      @@elmouktafihicham2252 it's possible, but not practical.. let's say it takes 15 minutes which isn't really practical when this guy didn't spray the tool with rust protect, or bleed the water lines and most times you'll have valve gates, hydraulic lines, knockout bars that will consume more time. Besides that.. you'll need the cell to be set up and the hopper drained / blown out and refilled/labeled in that same time for this to even be practical. Which material handler will be doing that in 15 minutes LOL

      Nice, I'm at the newest Mayco in Michigan and we have 43 presses ranging from 330-3500 tons and our times are very similar.. the 1500+ ton presses can take 1h if it's a sister tool but if we have to change the clamp orientation and move secondary's we're looking at like 1.5hrs doing the 500 ton presses it can be done in like 30 minutes start to finish but that's mainly due to good staging (coming prepared with every single thing we need and having the crane there ready to go)

    • @mikefishes6232
      @mikefishes6232 Před 2 lety +1

      So you blew out your lines, changed program, disconnected your valve gates (air or hydraulic), disconnected DME's, sprayed rust preventative on current mold, put the eye bolts in, connected the crane, unmagnetized, safely operated the crane, then did that in reverse but bleeding the lines out for the water instead of blowing them out and cleaning the old rust preventative from when the new mold was removed last as well as set a die height and make sure it's level.. I call bullshit sir. I've been doing setups for 6 weeks and I can do a mold change on a 780 ton in 1.5 hrs the conventional way and that includes changing out the EOA and waiting for my DME's to reach temps as well as my therm/water.

      @locutus1126 Před 2 lety +1

      @@kkartal the plant had molds on roller conveyors and load horizontally. One mold would go out and new mold was ready and preheated. They also used very expensive staubli connectors for water/electriccal/hydraulics. They had to be located in the correct spot for the machine to automatically plug in. The plant spent a lot of money as they calculated how many hours they spend on mold change and decided it was an advantage to change molds quickly. All the robots change as well as its all barcoded.

    We have two magnetic presses. It takes at least 40 minutes to change. With water lines and mold heats and tc's. Ten minutes would be awesome but realistically it takes like 40 minutes. From steel to steel that is. Probably depends on machine. Ours are Engels.

      I think they mean just the time to swap molds not the time to unhook all the lines and etc and then hook up the new one. at my last job we had a 1500 ton press and it took all day.

    • @mikefishes6232
      @mikefishes6232 Před 2 lety

      @@ericschreiber1847 all day, that's crazy we have a 1100 ton w/ rotary table and sometimes we have to take out the entire rotary table to fit a few jobs that won't fit between the platen daylight with the table, when we have to do this it takes like 3 - 3.5 hours but without maybe 2.5 and one of the jobs we have to put the stationary mold in first since it almost reaches 10 tons alone and our crane only handles 10.

    @someperson7 Před rokem

    Specifically time the part of your change operation whwre you are putting on your clamps. Then time how long it takes to clean a platnen (which you have to do with mags) and then set your mags. The difference is the time you save. I think you'll find you won't do much better than 30 minutes for a change and that assumes everything goes right. They do save labor though.

      A place we do work for can do a fascia in 5 or 10 minutes. The plant spent a lot of money on equipment to make it happen. Magnetic plates, preheating stations and automated multi couplings for all the hookups. If they are not not making good parts in 20 minutes, the mold maker gets called in to see what can be done to speed it up.

      I've been a setter/process tech for 20 years and I've changed tools slone in less than 10 minutes without magnetic plattens. 8 clamps, positive return ejection, two TCU'S and a pick and place robot. Last shot to first shot in just over 9 minutes, 15 minutes between last-off submittion and first off submittion to QA.
      Back in the early 00's my mate and I could do a 6000Kn machine with 4000Kg tools in 15 minutes (him at the op door, me at the back door).
      It can be done but I'll never say it's easy.
