Just saw it last night. A film about taking pride in your work, seeing the beauty in the small details and how to perfectly clean a toilet. 10/10.

I loved the details in the movie, such his looking up everyday and smiling, his asking respectfully for permission to take home a tiny plant (his affection towards nature), the apparently homeless person doing some kind of tai chi, his passion for capturing beautiful things (with a camera), the tic tac toe game with a stranger, his love for music (cassettes), books and movies, and of course, the heartfelt interaction with his niece. A lovely movie all together, full of life (with all the happiness and sadness it comes with). ❤

Saw this at London Film Fest last year and maybe I was in one of those moods or something, but I cried for like 50% of the film. It's simply so, so wonderful. A beautiful slice of love.

An absolutely sublime film, about an ordinary man, doing an ordinary job, just trying to live his life plainfully, and uneventfully. Delightful. Can't wait to be able to buy this on Blu-Ray to share with others!

I saw this in theaters and I loved this movie from start to finish! Every scene in this film has some magic to it, no matter what. Wenders and the team really made something special. I’m sure they’re very proud of themselves!
For Younger they do approach him now: watch "Der Himmel über Berlin", "Lisbon History", "Palermo Shooting" , "Paris Texas", "Faraway so close ".... amazing poetry of existence.

A beautiful ode to the often overlooked and under appreciated. But it’s more than that. It’s a wholly life affirming celebration and a benchmark for how each of us can make a concerted effort to live in the moment.
"Ima wa; ima." Perfect. We really do only have now. I have not seen this movie yet, but this trailer brought tears to my eyes. "The Power of Now", as Eckhart Tolle put it. I believe it is necessary to both simplify and slow down to experience this.

BEAUTIFUL MOVIE- I actually went in to see Drive-Away Dolls and realized it nothing more then degenerate garbage. I then decided to watch Perfect Days and well the day was saved.

I am so confused. I read the comments and thought it was gonna be a great movie that would make me cry but it wasn't. Chill movie. It was okay.

Wenders specifically made the movie easy to understand for everybody.
He literally didn’t wanted to be bothered with extensive backstories or a complex plot and he succeeded in what he tried to achieve

If the movie moved you, I highly recommend you get a new girlfriend that’s a better match for you. I want a girlfriend who cries with me at the end.
This looks stupid and pretentious…. but you had me at “smiling man cleans other people’s shit joyfully, while wearing an overall that says ‘Tokyo Toilet’”. That’s some goofy shit that I can get behind.
Trust me, it’s not stupid and pretentious. Just quietly beautiful.
Have you ever been to Tokyo? Cleaning toilets in Tokyo is far more esthetically pleasing than cleaning museums in Manhattan woud be.

Worst Wender's movie in his career. There is nothing poetic in this docufiction. Rather sad and cold document about an Americanised and globalised city with its alienated people. The main character doesn't care about the people; he focuses more on the trees. He is completely estranged from his family (but families are disappearing anyway) and not interested in bonding with others. He is listening to American music and reading American authors. The saddest scene is when the lady owner sings an American song dressed in traditional Japanese clothes. It's a docufiction about dying authentic culture and a new global world - and sadly, the main character at the end feels happy about it. But If you want to see Wender's poetry, I recommend Lisbon Story. That IS poetry and a far better movie.
