he solved in just one week while the package says 3-4 years.
Nooooooo I need to see more! Chris c'mon putting this video up as a cliffhanger is an unsolvable puzzle in itself!
These puzzle videos are the best to watch while high. Mind blown!!
That intro was SICK. This puzzle was awesome...and as usual, awesome content!
I’m literally just sitting here looking at the pieces like “hehe they look like they screaming”. How much more smol brain can you get XD
woke up, saw this shit and was like... "IM UP"
love your videos man, wish I met you when u were in Bermuda!
The titles for videos these days are outstanding
Honestly the themed intros just so set the mood for the puzzles and honestly they're awesome quality
When is part 2?
Hey Chris any updates on a solve video been driving me crazy lol
Love this intro and totally get your frustration with this puzzle, but fingers crossed you solve it, if only for your sanity.
I think I like this one more, because it feels like we see more into it, the process and everything, what you go through, etc. The short puzzles get me, I do not like them, when you make more little puzzles it's ok-ish, but this one is like a trip, like a journey and I cannot wait for the second half! :)
Chris is the only person on CZcams who pronounce "et cetera" correct.
This into got me feeling like I'm on some kind of Psychedelic drug lol
IKR. Lol
Hehe 🤓
I can't believe I like puzzles because of you. I found your channel by accident, first video I saw was of you solving the 10000$ puzzle. From that point on I slowly got hooked. 3 days ago I went and bought 6 hanayama puzzles, half of them level 9 and the other half level 10. I intentionally wanted them to be difficult so I can spend as much as time as possible on a puzzle. Cast Radix for example took me around 6 hours.
Anyways, I just really wanted to say Thank You.
This video was just... great. I don't know if it was the mix of different scenes, or vibes, in the video, or something else. But I liked it a lot. Where's the double like button!?
this has to be the coolest puzzle I have ever seen
Thank you SO much!
Can you PLEASE MAKE PART 2 I’ve been waiting to long!
He can’t make part two if he hasnt solved it yet lol
Amazing effort. Great intro as always, almost need to make a mix video just of your cool intros. Plus, bonus tour of your back yard!
these intros are on another level my dude...very impressed. From the music to the visuals...its very intriguing! great video as always!!!
As a nerd, I would imagine that this is solvable through math by calculating the circles occupied by each piece and their edges and the amount calculated has to be compared with the existing number of holes on the board and then you build up on that logic.
Apparently took a computer 24 days to solve this
@@ChrisRamsay52 Holy crap
Hmmm looks like brute force is the only way for a computer to solve it.
@@drydVM Brute force is the only thing computer have, it is not very familiar to logic
+[Vedran Bilosnic]
That would depend greatly, actually. There are plenty of computer programs that make use of logic, but especially this is true within the realm of Artificial Intelligence, as those are programs that write *_their own_* logic. _[Or, well..... more specifically, they have a "helper program" to go alongside them that basically rewrites the AI program over and over again until it has good enough logic to solve the given problem.]_
Chris explaining the puzzle: Do you understand what I'm saying
Me aloud: Yea
My cat: meow?
This channel has the best quality of all my 140 subscriptions. Crisp Chris💯
Intro was actually insane , was legit thinking to myself how much effort u put into videos and it definitely shows , well done bro
This is the sort of thing where you solve it, take a photo, glue the pieces to the board, and then hang it up on the wall.
Chris took a whole day to realise that he is playing around with the wrong approach.. I was wondering how to tell him on the video.. Bro No.. 😋😁😁
Chris, did you ever figure it out? You shouldn't let it bother you if you didn't. You are incredibly talented. Good luck!
Stoked for part two.
Next part?
