Very much a misrepresentation of events. Certainly not a Nazi putsch. Maidan was triggered by the statement of intent to obtain a loan from Russia and move into their orbit once more. This is not what Ukrainians wanted. THey didn't fight for Nazism, they fought for their independence and autonomy. This was reflected in the voting in the most recent election where the right wing only got 2% of the vote. This is not a war against fascism. It's a war for survival against an invading Russian army. Yanukovych made a choice not to ask the people what they wanted. Russia doesn't care what they want. Russia just wants death. I think the failure to secure the vote is important though.

Keep posting this documentary every time it’s taken down. Regardless of what is true or not, Ukraine on Fire is the most comprehensive alternative take on the Maiden Revolution and the relations between Russia, Ukraine and the USA. And that will forever make it important for dialogue.
I agree it's important to air different perspectives, but we also need to be aware that this is a very one-sided view of history. The documentary would be a better tool for dialogue if it explored different perspectives, rather than just accept the Russian government's perspective on the topic.
I've watched many documentaries about this never-ending hatred Washington has with Russia. And even though this focuses on Ukraine, it's clear as mud who is the instigator in all world drama is. It briefly mentioned that Vladimir Putin warned George Bush of impending terrorist attacks that could come to America from the likes of Al Queda, Isis and Hezbollah and outlined ways to tighten national security standards. Exactly, when people don't understand how they are manipulated by the Western media, they just have to take a look at the newspapers of the time on CNN, The Washington Post, Fox, etc. When it was the Maidan fascists killing people in the Odessa union and in Kiev, the Western media called them "protesters and students", to give an idea of a legitimate and democratic revolution, even though it was a coup d'état. But look closely at the change of narrative in the Western media when the people of Odessa and Crimea called for the annexation of Crimea to Russia and separatism from Ukraine, the Western media quickly called them "terrorists". This is how most Americans and Europeans are manipulated and deceived every day when they turn on the TV and read the newspapers. Anyway, I just feel immense sadness because they have such a terrorist, corrupt, imperialist and fascist government and they don't even know it, but outside American borders, the world knows who they really are.

Crimea and Sevastopol voted 54% to remain as part of Ukraine in 1991. The 2014 referendum is illegitimate due to being caused after invasion. Russian soldiers blocked Ukrainian military bases and prevented soldiers from leaving their posts, which is a violation on the rules of holding a plebiscite. The numbers Russia claims for joining are impossible because there weren't even that many voters due to Tatar boycotts.

Almost everyone interviewed is on the Russian side of the fence and talks from Russian point of view. Oliver Stone should have at least attempted to get more balanced perspectives of what he described as a complex issue. The film makes some very serious allegations without shred of evidence. This gives it credibility of a facebook post. OS is diminished by such a weak and naïve portrayal.

There was no independent country called Ukr or whatever until Ukraine was first proclaimed in November 1917, after the October Revolution in Russian Empire. Crimea was given for free to Ukr Soviet republick from Russian Soviet republick because it was Soviet Union was big one country and nobody expected it to fall. Annexation of the Crimean Khanate by the Russian Empire was in 1783. From this time there was Russian naval base created. Always study theory first.

Finally watched some realistic documentary with a true story behind it. I would like for Oliver Stone to do a documentary about how Yugoslavia broke apart. He can check some of the documentaries already made like "The weight of chains 1 and 2". There's also a documentary about Kosovo called "Kosovo, can you imagine" and "Kosovo, a moment in civilization". Great movies. I recommend everyone to watch these since this was the US training ground. The resistance group "Otpor" from Serbia basically branded themselves and spread their ideas of how to do protests, violence, taking down presidents,...across the world. Their mark is in every protest happened in Ukraine from the year 2000 to now. They are training opposition.

I do not support sending weapons to Ukraine in the slightest. I know that America pushed Ukrainie in war with lies and deception to weaken both EU and Russia. I know that Russia had to respond to provocations and that Ukrainian n@zies were attacking Russian minority in Ukraine. I just hate one sided reporting and hope that war end soon with as few casualties as possible.

The documentary never said Putin was the good guy or that Russia’s government is all sunshine and roses; the director and journalists interviewed him and Yanukovich as well as others simply to give Americans a chance to hear the other side of the story. You will never find a war or geopolitical conflict where one side is entirely innocent.

