These are legit. I had my doubts, but I recently used one in an insanely mosquito infested part of the North woods in Minnesota. They claim about 15 minutes of warm up time, I would say it took about 30 minutes to rid the area but it did. I was sitting in the bubble looking at swarms of mosquitos in the trees all around me. Amazing product.

We just got one of these rechargeable units before going down to Florida. It did make a big difference and helped keep us from getting eaten alive while trying to make food at camp and we were in some heavily mosquito infested areas.

Dude! We got one and the first time using it in the Backcountry we were quite literally amazed, "Holy Crap! Where did they all go, these things are awesome!"

Great video, very informative. I'm wondering about the butane version, 6000 feet is nothing for Colorado. But the rechargeable version looks to be the ticket. We were in Carbondale the past few days and the mosquitos were thick at KOA on the river. Nice area, had dinner at Ming Cafe, great food!!!! Thanks for great content and keep up the overlanding trips!

Oh too cool! Carbondale is a pretty cool town! Other than the prices here…
Turns out the fella I interviewed for this product is from Carbondale as well! Small world.

I use them and swear they work but they don’t last upto 12 hours they claim. More like 6-8 hours per cartridge

I’m leery of the warning against using near food. Having this near my camp kitchen would be 90% of the use case.

I would check out UV light mosquito/fly traps. I’ve used them in organic indoor gardens with success.

These use a pesticide called allethrin. You are sitting in a cloud of it and yes it has documented health impacts on humans. I have one and will never use it again.

@@IndependenceOverland I have a couple of coworkers that went camping and said the black flies were out in full force. That was up in Adirondaks

I have one. Does not seem to do much tbh

Literally the first person I’ve heard say that. Are the mats still blue? Once they turn white they longer work. It also helps to have it under an awning in my experience.

@@IndependenceOverland Blue. Once no longer blue I assume it is 'cooked'. Maybe it works better in an awning room. In general, any tiny amount of breeze or open area and these do not seem to do much of anything. And if you are in an awning room you can just use the bug mesh windows and do not really need this. Maybe on a very very very still day and a semi enclosed area it works well. Not sure. Using the smallish blue butane powered ones.
