  • First time out fishing after a busy summertime, it was really nice to be down on the beach despite the windy conditions but it was nice and sunny and the beach looked stunning but not all that fishy but despite that I had a really nice time and managed a few worms and caught a few fish that made a really nice dinner. Thank you all for watching and do hope you enjoy.

    Hi David. I just wanted to tell you that I found your videos of fishing various points on the Fleurieu most informative & very helpful. I never tried surf cast beach fishing before but as soon as I arrive in Adelaide 27 Nov for your summer, I plan to pick up a 12' rod & reel combo from BCF in Victor. Will initially be staying in Goolwa until mid January thereafter will be based in Happy Valley, walking distance to the rezzie there. I went to Bass Pro shop in Buffalo, NY a few days ago & bought all kinds of great plastic baits, vibes and crankbaits plus other stuff that I can fit in my luggage. I hope to be doing more fishing in some of the spots you featured rather than just sitting on the Brighon Jetty this forthcoming summer. Hope the rain stops soon too. Keep up the great work with your most excellent video's! Yes, I am now subscribed. Regards, Walt

      Hi Walter nice to hear from you mate especially from the USA sounds like you have traveled to Australia before, it's good to hear you have found my videos handy. Never surf fished before, well around Goolwa and back towards Victor Harbour there are quite a few places to try your luck especially for mulloway (I have a video called Australian salmon rigs and cooking yummy fish cakes at 26min's into it I show the mulloway rig I use you may find it helpful I do rave on a bit sometimes.) that is a good rig around the goolwa area the workers at BCF will be more than happy to help you out with tackle and where to go have a fish(Bashams Beach is one) if you head out to waitpinga or parsons it will probably be best to fish the ways I fish on my video's fishing off those beaches. Thank you for subscribing and watching Walter I hopefully will get out soon before my job gets really busy(maggot breeder Sheldon's bait) and get another video done. Also you might find my Yellow eyed mullet bait, burly, rigs fishing parsons beach video handy. it shows a good way to catch mulloway bait... Cheers.

      Hi Mike thanks mate, yes keep trying make sure you are fishing in the deeper water next to the sand bars or where the waves aren't breaking also under the white water which the waves have created at the back of the channel which run along the edge of the beach use burley in small amounts regular not big amounts every now and then. Can I recommend watching my Fishing for Yellow Eyed Mullet video if you haven't watched it yet. It might help you out a bit more, I do rave on a bit though lol. Hi Dave, great looking beach.
    Thanks for your vids, I make my own burley springs and burley now and tailor the burley springs to species I’m chasing.
    I make a burley spring with a small cork in front for herring and it works great, slow sink rate to fish different water column areas.
    With your burley I also mix in a can of cheap sardines in oil but I drain most of the oil into a container and soak my cork burly spring in the oil for extra attractant.
    The great thing about fishing is you never stop learning.
    Thanks again, love the vids.

      @@davidsheldonfishing9726 pretty much all along those south beaches would be the go. Porties, sullies even Carry bit closer for me than Waits and Parsons, but i do like those beaches, can get a bit wild down there. Love the idea of catching my own worms for fresh baits but the chances of that is probably far less than me catching a fish and you know how much luck i have at doing that, haha.

    Hi my friend Very nice video And water is so clear. A cool method to catch worms, what is the bait? Meat? And what long worms I have never seen such long ones.

    What do you do with the carp when your finished worming? Still good for more sessions?

      G'day Hayden, I let the crabs have it if there are no swimmers around or I take it home and feed it to my maggots, if you don't know I am the guy who breeds the maggots for bait (Sheldon's Bait). I have carp on tap for maggot food. but if I wanted I could pop it back in the freezer and take it worming a second time maybe not a third time though but you can try that they are very good and have a smell that keeps giving. All the best mate

    Hey Dave?...Do you ever "dispatch" your fish in a way that makes them bleed out? Does this serve to improve the quality of the flesh? Especially for fish like mullet which, when I was catching them on the east coast a millennium ago, had a muddy taste.

      I just saw you do what you do to kill the fish where you break the neck. You said that doing that will also bleed the fish. Thanks. I love your videos.👍😊👍

      @@jenniferparkinson9411 HI, yes it is always best to bleed your fish for better eating also saves a lot of blood mess at home but just as important so they don't suffer to much, I myself have found mullet to be brackish flavoured or muddy I did go of them once for that reason but now I like them again especially out of the surf even more so out of my smoker they are the best. Thank you for watching Jennifer and you spoil me with your comment.

    What do you do to preserve the worms for say the next day or 3 weeks down the track?

      @davidsheldonfishing9726  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Andrew, I just freeze them fresh with no sand or anything in a clean maggot container because I have plenty on hand usually around 8 worms per container. I have a video fishing with frozen worms if you haven't seen just for interest. I have been told by a few fishos if you add a bit of methylated spirits to the live worms for 20 seconds or so that preserves them and they are good for a long time and doesn't bother the fish, I have never tried that yet. If you are going to use the next day I keep them alive placed on a piece of wet hessian sack with a little bit of wet sand sprinkled on them and fold over the bag take home and put in a cool place not the fridge that will kill them that way they stay alive for 2 days and a bit more if you bring home a bit of salt water and keep the bag damp, at the end of my first worming video I show how I do that. All the best Andrew.
