Satria Neo R3 Fan Car Genting Test Drive - The Fun of Driving is Not Always Based on Power.

- It was a coincidence of wants - our fans want to see how the Satria Neo performs, and one particular one, Samuel actually had one. Things started happening and finally we are on our way up the mountain in the R3 Satria Neo.
Thankfully it is a manual, and so it was fun enough, despite the slight lack of power. Handling was very good, and one must remember that the Satria Neo is one of the last of these little cars that actually boast of independent suspension all around.
Tyres were up-sized a bit, and on hard bends we sometimes fouled the fenders, but other than that it was a great drive.
Thank you, Samuel, for sharing your precious car with all of us.
And so guys, if you are starting out in life and want a good fun car that is inexpensive to maintain and handles well, this is highly recommended.

From uncle's face, we know the car's handling is excellent. 😬 Not to mention, he's having fun playing with the manual gear.
As a Satria Neo CPS driver since 2010, I would suggest the owner to change to 205/45/R16 tyres to avoid rubbing the fender. But I know, this size is hard to come by. As for the brakes, changing to better brake pads such as Projectμ may delay the brake fade a bit.
Τhe car itself is already good by design, so it doesn't need extensive 'upgrades' to be better. Just fit it with a bit firmer coilovers (I am using Kayaba RS pro), better tyres like Michelin PS4 or Yokohama AD-08R and better brakes, it is good to go!
I love the way Uncle Khong gave the car a good bashing up and down the hill. That is how the car should be driven.

@@YSKhongDriving I am still using this car as my daily drive to work. It is cheap to run, original parts are abundant and the 'performance' parts are not that expensive either. Michelin PS4 tyres are priced at RM400/pc and Projectμ brake pads are priced at RM650/pair. It is fairly cheap IMHO.
Me also using neo..nice advice..i had invest in fawster suspensions + hankook tyre + rim r3 16in..it suits my driving style..anything else, i let it to be standard because "standard itu indah"..
Coincidentally i've been running 205/45/16 almost forever and paired with ProjectU NS400. I tried looking for PS4/PS4S in this size, since im still using my nearly worn PS3. Also coincidentally, i just bought a 2 pairs of copy cat AD-08R's which are made by Summax Z1 Max Drift. Can't say the same about the performance but i am eager to see how it fares.

Proton as always, not the best quality, not the best power engine, but definitely one of the best handling 👌
I think the older Perodua or Proton has better feels when driving or shifiting gears .Drove a manual persona the gear shifting was not clear idk wether i have engaged a gear or not ,the plastic box below the gear knob was moving when i try to shift .the brake is weak (well a weak brake is good for heel toe but this particular persona has the braking performance of a lorry too weak).The wira i drove the gear shift was clear i know when im engaged feels more mecahical .The brake force was sort of ok not to sharp nor too weak requires time to familarise for heel and toe.
@@woozhi9218 because wira used cable clutch, while campro engines' proton used hydraulic clutch so it might be a little different, + brake is weak, need to press more to feel it makan on my neo r3 also

This Satria Neo, is one of my dream cars TBH.. For a Malaysian car, its agile and the handling is nice. Hopefully, one day I will own this car one day 🙏🏼😍🚗💨
Should be quite achievable, not too expensive.
My previous car Neo Mivec engine. Actually the car is nice but weak power. After i change mivec engine, enough power + good handling very nice fun car with this budget. Not a fast car but confirm fun with it.

Satria Neo CPS owned by me and Gen.2 CPS owned by my wife. The best combination we have in our family. Cheap but still fun to drive.

it seems like the car doesn’t want to rev up at the starting of the hill climb. I own this car too but mine somehow doesn’t have this issue.
Maybe compression is not that good. It is an old engine.

My AE92 std engine (4AF Carburator) climbing at last corner just used 4th gear before terowong/genting junction...
Finaly 'manual the gear' found the 'right driver'.

I think a certain neo r3 clubsport owner that i know, would really like for you to drive his car. Regardless, even when i compare the handling of my satria gti with coilovers to standard satria neo, i think the satria neo stock handling is actually better than my gti.
I think the Neo has better chassis. Ground up designed by Lotus trained engineers, unlike the Satria GTi.

Fast cars are not necessarily the best, if they are not sage. I turned down a Saga fitted with a turbo because it could noymt stop, and the turbo overboosted when I put oedal to the metsk. It could go fast, but not safe to drive.

nice driving sir! i think as an owner neo CPS my main complain is with the drive by wire for the throttle. the response is not there sometimes when u need it. they should have just stuck to conventional throttle. but overall as he said, its a fun car to drive. i still have mine after 11 years!

My uncle from kelantan got 1. What funny is he bought 1 after he retired. Bcoz he like yellow swift sport. Very sporty car manage to try once during convoy to johor from kelantan. When first drive the car died every traffic light bcoz not familiar with short and sporty clutch. I drive manual gen2 cps that time.

neo got good handling but its so gutless when low and mid range torque are the main concern ..... a gsr conversion could make it stand as tall as stock mk5 gti.....

It will handle just as well, but perhaps will be a bit slower. Maybe should ask the expert who just commented I dont understand the car, the gears should not need so many shifts, and the brakes should not fade, hahaha.
I am driving an auto Neo, and I would say it is way better than any auto car in it's class. The TCM will adapt to your driving and there is always 3rd gear to choose when you need to shift the weight prior entering the corner.

When they get hot, they start feeling spongey and don't bite, until you get absolutely no braking at all. So you ease off and let them cool down by driving slower.
