We are a family of 6 living life in North Pole, Alaska! Where Santa Claus House is right down the street! We love spending time together as a family, having fun, learning through homeschooling, growing in our faith, and building our forever home! What a joyful day ! I am a former Alaskan OCS Specialist and Adoptions are always a blessing for the child and the family . The Sommer’s are very fortunate to have the opportunity to have a newborn placement and to be able to adopt her permanently.
I was a divorce mother of a 12 yo boy when we decided to adopt a little girl. She was almost 4 years old. It’s not always been easy, but it’s always worth doing. She’s now 22, smart, kind, and caring. I’m so happy for the decision of adoption. Your journey has just begun!!❤

I cried through this!! Her name fits her. Our last adoption was 2 of our foster children who are half siblings. It took place in September 2020 and it was done over the phone, not even Zoom. It had taken 7 years to get to that point, so we didn’t care, we were just so grateful they were finally ours!! Congratulations!! ❤🎉

Oh btw, my husband and I lived in Fairbanks 1969 - 1971. He was stationed at Eielson, AFB. We hope to go back next year and spend 3 weeks. We lived in a small apt near the back gate at Fort Wainwright. Our oldest son was born in Alaska at Fort Wainright hospital. We spent many days at or going by North Pole Alaska! My granddaughter's name is Olivia. When she was 3 or four, someone pronounced her name Ah-livia. Tot that she was, she emphatically, but politely, stated, "My name is O-livia please." She is soon to be 22 and is just as emphatic that her name be pronounced correctly.

As the biological dad of an adoptee, I can tell you that my prayers for my daughter were that 1) she would be placed with and adopted by a family that would teach her the love of God and forgiveness through Jesus, 2) that she would be placed with and adopted by a family that would keep her healthy and safe, and 3) that she would grow up to be person with a wonderful heart. 35 years later, I found out that all three of my prayers were answered. I know that you will be a wonderful family in which Olivia can grow up as a good-hearted person, feeling safe and being healthy, and loving God and knowing the love and passion of Christ. Congratulations, Somers family - may God continually bless you on this journey with little Olivia!!

Last year I told you my grandparents named their children the same names as yours. My father was Garrett, and I had an Aunt Evelyn and an Aunt Audrey. I also told you there was a fourth - my Uncle Ray. You laughed and said there would be no more. God heard you and He laughed harder! Now I am laughing too. Good for you, and fantastic for Olivia!

So happy for you all, what a blessing from God. My baby brother was adopted in Alaska when we lived there. He is now 39 years old. My Mom brought him home from the hospital. On December 9th. That month we were moving and He was our only gift. But that was the greatest gift.
