During his lifetime, Isaac Asimov was considered one of the "Big Three" science fiction writers, along with Robert A. Heinlein and Arthur C. Clarke. We will hear from all three of these fabulous authors in consecutive days in October.
Today we go back to the days when the U.S. launched its first satellite and NASA was established. You could buy a bleacher seat to see the New York Yankees win their 18th World Series title for $2.10. Gas was 30 cents a gallon in the US, and the Peace Symbol was designed by a British textile designer named Gerald Holtom for use by England's Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

I loved the way ths story ended. A very interesting concept. I think we'd be driven back to a subsistence lifestyle if radioactivity disappeared today.

Asimov was born in Russia during their Revolution so it was very much pervasive in his mind and works.

I'll admit to thinking that this was a bit clichéd, even for the '50's - but he turned it around in the last 2 or 3 minutes!

@DavidMyers-bl9gx here's the funny thing about ads. CZcams put ads on our channel and we had no idea. It's actually in the terms of service that CZcams can put ads on your videos anytime they want to, and they keep the money. So we requested monetization and now we get paid for the ads. Another funny thing, we place fewer ads in the videos than CZcams does so there are actually fewer interruptions that there would be if CZcams was in control. Having said all that I understand how jarring the ads can be when you're trying to sleep and I'm sorry that's the case. You can get CZcams premium which I am told eliminates the ads for a few dollars a month. Thanks for listening!!
