Jamerrill, long time watcher and this feels like the perfect video to share your impact on my life. At the beginning of Covid I was at home and hadn’t had contact with someone other than my husband for almost a month (which was awful for this extrovert) you have a video where you prayed. Where we all took a moment in prayer for the unknown and the chaos happening around us. I remember cooking a pot of beans and taking a moment with you to pray. I wept in my kitchen. I’m not a Christian but it was just such a spiritually connected moment and I have just continued to feel that anytime I get to watch or interact with your videos. You’re a gift. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Just a few freeze dryer tips, 1) tomatoes with seeds can take days to complete, so you can always add more dry time, or simply put the tray back in the freezer while you clean and defrost, then restart the whole process. 2) Your freeze dryer is too close to the wall on the left. The left side is the air intake to keep the motor in the freeze dryer from overheating. 3) The water collected in the bucket from the drain can be used to water your garden, don't let it get too full. I always just hold my tube in the air when I release the vacuum. Then place back in the bucket to collect the drain water. 4) To clean the drum, take the gasket off and the shelf out and clean with mild soap and water. I also wipe the inside down with vodka to sanitize it. I have to keep my upright freezer locked for the very same reason, spit happens! Just keep doing you! 💕

You handled the mishap with grace and style. I was pulling out my hair when it happened to me. Cooked all the meat and froze it. Made a ton of veggie soup, and canned it, that lasted all winter. Baked pies and canned fruit and veggies. I was a mess for 2 days. But we made it and God is Good. We were and are thankful for all the food we were able to save. You are the greatest. My hat is off to you. Those with negative vibe, well may God Bless them too.

I would check my homeowner’s insurance to see if this is a covered loss. Usually, all they require is pictures. You have yours on video. That’s why we pay such huge premiums. I’d definitely file a claim.

I would check if I were her too. Our fridge just broke and we had a umbrella extra coverage for our fridge so it worked out for us. We have only been with this insurance for a little over a year and our agent did buck about it because it was our second claim in a year, I said well what do we have insurance for then?? Pay all those premiums and they never want to pay out when you need it!

Sorry this happened now, but if you have a freezer this will happen at some point to everyone. So nice to be diverse with the freeze dryer and canning. Shelf stable.

My heart was broken for you with the freezer incident. You made SUCH a valiant attempt to save as much as possible! I'm actually quite inspired on ways to salvage things if I'm ever in a similar situation. I KNOW I'm lucky that I've never lost a freezer. And even going to the animals, you saved that food!
As for the tomatoes, now we all know they need to be cut first. Thank you for taking one for the team and teaching us! And I laughed when you labeled the bags "Exploded Tomatoes". 😂

I've had this happen more times than I care to admit. My freezers used to be in my basement so it could be days before we realized a door was ajar. I bought baby proof straps and attached them right by the handles. When we close the door, we snap the strap and haven't had a loss since.

I had this happen and found unplugged freezer on a day I had 30 people coming over for a massive bbq. I started the bbq at 8am cooking some of the freezer meats that could be used that day and put the newly purchased bbq meats back in plugged freezer. Sent my husband to the store to buy extra propane tank to be able to keep going as needed. I also had the house oven on all day cooking everything to refreeze. This in middle of summer, with house full of guests inside and outside, with no AC. I have no clue how I survived that day.
You did very well and nothing is going to waste. The feathered and furries need to eat it. Love that you share us your successess and fails. Tfs.

I've had a freezer fiasco too. We lost everything and as a result the freezer stunk like rotten meat. I cleaned multiple times and nothing worked to remove the stench. I finally as a last resort I placed trays of charcoal briquettes in there for a week and to my surprise no more stinky freezer.

If a freeze drier is ever “in” your budget I must suggest making the investment. My husband and I have a friend that saved up for one and she now turns a $10 bag of skittles into roughly $100 profit from selling the freeze dried candies! She has turned her hobby into a major source of income for their family:) I’ll be praying your morning sickness subsided soon! I remember those miserable mornings (all day for me) very well! Congrats on your baby!
