The New Forest turns NASTY - VANLIFE UK

  • Join us, Carol & Ken, as we take a trip to the New Forest in our Consort Nova Motorhome called Snoopy.
In this video, with a storm closing in we have to leave our park up to get out of the winds. The forest is so wet and, with roads partially flooded, we head to an open area we know to park safely. A blown fuse changes our plans and we have to move on again.
Back at the coast, a walk nearly ends in disaster as Ken takes a tumble. A comforting meal is called for to end the day!
The next day is Good Friday so traffic causes mayhem at our park up. We take a walk along the shingle spit to explore Hurst Castle and finish the day with one of Ken’s favourite meals.

Love watching you both… Ken, you have such a lovely soft, beautifully toned voice… have you considered narration for audiobooks etc? Carol, you seem to smile no end no matter the weather you seem to wake up full of joy with an anticipation for the adventures that await you both with another new day! Absolutely love these longer episodes, when we knocking it up to an hour lol?! My wife also (we’re a gay couple), has started asking me if there’s anymore ‘Carol & Ken’ videos on… we didn’t used to tune in to emmerdale as much as you guys!! What great fun for you both, wind, rain and more wind, rain...!! Loved your stick blender idea, I have an older Moulinex one (even came with bracket to hang vertically - must find where it is) I got in Shropshire a few years ago. Can be used for so many, many things and firing moisture all around the place & over yourselves too!! Can also wizz up raw eggs for omelettes/tortillas, whip cream. etc.etc. Just remember to keep the angle & position correct!, not sure Carol would like an egg shampoo. Weather here too has been cool, overcast and damp around 7C daily, no gardening or lawns. The weather and situations you are now experiencing, must find you so chuffed with the Nova, go anywhere in any weather. Take care & stay safe. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜

When you said Carol was in the loo, with that storm raging, I assumed she was using the one in the van. But no. She's made of sterner stuff than me. :)
I have a hand blender like that, but mine is mostly metal and heavy as all heck for my old arthritic hands. I may trade my son for his cheap plastic one.
I'm surprised you didn't plug the Jackery or the phone into the 12 V socket whilst driving. If you needed navigation plugged in, there's adapters to make one into two or three. I have the three hole one with switches to turn off ones you don't need. It even has a 2 A USB on the plug that goes into the cigarette lighter 12 V socket, and I have a couple of other 12 V to USB plugs I can use.
I have a Bluetti EB70S power box to run my 12 V fridge/freezer (one at a time) and other things for minivan camping. :)
Will your new inverter be big enough to run an Instant Pot? I just made stew in mine and it was so delicious. In my house, not the van. My Bluetti is only 800 W.
    Cheers.

We had a derecho come through Oklahoma 2 days ago and cause a lot of damage. Storms are getting bad. I don’t remember any storms as a child in England but one time our ferry to France was cancelled due to Gail force winds. Your blender stick would be perfect for blending eggs. To make a soup come together you need a binding agent. 1 teaspoon of corn flour/starch mixed in 3T water, or 1T wheat flour mixed in 3T water but you have to temper it with a cup of soup in a separate bowl so it will not get lumpy, or 1/4 dried potato flakes straight in. I always put a small pinch of cayenne in my soups and it really does not bring heat but it does add something. However, I put garlic and onion in everything so people probably cannot taste any cayenne because of that, lol.

I really enjoy watching this channel and am full of admiration for what you do and the quality of the videos. We are retired and enjoy traveling but we don't have a motorhome. I don't suppose we ever will. Nevertheless I am fascinated by it and have concluded that it is really about food. Discussing where to stop to eat, finding somewhere to eat, rating the food at the cafes/restaurants, shopping for food, buying implements to cook with and cooking in the van. Perhaps travel is really about food rather than the scenery

And the mast thingys... well, they're called mast stays or shrouds and it's the wire of those shrouds that you hear screaming. Loved the video.. Many reasons to laugh. I know that area well as use to live there. Stormy seas always dramatic! Have you ever been to Brittany? It appears its very camper friendly and loads of interestingplacesto visit.

Hi Carol and Ken.Your new hand blender reminded me of my early soup making.Silly me forgot to turn the blender down and I ended up "wearing" the soup (tasted good though).Thank goodness you have quick reactions Ken.Nothing worse than losing a favourite hat and boy was it windy.Safe travels.See you on the next.

It's easy wattage of your appliance (w) W ÷ 12Vdc equals Amps. 😂 etc etc George

Except the maths are difficult to calculate when the blender in question is in the kitchen drawer at home 😂

@@LifeistooshortCK It doesn't change the maths when distance is applied. That's another formula used in the time and space continuum. George 🤣

Next time you are back down our way, try Pattersons butchers in Ringwood High Street. Best butcher made sausages and their pubs are delish too. In fact all their meats are scrummy and they even have a fishmongers next door.

Thank you both really enjoyed. Iv just done my camper van from scratch by my self learning so much from watching you as to what I really need . Think if I had my time over again I would run every thing off a 2.5 kw power bank with good solar , think it will save gas and you can get an air fryer well done good luck both 👍👍👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢

A lot of people are building around a good power bank these days. Simplifies everything. 👍

Funny watching this after our mini heatwave! Lovely meals and thanks for the driving tips: rain after a dry spell makes it slippery. Must get a small squeezy bottle for the oil, beats spray fry light! X

They are Tower Freedom pans. There is a link to them in our Amazon storefront in the video description.

I so enjoyed this. The fuse box in your van is so much easier to get at than mine!! This is one road I will not be visiting. I just simply won’t fit. Now you have given me the idea of the soup. Haven’t made in years . Thank goodness you caught your hat! I’d have to bring you another one!😉
