Amazing video! Thank you
haha he did!! Got right back up though.
đ
Wish I was out exploring the back roads today. Instead I'm stuck at home doing housework. Good video!
Thank you! thought we'd put something together that people can play in the background and enjoy a compilation. We're working on Season 3 ;)
Awesome compilation! I could put this on an endless loop and watch all day ha ha! Fun stuff !
Thanks for watching! It was lots of fun to put together, Iâm glad you enjoyed ot
4th gen gang! đ¤đź best gen
Hell yeah đĽ
The 4runners are amazing, and i usually HATE the soundtracks people use...BUT...the music is excellent! Great job!
Thanks for watching! Soundtracks and the music can be tricky! Itâs tough aligning music in a way that the most amount of folks would enjoy, so glad you liked it
Awesome compilation of all your adventures guys. To more adventures in the future đđ˝
Thanks man!
Love the huge vid! You don't realise the memories until you turn them into a video!
Thanks buddy!
Good job on the video. The more I watch BC overland videos the more I want to come down to BC to wheel and explore again. Can't wait for nextvyear
Thanks Misha! You def should !!
Looking forward to some winter exploration trips from the CO crew.
Absolutely!! Weâre working on Season 3 right now ;)
Man awesome too see 4th gens out there doing it as good of not better than the newer gens man wish I lived closer I'd join I just did a walk around video of my truck didn't go into much detail on my mechanical parts would have taken too long
Thanks for watching! I checked out your walk-around as well. The shelf-system is sweet! I am planning on getting a fridge in the back as well, just haven't decided the full battery system yet though. Will do another walk-around if/when I hook all that up.
@@CascadiaOverlandCrew sweet I watched your video on your rear bumper so I did one on mine I literally just posted it I'm super impressed with the victory 4x4 rear bumper I have but they sure are proud of them but it's a one time purchase
Nice đ
Thanks!
Ok I have to say I watch a ton of off road and overland videos on hereâŚ.. when someone just puts music to their video and no sound of the vehicles I usually cringe and shut it off immediately âŚ. However I donât know if itâs the music choice or the top shelf video and the scenery but this is probably one of my favourite off road vids Iâve watched 4 runners look awesome some of the shots with the drone were amazing some of the nicest trails Iâve seen âŚseriously well done thanks for sharing it definitely for yourself a new subscriber đđťđ¤đťđ¤đť
Wow thanks! đşđ¤ our videos usually have dialogue and narration but figured it was time for a compilation
Looking to buy another 4th gen 4Runner tomorrow. Hopefully all goes well and Iâll secure it, video has my hopes up đ
Fingers crossed!! It's become harder to find affordable ones these days so I hope you get one you fall in love with.
I'm thinking about picking up a 4runner and you just showed me the perfect spot to place a light bar. It's like these cars were made for it lol.
Haha glad I could help. Good luck on your search, donât get something rusty!
@@CascadiaOverlandCrew Thanks. Oh I live in northern Florida, rust is like a non issue here lol. My main concern is all the head gasket issues the 03-05 I'm hearing about.
@@Jedi_Luke just get headers
@@zTHyperion what do exhaust headers have to do with a cylinder head gasket that fails prematurely??
The guy who flew off his bike in the back......
Haha he was ok!
great compilation video, what tire chains are those at 20:35 and how are they working out
Thanks mike, those were just cheap canadian tire chains we had lying around. I thought about spending money on some v-bars now that we have bigger tires and wheels but haven't done so yet - perhaps when the snow gets crazy we will think about it again!
Iâm looking to get a 4th Gen 4Runner and then build it up for off road. Letâs say you were trying to come in for 15k all said and done for vehicle and upgrades, which 4th Gen would you use for the base vehicle? Iâm thinking a V8 but canât decide if thereâs a particular year/trim thatâs best to start with
I like the power of the V8 personally, having put a metal rear bumper, rock sliders, and all the camping equipment in there for long-term camping. However, I honestly think the best one would be one that comes with extensive service records and little to no rust. Rust is a huge issue for these so if youâre able to find a V6 thatâs good itâs better than a V8 thatâs questionable. I personally wouldnât worry too much about a V8 engine unless youâre planning to tow so long as you find a well maintained vehicle.
Do you mind telling me whatâs the name of the company that made your front bull guard type bumper? Trying to put the same one of my 4th gen 4Runner .
One of the vehicles shown has an ARB bumper. Another 4Runner has a coastal Offroad bumper.
