Welcome to my short review of the Kakuranger 5 Set Mini [カクレンジャー5セット ミニ] from Ninja Sentai Kakuranger [忍者戦隊カクレンジャー]!
At this point there are very few Kakuranger toys that I haven't owned at some point in my life. Obviously I've always wanted a Kakuranger Ball and the Shark Machine Set, but this little set also eluded me for quite some time as well. I managed to spot this super-clean set recently for a pretty good price and snapped it up. Was it worth the years of waiting?
This set of 50mm/2inch figures contains...
01. Ninja Red ニンジャレッド
02. Ninja White ニンジャホワイト
03. Ninja Yellow ニンジャイエロー
04. Ninja Blue ニンジャブルー
05. Ninja Black ニンジャブラック
While light on accessories, each figure does have it's own Kakuremaru of varying shade of gold.
I actually am pretty impressed with a couple of features that this set has. For one, the painted details are great. There aren't any detailed skipped out of cheapness. The gloves and boots are painted all the way around and even the Kakulaser has some details. The sculpting is also very good--you can make out all of the fine details on their belts and in the Kakulaser. Articulation is also a win as a similar mini figure that was included in the Pladera Red Saruda doesn't have any despite the fact that the figure holds the Kakuremaru.
The only problems I really have with this set are that the Kakuremaru doesn't have any paint details or sheaths for some reason. Plus, I kinda wish this line was expanded on a bit further. How about a set of Dorodoros or Ninjaman...and even Hana no Kunoichi Gumi. I can over look the lack of further accessories since these figures are tiny and the more parts that exist, the more likely they are to go missing.
Was this set all it was cracked up to be? I enjoy it, but it didn't exceed my expectations in any way. I'm always happy to have a new Kakuranger toy in the collection, though, so that's enough for me to be excited. Yay!

They remind me of the little wind-up Kakuranger dolls that helped Tsuhuhime in her quest to awaken God Kark. I wonder if they used the same models. Although I do wonder why there wasn't a doll of her and only the male Kakurangers each got a doll. It's amazing how they were dolls and they became life-size.

No. The figures used in the episode were of the larger vinyl figure set.
...why would there be a wind-up of her? That would go against the point of the dolls in the first place.

Yep. These are much smaller, though. Made of rubber instead of vinyl.

So much for the idea of being "mini" figures. But they wouldn't have been able to have their weapons if they were too tiny I suppose?
