- Episode 2 from the series 46 1 Corinthians - 2021 with Skip Heitzig. Watch the complete series: • 1 Corinthians - 2021
In this letter, the apostle Paul addressed the problems faced by a growing fellowship of new believers, problems every church faces because the church is filled with sinners-those humbled and broken people who are God's chosen people. In this teaching, Pastor Skip reminds us that God so often uses the small, broken things to share His love with the world.
This teaching is from the series 46 1 Corinthians - 2021 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

1 Corinthians 2
Thank you Pastor Skip and the CC staff. While listening to 1 Corinthians chapter 1, I was reminded of a question that I've had for years. I'm a simple man. Sometimes basic simple information and explanations work best with me. Could you please offer up your thoughts as to why Jesus didn't say to his followers some thing like:"Hey guys...next Thursday night after passover, Roman's will arrest me. Over the night hours, I will be tried and sentenced to death. At noon I will be crucified and then be placed in a tomb. When you show up Sunday morning, you will not find me in that tomb because the Father will raise me from death. And I will see you shortly after that.? Please offer any insight. God bless you all and thank you.
Hello Al, that is a great question. While there are many different ways to look at the idea of Jesus and how we foreshadowed events to his disciples. The easiest explanation seemingly would be that they would not have understood and some may not have even believed Him. Even though Jesus told Peter the exact details of his betrayal Peter still denied Him three times before the rooster crowed.
We also know Jesus told the disciples several times before his death how he was going to die, two examples are Matthew 17:9 and Matthew 17:12. In Matthew 26:2 we read
“As you know, the Passover is two days away-and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
While there are many reasons we can read into the scripture why Jesus did not lay out all the details of his death, burial, and resurrection all in one conversation. The reality of the situation may not be what we think. Perhaps doing so may have made the disciples afraid and scared of what was going to happen to Him. Perhaps Jesus telling his disciples those things may have gave them the wrong idea based on their understanding in comparison to God's plan. The plan that included the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus that would ultimately be the beginning of the greatest movement we have ever known.

God is not in a hurry. Neither should a Bible study
You have some excellent content, and I am profiting thereby. My one suggestion would be to avoid the occasional lapse into the vernacular. It comes across as anti-intellectual.
