      Hi Gavin, great to hear from you. The scroll saw is a great addition. You will see second hand Hegner scroll saws regularly available on Ebay and you can get spare parts for pretty much everything from the hegner Web site. Getting the right blade and solid base is the key but you would enjoy working with it, It saves a lot of time compared to the coping saw. The finish is also better and far superior to a band saw. It is a key part to everything we do.
      Thank you again for sharing your work with us and for supporting our CZcams channel. We have had lots of positive feedback on your lovespoons and designs. I think it might become the first of a new playlist for our CZcams channel. Stay safe, all the best Dai 'lovespoons' Thomas.

    Nice video I have been scrolling since the early 80’s had several scroll saws over the years some pretty expensive none compares to my Hegner the closest was very inexpensive Central Machinery made on the Hegner pattern it was far better than say the DeWalt I liked trying different saws but once I got my 1983 PolyMax I never found anything close to it great video thanks for sharing

      Hi Jerry, great to hear from you. Our Hegner scroll saw is a really important part of what we do here at our family workshop with the Welsh lovespoon. When dad started using scroll saws he first had a delta scroll saw and he found it would drift and the blades would go out of shape, it didn't last long before he realised we needed a better option. He chose the Hegner and it has done a brilliant job.

      Hi Fabio, great to hear from you. It's a reverse tooth number 9 blade we use. The blades we use are pinless and our own favourites are the Niqua Speed blades. Pegas and Flying Dutchman also do their own version.

    • @DailovespoonsThomas
      @DailovespoonsThomas  Před 2 lety

      Hi Mick,
      Blades are really important when it comes to working with the scroll saw. We work in hardwood, usually between half an inch and an inch in thickness. The best blades for working in this are the 'Niqua speed number 9 reverse tooth blade' and also the 'Flying dutchman number 9 reverse tooth blade'
      It has been more difficult to get hold of the Niqua blade recently but the Flying Dutchman blade is just as good. Don't mix the Niqua speed up with the Niqua Fix because those blades are useless for hardwood.
      It's also worth noting that if you are working in something other than hardwood then a different blade will be more suitable.
      Here is a link to the supplier I currently use for the Niqua blades below. They have lots of other blades available too.

    Hello, excellent video, I am writing to you from Argentina and I want to ask you a question, my machine vibrates a lot and that affects my quality at work, how could I do to solve this?

    • @DailovespoonsThomas
      @DailovespoonsThomas  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Bruno, great to hear from you. Glad you enjoyed the video. Excessive vibration can be one of the biggest issues when setting up and using a scroll saw. Firstly, you need to make sure that you have your scroll saw base bolted to the floor. Secondly the scroll saw needs to be bolted to the base. Next you need to check that you have the correct amount of tension on the blade. Thickness of wood and type of wood needs to be considered when selecting the appropriate blade for the job too. I cut wood between 1.2cm and 2.5cm thick and use a Niqua number 9 reverse tooth blade. Sanding the wood flat on the back can also help reduce vibration. This allows it to sit on the scroll saw bed nice and flat. In regards to technique I guide the wood with one hand and hold the wood down with the other hand. Not feeding the wood too fast and letting the saw do the work can also help.
      Hope some of those ideas help to sort out any issues you are having. Thanks for getting in touch and supporting our CZcams channel.

      Hi Dina, whilst we own two Hegner scroll saws we don't actually have any association with Hegner other than using their scroll saw. The current price for a Hegner Multicut 2s is around £750 and I have no idea of shipping costs. I have attached a link below to help you out.

    Virtually no one uses the hold down!

    • @DailovespoonsThomas
      @DailovespoonsThomas  Před 3 lety

      Hi Terry, great to hear from you. We have three of us who use the scroll saw here at our family workshop on a daily basis. Myself and dad do not use the hold down arm but my brother always uses it.
      Additionally, when I taught my wife to use a scroll saw she found it gave her confidence to use the hold down arm because she found it difficult to hold the wood down without the assistant of the hold down arm.
      Our videos are focused upon helping everyone to enjoy wood carving, scroll sawing and wood work. Whilst some may have no need to use the hold down arm, it could be the very thing that helps others to enjoy working with the scroll saw and achieve success.

      Hi Richard, thanks for getting back to me. That's absolutely right you can buy either a single or variable speed Hegner. For the work we do the single speed is perfect. On a variable speed machine I believe it is the same as working on top speed all the time.