I see two of you are running stock rims (as am I!)
What size tires are you all running?
Hi Martyn, youâll notice toward the end of the video (and in season 2 of our show) our vehicles have change a ton! At the start of the video, the silver 4runner had stock size wheels and tires with only a 0.75â lift using bilstien 5100 shocks (with the clip to make the suspension higher). So the tires were 265/65/17 at that time.
Now: both the silver and grey 4runner are running 285/70/17 with a 3â lift, and 17â wheels with 0 offset. We only added things to the vehicles we really thought necessary, and imo the lift and bigger tires have been definitely worth it!
The silver one with the front ARB bumper was running 270/70/17 at the start of the video and still is today.
@@CascadiaOverlandCrew Can you elaborate a little more on the lift? I'm looking at lifting my 4th gen for overlanding. Any tips or suggestions?
â@@FerdinandUribe sure! so the silver one is a V8 (mine), I got Old Man Emu 2886 and 2896 coils to give it aprx. 3" lift. These are heavy duty coils used for putting on bumpers, so I have a rear bumper on there which helps make it cushier. The heavy V8 also compensates in the front. If you have a V6 I would suggest getting 2885/2895 OME coils. OME is a sub-company of ARB so they're trustworthy and tried and tested.
The grey one is a V6 and he got toytec coils to provide aprx. 3" lift with no bumpers. They're about the same price as OME but I think OME is easier to find. I would trust Toytec pretty much as much as OME since the toytec coils are actually made by Eibach.
Then you should get new adjustable upper control arms, we both got SPC upper control arms and in my opinion there's no better option. We also both have bilstein 5100 shocks, if I had a redo, I would get Old Man Emu shocks.
My biggest tip is to use Liquid Wrench and spray every nut/bolt every day for at least 1 week before attempting to do this because they will be hard to get off. Liquid Wrench every day will loosen them up and help a TON. Second suggestion is to make sure you have an impact wrench to use and all your batteries are charged. The stronger the impact wrench the better.
I then suggest 285/70/17 tires, this required minimal cutting and chopping and provides the most surface area.
@@CascadiaOverlandCrew Awesome, thanks! Im thinking of going the Bilstien 6112 route although IDK if that will give me the full 3". Out the door for just suspension what was your total? I will probably have them put in by my mechanic as I dont normally do that stuff myself anymore. Anyway thanks, and you got yourself a sub m8.
Thanks for the sub!
I believe youâll have to use the clips on the shocks to lift the vehicle, so I would consider just using lift springs instead of using the clips if youâre going offroading. Either way, chat with your mechanic and they can suggest a good route for you to go - I personally donât think thereâs a huge cost difference in just buying lift coils!
Were these 4Runners 2WD or 4WD?
2WD 4Runners don't exist in Canada - they're all 4WD.
Have you ever had problems with your brake calipers getting seized up after driving it through the mud or water ?
Yepp, I've only had a couple of pistons seize on me so not a big deal and a fairly quick and cheap fix. I know others who have had theirs seized too but again, rarely, and easy to fix.
@@CascadiaOverlandCrew I Hardly ever take mine off routing and this is the second time Iâve done so where my caliper is seized up again đ¤Śđťââď¸, what solution have you found?
@@romerocarlos1992 thatâs unusual. As you can see, we go lots (at least once a month) and donât really have this problem other than a couple of times over the years which is to be expected. To go out twice and have the issue happen twice doesnât sound right. Not sure what brand of caliper youâre buying but perhaps try a different brand? Do ones you buy not have any warranty, Iâd be reaching out to the manufacturer and grilling them on it.
@@CascadiaOverlandCrew yeah So you can feel my frustration đ¤ lol I bought Power Stop supposedly the better brand. Theyâre still under warranty
Looks like someone needs to buy a winch. Lol
haha didn't get stuck ;)
@@CascadiaOverlandCrew well, one of the rigs needed to be winched out, but didnât have one.
@@pdx_painter in the mud? We pulled him out w/ a strap. I donât see the issue here. 0 problems đ¤Łđ¤
@@CascadiaOverlandCrew thatâs one of the reasons i donât do any serious wheeling with my gen 3 4Runner yet, no winch. I take my YJ if thereâs even a remote possibility of getting to technical. Saving for a bumper and winch now.
@@pdx_painter not a bad idea, weâve thought about getting a front bumper and winch but then decided we go out in pairs usually anyways and when we go out alone we try to keep things tame. Winch is definitely a good idea though!
