I am not a believer in Bus transportation, BRT. I traveled the AC Ceres Bus north from Cebu City to Sogod (Danao City and North) and found the roads choked with jeepnees, pedal tricycles, 125cc motor cycle taxis, 50 cc scooters, pedustrians, and small buses. The roads (Nautical Highway) were curvey and the smaller buses were hazardly scuring around these. The only way to accomodate the roadmap 2050 is to provide light rail, and straighten out the roadway. Follow the 2050 plan!! The Cerres AC bus could travel the Nautical Highway, North at maybe 50 or 60 miles per hour, and do it in about 45 minutes. But, with the road cluttered with the traffic listed above, it takes 2 hours, at times 10-20 miles per hour.
Jerry Herold For railway system, it should be Heavy Rail, not Light Rail since it can carry more passengers. Light Rail are high capacity trams but it does not match the number of passengers of a real mass rapid transit line.

It should connect non metro areas towards center. Light rail is good within city center. Over here in Melbourne, it works a lot as long as it's planned well into building it.
Hopefully, like what in the video is proposing. Heavy-rail that is used on metro systems on other countries are better for its high capacity and density. Light rails used as metro systems on Metro Manila are overcapacity and always congested because of badly designed system. This is a chance for Cebu to implement better designed and appropriate MRT system than what Metro Manila did which is unfortunately ruined by incompetence, corruption and simply lack foresight. I'm happy for Cebu to have it, every big major city in the Philippines should have some form of rail transit.

All those plans would just go to waste if the nat'l govt wouldn't give back the 60-70% revenues Cebu remits to fund those plans. Always push for federalism to secure funding & needed govt institutions for its implementation & maintenance. Many infras should've been made in Cebu compared today had the nat'l govt rejected greed & gave those funds whom Cebu owns from the start. No matter how honest Cebu LGUs can be, the remaining 40-30% revenues obviously wouldn't be able to fund those projects.
I'm a pure Cebuano but i don't like Cebu growing this big, 5M population. I prefer all this development be spread to neighbor cities like Tagbilaran, Ormoc, Dumaguete and maybe even San Carlos Negros.
