I forgot to cover the topic of overcrowding in the video. as this is an important question I'll add details here. overcrowding only seems to apply to wild plants. it will prevent wild growths from crowding a space but seems to have no impact at all to domestically planted crops. so for farming you can safely ignore this warning.

Thank you for this. It's answered a few questions I've been having on farming, it is surprising hard to find good info on this game.
There is something you didn't mention and I wanted to know if it did anything. Overcrowding. I've always spread out my farms to avoid it but it takes ALOT of land. I just want to know if overcrowding actually hurts the yield.

This was awesome and answered so many of my questions. A couple of things you didn't cover which I'd like to have known about include how overcrowding affects yield. Did you only get the yellow value for corn yield because of the quality of the soil or due to overcrowding? Does the yield get boosted if you have lots of fertilizer and can there be too much? Thanks for the vid!
Edit: Is the yield displayed on the world map affected by the ferilizer quantities in the land or just the environmental factors?
Glad you enjoyed! Ya I should have covered overcrowding, basically ignore it. I'm not sure it's implemented at all and if it is, the benefits of a dense yield far outweigh any penalties it applies. you can still get max harvest on a fully planted plot. The Yellow was soil quality I believe because you can get green on a plot with all 25 blocks growing something.
Fertilizer supposedly can be overdone, I've read that you shouldn't over-fertilize, however I haven't tested the results.... and lastly I'm fairly certain the map yield display includes current fertilizer levels, as I've noticed my fields showing lower compatibility when I was low. using those map filters can really show you where you need to fertilize most on a large field you don't feel like checking 1 at a time.

does the density of the plants matter? all your corn seems fine with but it says "inhospitable enviroment" and "very overcrowded". very good vid btw mate!
Glad you enjoyed it. I think overcrowded penalty only applies to wild crops. To prevent natural overgrowth. It seems to have 0 effect on planted crops.
Really good video, one thing I was wondering how do I know which fertilizer to use for which crop... would love to know - thanks in advance!
Fertilizer is purely based on nutrient level so if nitrogen is low use a nitrogen rich fertilizer. I think the wiki does list which plants use what nutrients the most but I mostly just focused on which nutrient was needed each time I did a fertilizer pass.

That's a good question. I Havent tested that. Seems likely to. Out of town and can't test the theory now.

What affects temperature, Rainfall and moisture, and can they be manipulated?
Those are set at world generation time and will only change if global climate change happens from pollution.
How do you know what type of nutrients a plant needs other than just checking what gets depleted each time? Like if I want to plant beets how do I know what nutrients they like?
I believe the Wiki has a low limit threshold and nutrient usage for each crop type, but I never really used it all that much. For the most part I just focused on pushing them towards 80% once a day providing emphasis on the nutrient that was lowest. Something of a juggle using different fertilizers, but as long as you don't let it get below the crops low threshold you're fine.

I believe it's all still relevant. There's a new station for gathering, to break down cotton and flax for the tailors. Bit I believe the content is all still accurate. Let me know if you find otherwise.

how can you stack dirt above the dirt, or was it patched?
Just build a wood platform, lay dirt on top, then remove the platform. The dirt won't fall.

my son calls it second job lol.
I like the the better than minecraft sandbox style with better graphics but I am a casual player so I will pass on this one. I have checked out some videos like this one which are great but maybe this game is not suited for a casual player who only has say 10 or 20 minutes a day in the evening to play .
Find a low collab server...or start your own. You can increase exp/star gain if you're the admin, so can make the free time you have, really count. Failing that, you can always do single player, but you will miss out on a lot of the community collaboration aspects. Good luck 😊