This documentary begins by conveniently skips over all the terrible Soviet atrocities committed against the Ukrainians during Stalin's rule. Which begs the question: what else does Oliver Stone conveniently ignore? Clearly, he has decided to take the Russian view of history as irrefutable fact. While there are points raised that are no doubt important - and too often ignored in Western media - that doesn't mean this is a balanced view of the history of Ukraine and how things came to be where they are today. A true truth-seeking documentary maker will balance the views from both the Western and Russian perspective. And seek to get to the bottom of some of the nuances and complexities around it. Instead, Oliver Stone, invests fully into the Russian view of history and therefore creates a very effective piece of Russian propaganda.
Soo much false information in this video its hard to begin. One is when the so-called Crimean vote to join Russia was described, there was NEVER any mention of the thousands of Russian soldiers "Little Green Men" who INVADED and held the vote under gunpoint., and themselves counted the votes. If that vote were held today, with the 9 years of political persecution of Crimean dissenters like Tatars, and the degraded quality of life in Crimea, a vast majority would likely vote to leave Russia forever and re-join Ukraine.

Very much a misrepresentation of events. Certainly not a Nazi putsch. Maidan was triggered by the statement of intent to obtain a loan from Russia and move into their orbit once more. This is not what Ukrainians wanted. THey didn't fight for Nazism, they fought for their independence and autonomy. This was reflected in the voting in the most recent election where the right wing only got 2% of the vote. This is not a war against fascism. It's a war for survival against an invading Russian army. Yanukovych made a choice not to ask the people what they wanted. Russia doesn't care what they want. Russia just wants death. I think the failure to secure the vote is important though.

I agree it's important to air different perspectives, but we also need to be aware that this is a very one-sided view of history. The documentary would be a better tool for dialogue if it explored different perspectives, rather than just accept the Russian government's perspective on the topic.

Oliver Stone should have at least attempted to get more balanced perspectives of what he described as a complex issue. The film makes some very serious allegations without shred of evidence. There was no independent country called Ukr or whatever until Ukraine was first proclaimed in November 1917, after the October Revolution in Russian Empire. Crimea was given for free to Ukr Soviet republick from Russian Soviet republick because it was Soviet Union was big one country and nobody expected it to fall. Finally watched some realistic documentary with a true story behind it. I would like for Oliver Stone to do a documentary about how Yugoslavia broke apart. He can check some of the documentaries already made like "The weight of chains 1 and 2". There's also a documentary about Kosovo called "Kosovo, can you imagine" and "Kosovo, a moment in civilization". Great movies. I recommend everyone to watch these since this was the US training ground. The resistance group "Otpor" from Serbia basically branded themselves and spread their ideas of how to do protests, violence, taking down presidents,...across the world. Their mark is in every protest happened in Ukraine from the year 2000 to now. They are training opposition.

I do not support sending weapons to Ukraine in the slightest. I know that America pushed Ukrainie in war with lies and deception to weaken both EU and Russia. I know that Russia had to respond to provocations and that Ukrainian n@zies were attacking Russian minority in Ukraine. The documentary never said Putin was the good guy or that Russia’s government is all sunshine and roses; the director and journalists interviewed him and Yanukovich as well as others simply to give Americans a chance to hear the other side of the story. You will never find a war or geopolitical conflict where one side is entirely innocent.

This documentary begins by conveniently skips over all the terrible Soviet atrocities committed against the Ukrainians during Stalin's rule. Which begs the question: what else does Oliver Stone conveniently ignore? Clearly, he has decided to take the Russian view of history as irrefutable fact.
While there are points raised that are no doubt important - and too often ignored in Western media - that doesn't mean this is a balanced view of the history of Ukraine and how things came to be where they are today.
A true truth-seeking documentary maker will balance the views from both the Western and Russian perspective. And seek to get to the bottom of some of the nuances and complexities around it. Instead, Oliver Stone, invests fully into the Russian view of history and therefore creates a very effective piece of Russian propaganda.

One is when the so-called Crimean vote to join Russia was described, there was NEVER any mention of the thousands of Russian soldiers "Little Green Men" who INVADED and held the vote under gunpoint., and themselves counted the votes. If that vote were held today, with the 9 years of political persecution of Crimean dissenters like Tatars, and the degraded quality of life in Crimea, a vast majority would likely vote to leave Russia forever and re-join Ukraine.
